Another tune from Tokyo '85. I love that dynamic song and Yngwie's very cool posing here. Specially when he takes off his guitar and slides with his index finger over the strings...
Not just the solo, the rhythm at the start is killer too. The entire mood of the song just fits the overall shit nature of war and the solo expresses the anger and hopelessness perfectly.
Jeff ALWAYS hits the notes. The guy was so rock solid for Yngwie. Jesus. I'm with you guys, I have that Rising Force Live '85 VHS tape too. Still on my bookshelf. Bought it new at the time. My late teen years learning guitar. It's an amazing piece of work. For whatever reason I can remember every note of every solo he's done through Trilogy and the same with Eddie through 1984. Unfortunately, I can't EVER re-create them but they inspire like no other.
I also bought it back than and saw the tape countless times. Im a huge fan since the very beginning. Hes well respected nowadays but in the eighties he was such an outstanding phenomenon!
Its from the record No Parole From RockNRoll and the name of the band was Alcatrazz. It was the band of the singer Graham Bonnet and Yngwie wrote all the songs for this album. There is also a live record called Live Sentence with an amazing performance of Yngwie. Very clear and dynamic sound with less distortion and effects. If you have the chance to get it I highly recommend that one.
It's the CD called Alcatrazz Live Sentence, but it is a different concert. Tokyo 85 was only available as a live video (and together with an other concert in an edited version on DVD later on).
I saw this lineup live in the spring of '87, opening for Triumph. This was right when Trilogy was released. Soto was back in the band and as a singer myself, I was surprised at his live performance. The band I was in did 'Far Beyond The Sun' and 'Evil Eye', mostly because the vocals were so extreme and I was in my 'greenhorn' stage. 'Now Your Ships Are Burned' along with 'Too Young To Die, ....' being the exceptions. Seeing Soto LIVE made me work harder. As for your recordings, who knows...?
Its from a record called No Parole from Rock N Roll (1983) that Yngwie did with the Band Alcatrazz befor his solo debut. There is also a live recording with that band.
There are Many Rock Guitarists out there But There is Only Yngwie J. Malmsteen. The Next Paganini The Violin Virtuso whom Yngwie tries to Immulate and Inspires to be.
In our youth,we tend to "over-do" things, simply because we can, whether it be playing notes, driving too fast, staying up all night, scoring too many points in a game---whatever. Don't hate Yngwie because he CAN play too many notes !!! Oh, yeah-- And as for the "fat" comments: A lot of you young wankers will get pudgy with age, as well !!! And most of us aren't built like Yngwie to start with. He's well over 6 feet. What's a few extra pounds ? Peace :-)
At 5:09 Yngwie comes in too early with the main riff. It looks like he tries to play it off and mess with the pedal like it was intentional. Awesome performance though.
@rackeffect Dito! If I could move my tounge fast enough I could sing every Yngwie solo! Love him :) Noboady a passionate! Can you say "Crying" "Little Savage" Way 2 many 2 list......
@beroth77 Well well, but reality is that when a vocalist dubs a live performance it's because something needs to be hidden. And when it happens consistently to the point where it's hard to track down any real live performance it doesn't take paranoia to realize that there is a serious problem! Someone like good old Ronnie James (RIP) never dubbed a single performance in his 50-year career yet not one bad recording exists! At least now Yngwie finally has a truly oustanding singer in Tim!
@beroth77 I can believe that but I am afraid he tricked you good! After I made that post I went on to see if I could find other live stuff with him. There is plenty of it to be found - unfortunately evertyhing is dubbed to the point where I think he might even be miming on stage! I found a single unofficial clip and it sounded completely different. No power and out of key! Probably the reason he never made it very far....
Nice that you're all so nuts about Soto. Only problem is that the vocals are dubbed on the entire show. I have the old video too. Fake shit..... but like so many others I bet he couldn't cut it live. Does anyone who actually saw him remember?
What??? graham is absolutely better...Nore soulful, more powerful and this song is played 1/2 step lower than the original!!! JSS is very good but not incredible like GB!
YJM & Alcatrazz live in Japan from 83-84-85 is just awesome!!🤘🤘
Anyone else think Soldier Without Faith is Yngwies sweetest solo ever? That song owns!!!!
Definitely a great one. I like Fire and Now Your Ships Are Burned the best!
yes soldier is my fav yngwie solo. incredible!!!
Yes soldier without faith l was blown away
Not just the solo, the rhythm at the start is killer too. The entire mood of the song just fits the overall shit nature of war and the solo expresses the anger and hopelessness perfectly.
Nope! He has way better solos than that, lol
Man, Yngwie was insanely supreme on his early days, nowadays he is just supreme...
Tokyo 85 was masterful greatest live performance hence why it was on vhs back then

Rising Force hitting all cylinders here. Jeff Scott Soto on vocals delivering once again. This line up gets it done.

Another favorite from Yngwie. G. Bonnet vocals on original version(Alcatrazz). Nicely done here by Jeff Scott Soto.
Amazing.

..our true , rock brothers

@Ynger63 Yngwie signed my Alcatrazz Live Sentence CD Cover back in October at Sam Ash!!!
There are Many Rock Guitarists out there But There is Only Yngwie J. Malmsteen. The Next Paganini The Violin Virtuso whom Yngwie tries to Immulate and Inspires to be.
YNGWIE Vis the MASTER. alcatraz would have not got on the map without him.Fraya
+Fraya Kenny
Without question. He was Alcatrazz.
Hiroshima Mon Amour, another great song from that album

Great piece early yjm 👍
Thanks for the nice comment...
One I actually did see with Soto (Priest, Dokken, Yngwie) HAUNTING 🧟
At 5:09 Yngwie comes in too early with the main riff. It looks like he tries to play it off and mess with the pedal like it was intentional. Awesome performance though.

Him and Zakk have the best vibrato, IMO.
And( Pop - The sun)
Saw him open for Iron Maiden on the Powerslave tour UNFUCKINBELEIVABLE

JSS one of rocks elite singers. What a fkn tone!
Now is the Time , den Soli lässt die Haare zu Berge stehen
@HOLYSTANG91 jeff scott soto. yngwie's best singer for sure :)

No Parole from rock n roll is a great album.
If only there was a CD version of these performances though..They sound so much better..
yeah edman goes great with yngwie
2:28
Maestro Malmsteen!
Vocal is good. But not live. Overdubbed.
who is Kree Nakoorie ? :))
I disagree. I think MV on the Seventh Sigh CD was his best singer. He also performed all of this guys songs live and did a great job.
que significa kree nakoorie?
does that mean kree nakoorie?
what meaning kree nakoorie?
sergio muñoz Probably it means the 'Man who HIDES AWAY from Man' ? 😨😰
Damn.. WHO's that singer!
4:22 ¿?¿? soto

Jeff Scott Soto..just like Nazareth's Dan Mccafferthy hehe
Great singer but I prefer Bonnett as he had more character to his voice and more range.
Only Bonnet is Allowed to Sing this song...
neither nor... its jeff scott soto
Sang bad??? hahah! Take a listen to the live with steve vai!
Muppet falsetto
I think JSS is better than Bonnet. But Mark Boals is the best singer Yngwie has ever had.
Jeff Scott Soto's the better singer Yngwie never had.
I can't understand, why anybody thinks Blackmore ist better than Malmsteen. That's f.....g ridiculous.
What??? graham is absolutely better...Nore soulful, more powerful and this song is played 1/2 step lower than the original!!! JSS is very good but not incredible like GB!
Lol the fake crowd
