KALRO steps up seed commercialization, 17 seed shops to be opened countrywide

The Kenya Agriculture and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) is scaling up commercialization of certified seeds after low uptake by the private sector. KALRO Director General Eliud Kireger says most private seed dealers have been commercializing maize and horticulture seeds due to their economic potentialwhile neglecting hybrid indigenous crops.
