Excellent video. This level of detail is exactly what's needed including things that were a surprise and/or did not go right the first time.

Had one given to me, hadn't been run in years, sprayed so starting fluid in it . Fired right up. Pulled the card afterwards cleaned it runs great

Using stiff copper wire is much safer than using a screwdriver to check for TDC. VERY clever to repurpose the green oil/fluid container as an oil drain container!

Hi thanks for the video. My Honda EB3500X it's been running a bit rough and this is a perfect video to get the lowdown on cleaning the carburetor.

Great content as always, good tips on the cheap agitation cleaner. I usually do similar, but finish it off with carburetor cleaner in the jets.
Maybe you'd get more viewership if you included make/model/year in the title? People love to learn about the specific machines they own.

Hello, I was given a Honda eb3500x that's sat for 10+ years. I've got minimal knowledge of gas engines. I'd like to fix myself, I was told I shouldn't even try to start it before replacing carburetor. Any help is appreciated! I waited til we have a hurricane approaching the gulf as I live south of Houston like 20 min from coast

If you are not comfortable cleaning your carburetor, replacing it is definitely an option. I would start by checking for spark, changing the spark plug and engine oil then see how things go. If it doesn't run, look at the carburetor

Great video. I have identical machine. Just one problem, the choke handle does not appear to be connected to the carburetor or anything else. It is just free of any connection. Can you please tell me how it is connected.

An impact screwdriver is great for cracking loose those frozen carb bowl screws, without resorting to pliers or vice grips and potentially deforming the screws.

I've got one of these units I pulled the tank off and cleaned it out cuz it was rusted and lots of loose rust particles in the tank. so I got it off and cleaned but can't get the freaking tank back into it's place it doesn't seem to want to go in the way it came out

@@thehonestmechanic yeah I got it back in earlier I tell ya removing the tank on that unit is not a fun job dropping the electric panel on the front only to find there is 2 weird 1/8in steel tabs bent over the corners of the tank to hold it in place so you have to bend those to it out and it a real pain because if you don't bend those tabs perfectly at reinstallation the electric panel and weather seal on the tank don't line up properly and just looks terrible I was beating those things straight for probably 30 minutes. It didn't go back in the way it came out either it was quite tight fit but I got it to drop back in straight from the top rather than coming in from the electric panel side. She's running good too can't kill these old Hondas gonna be a great genny to have. These things literally just want to run after I got the tank cleaned out and re installed (mind this unit hasn't seen any fuel in a freaking year carburetor is bone dry too) I went to pull it over to check for spark and it started for half a second threw out some smoke and died 🤯I was baffled knowing it has been sitting empty in the garage for over a year I swear I hadn't sprayed any starter fluid of the sort or anything. I swear these old Hondas will run on hopes and dreams😂

That sounds like quite the repair! I have to agree with you that Honda made a great small engine. Keep those wrenches turning my friend! 🔧

just remove the upper part of the frame, it is held by four screws and then the tank can be removed easily
