Great fix. La Strada have used a similar seat on their older models, when you slide the seat away from the van wall they have a flap to increase the bed width to a double. Great chassis fix idea, thanks.

Would love it more if it could swivel. So you could have this in the front, have it swivel for gathering, and turn into bed for sleeping. So you can safely seat 3 and sleep a kid there without taking up much extra space like most van builds.
That’s a lot to ask. Have you ever seen just a double front seat swivel. It needs so much room

Nice one dude. I am literally about to fit the exact same RIB bed into my 2019 ‘bad-ass’ sprinter adventure van 🤣 (but on the door side 🤞) May bump into you at the Overland show this weekend...

My van needs to transport super long mountain bikes, and the flarespace/double bed length isn't an option (not long enough).
The ETA was too long for a special order RIB without the side slider, so my bed will extend out of the door 🤦♂ #completelyuseless But as you say, lots of plus’s, and a few compromises

@@urbanarkoverland Nah. RIB isn’t the main bed. I will be getting a full super king width bed (180xm long to the sliding door pillar) fabricated, with a garage underneath 😋☺️

Rib are great seats, but their customer service isn’t.
I had a brand new one fitted which I had a problem with the ratchet on the front part of the seat not locating properly, so it always clicks and drops when it’s folded out .
It only has 1 year warranty, this was during covid so nothing could be done.
It went back a few times after covid to see if the guys who fitted it could fix, they couldn’t, and they or Rib weren’t prepared to help as it was outside the year warranty.
I now prop it up with something when we sleep on it, or sleep upstairs instead!!
It is a full width too, so very expensive.
Oh that’s not great. Surely if you logged your complaint within the year. Then regardless too much time passed. Should be under warranty. I would fight that.
@@urbanarkoverland it was a few years ago now, and I’d passed the year, but didn’t know it was only a year warranty until I started to try and get help to replace it. I tried everything, I figured if the company who did my conversion couldn’t do anything, I couldn’t either, I tried and tried, I live and learn!

i cant find the sliding to the side feature in the US. does this have a specific model?
Hi. Yes. It’s an optional feature. 200mm to the side. 200mm forward I believe. I Sofia is also an optional extra.
Ive just ordered some Barratt tanks, and Ive contacted armoured engineering about making me some brackets.
If I was to ask Barratts to make me a slightly longer strut, can you tell me how much longer it would need to be roughly? Ta

Yo nice work. Did you order the seat direct from scopema? I’m tempted to get one for my sprinter, but every uk retailer I’ve seen only sell them with the cut out in the end piece to fit around the pillar of smaller vans (t5’s etc…) but I notice yours doesn’t have it.

I hit a massive stroke of luck. This was on eBay. Purchased by a sprinter builder that had a job that didn’t go ahead.
So it was luck.
Especially as scopema factory was shut at the time. Truly awesome seats mate 👍🏻

This was a slider. Front and sideways. An altair. Wasn’t sure you could change the size of the back?
@@urbanarkoverland yeah there are 3 different lengths when folded flat and depends on rear section length … so fully flat they measure 1790 / 1860 or 1940 .. I was just inquiring as attempting a layout similar to yours 👍
