  • Aliko Dangote shares his insights on the immense investment opportunities across the continent at the Global Africa Business forum at UNGA79. He highlights agriculture as a critical area for growth, emphasising its potential to transform economies. Dangote also points out that Africa's rich solid mineral resources remain largely untapped, indicating a vast landscape for future investments. This discussion provides valuable perspectives on how strategic investment in these sectors can pave the way for sustainable development in Africa.

      @@msaprofessionals2996Dangote's ability to execute massive projects like the refinery still speaks to his business acumen and long-term vision for Nigeria's economy. Support or not, it takes more than that to push such large-scale industrial efforts forward.

We need a podcaster to invite him and let him expand on these African growth opportunities at will and at length.

    Interestingly, the opportunity to process raw materials (like cocoa into cocoa butter/powder) has become more costly due to the removal of energy subsidies. However, it remains a smart investment, as energy and labor costs in Africa are still relatively low, and the region benefits from available land and established logistics routes.Had investments been made in processing industries over the past 20 years, Nigeria could now be directly supplying processed agricultural products significantly reducing its reliance on crude oil exports.

      What about solar

    • @t8boss
      @t8boss หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lenso3757 ???? For Nigeria to become a solar components producer or for Nigeria to invest in solar as an alternative form of energy generation?
      China have 70% of the solar production market and would be near impossible to become a significant producer / exporter of solar without access to innovative materials or technology.
      Nigeria should definitely invest alternative forms of energy as these are immune to crude market risk and can create a sustainable steady supply of energy for communities. CapEx would be high and maintenance is low however maintenance can still be challenging for major projects. Solar energy alone to power industry is too unreliable and therefore is usually used in conjunction with other sources for when the sun doesn't shine.

    • @lenso3757
      @lenso3757 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@t8boss Deciding not to invest in a solar system for your business solely because China holds a 70% market share may not be the best approach. Numerous companies are implementing solar mini-grids to power their operations. Nigeria could potentially have an advantage in manufacturing solar components since it is closer to the abundant mineral resources like Lithium and Cobalt found in Africa, compared to China. Understanding this requires an entrepreneurial mindset. To grasp the significance, one should learn about the factors of production, including the strategic advantage of proximity to raw materials. With technology being adaptable and Nigeria's equatorial location providing consistent sunlight throughout the year, solar energy emerges as a dependable option. Moreover, energy storage in batteries enables off-grid operations, as evidenced by many companies' successful implementations.

    • @t8boss
      @t8boss หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lenso3757 Homes and business should invest in solar no doubt. however for production it is far more complicated than proximity to raw materials for solar for which Africa it is still rather small compared to China/Chile. otherwise nuclear would be the most sensible option due to the proximity of uranium in Niger. but don't get me wrong, Nigerian business should invest in producing solar panels because households and business need them. in fact I really hope they do, the only issue is the cost building the factories, producing solar and generating solar is not sensible use of capex due to the lack of overall industrial manufacturing industry. the current cost of energy which is still relatively low for an oil producing nation with a newly commissioned refinery , roi for the entrepreneur would be low even with high local sales due to extremely high capex, and low export opportunity and competition from China. US &Europe understand this, they are upset and are struggling to meet policy if they impose tarrifs on china imports. Also a lot of the raw materials still need to be imported.

      Nigeria needs to think like that to avoid constantly getting left behind, no more one pony shows....
      oil is merely one input, which the US is the biggest player globally and barely speaks about it, and they are aggressively moving towards renewables.... that’s what big players do, they think about diversification
      Nigeria needs to put as much effort into other economic inputs and stop this single minded approach (oil oil oil ) it has already failed the country, aside from the volatile nature of crude commodity markets

You will calm the panic of flight of the best medical brains; give affordable healthcare to our masses (on an insurance/charity model as they do in India); and restore some dignity to us same time.
