I think retirement is a great blessing that God gives to some people as it's usually a more relaxed and enjoyable lifestyle. Anything can be abused though and as you pointed out we don't want to get so comfortable that we forget about God. Depending on health retirement can allow you to put more time into family, community, your church, volunteer work etc.
The reality of old age and health issues that prevent being able to work and earn a living are real for everyone. A Christian man has a responsibility to provide for his wife, leave an inheritance for his children, as well as be generous to others. How can a man accomplish all of that without planning and preparation for the older years? Living on less than you make, good stewardship of the gifts God has given us is a huge part of the strategy of saving money. The sluggard will go hungry is a biblical warning. Giving to others implys that you have enough for your family.
Not sure if this was the intent, but this came across as quick to judge someone wanting a break as sin, especially if they worked their butt off for 30+ years of hard labor. I don't believe I was called to play a mission role in the world, it is not my personality and I wasn't built to do it as much as I have tried to turn myself into that. The meat of this video: your life should be about honoring God and not about blinding chasing that moment where you can live for yourself.
Everyone in the body has a call/charge from God to keep/fulfill. We are not our own, but bought by the blood/life of Jesus to serve the Lord. Whether you work at your, church, in the mission field, or in the community, if you are not doing anything but relaxing your are not yielded to the Lord. How can you give a company 30 years and give God five? We have to lose our life for Christ to take it up again.
Wrong answer... What about Matthew 6:34King James Version (KJV)Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
That is talking about worrying about the basics of life. Proverbs 13:22 KJV A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. How can you do that with know savings. This guys is a Calvinist who is false to begin with. OSAS is true!
It's also a verse specifically to the disciples during the earthy ministry of Christ. Too many Christians use verses like this to justify poor stewardship of finances.
You are referring to the passage in the book of Numbers. The Hebrew meaning for retirement is to cease and do something else. When the priest retired they were still required to work at the temple to do lighter work.
These people are so wrong I don't believe other than moving their mouth and their arms if ever actually done anything meaningful other than Caillou how they are the tools of God I can tell you that how much does it pay
I agree with him. God had already been making this clear to me and so I came out of retirement.

Proverbs 27 v. 23-27
Prepare for unknown future, give with a cheerful heart, honor God.
God’s provision is what he allows us to put aside now to use for later. Not spending everything then asking for more when it gone and we can’t work.
