why outlwing something that could be perfectly fine / do a good job and going against the liberty of people of using that if thay want it? it make no sense
just making sure people have the right to leave it if they so will is enough, it'll give leverage to those in s*** one to get the hell out while letting those having good one keeping it

I've been "subjected" to two different HOAs in my life, and BOTH were filled with incompetence, negligence & criminal acts. From removing state-required handicap signs & spaces, to tearing up a parking area to build a basketball court NO ONE wanted (or even knew was going to happen), to one board member building a private road & boat-dock through communal property and Protected Wetlands.
    NEVER AGAIN.

I've lived under two HOA's. NEVER again. Dictating the color of your curtains, what you can and can't use your garage for, grass not green ENOUGH when every foot of the yard is overshadowed by trees, constant special assessments for meaningless crap, fortunes in maintenance fees but fountain pools that are clogged with algae resulting in seized water pumps, a dozen cars broken into every weekend but no suggestion of actually hiring even a minimum wage security person to walk the parking lot, hiring painters who leave ladders lying around enabling burglars to access 2nd floor balconies with unlocked sliding doors... Incompetence, greed, INSANE levels of Karen. I cannot believe that there is an HOA anywhere in the country worth the heartache and pain.

When I bought a house over 30 years ago. I looked at a really nice house and when the realtor mentioned HOA, I was like "Oh hell no. I'm outta here." She tried to point out the pros I countered with the cons and walked away. Then she showed me only houses without HOA.

Our old HOA, purchased a $ 800 storage shed, and wrote it up as $35,000, Hired relatives, Caused over $2,000,000 in damages, and fined anyone that complained. New HOA, so far so good, but they hired a Karen Security guard that thinks she is a prison guard. If there is any HOA violation even a minor it is written in a professional manner and sent through the mail. Minor things are usually ignored if it is something barely noticeable and does not affect your neighbors. This idiot knocks on your door, and and will walk in if it is unlocked, holds her cell phone like it is some kind of magic wand, takes pictures, and basically forgets who she is really working for. Other neighbors had have similar issues with her. Other than this one security guard this new HOA is much better.
