I love this game, so addictive and the gas system is something I have tried to re-create in GMS 2 to no avail haha. It's a beautiful game and you play in the way we love you for ;)
It's always interesting to watch how other players approach the early game. You pretty much have the same order of building as I do but lay it out in your own personal way. I also like to go for really high dupe populations so I tend to preplan everything much bigger.
Great video series and so helpful. I love how you not only tell what you're doing but the logic behind the systems. I've only been playing a few months but this has helped clear up a lot of issues I was having. Not having made it into mid-game successfully I think I can now with this series. I started a new game using your seed and have been following the video building along with you. Keep up the excellent work!
A lot of the time I always get overwhelmed by this game in the first starting area because I've always had troubles planning things out, so being able to just have someone explain things slow and do it at a nice pace makes learning the game so much easier.
Wow, your plumbing is so tidy compared to mine. Mine always ends up as a complete mess of pipes that's terrible to look at and goes all over the place lol. This is a great series of vids btw, it's really nice to watch somebody who just knows what they're doing play this game, it's so pleasant to look at haha
A little late, but I would like to note that the nature reserve/park doesn't do anything unless a dupe goes into it, so it's actually beneficial to find a place for your park where the dupes will walk a lot.. for instance, making a park and putting the bathroom on the far side of it. It's something you can use and then adjust later in the game when you have other sources of morale
Swinging in to point out that one of the mods Nathan uses- the mod that gives you insulated doors- also gives you a one-wide door. I've been following along on the same seed, and said one-wide door is a perfect trapdoor that causes anyone who visits the mushroom farm to go through the nature reserve while also making sure the mushroom farm isn't *part* of the nature reserve, which is why Nathan couldn't just use a ladder.
this was... difficult to consume ;-P. I think I need another round with this movie. Actually, I believe this tutorial is very good for people who already spent a lot of time on this game. For me it is like magic ;-P. Though, interesting magic ;-P
Nathan's Sandbox at 20:24 instead of making the doorway into the slime chamber through the waste room, flip the door sideways where you were originally going to put the ladder and it would separate the room and preserve the nature reserve as well as allow you to avoid the temp issue from the waste room.
20:23 you can use a sideways door at the top of the ladder to preserve that reserve. You'd have to dig the 2 tiles with 2 plants lost obviously but you'd still have 4.

Your nature reserve is a dead end here. Dupes don't get bonuses unless they actually enter them! That way they go to the bathroom if needed, walk through, then eat, then break, then head to bed. All on a tidy one-way door system.
here is a really good tip (depending on your play style) if you pump liquids in to a tank....then have a dup deconstect the tank...the liquids will be in a bottle....it is good for oil so you dont have to run long lines right away or have the pumps over heating due to no steel......this does not work with gas
29:36 it's been a hot minute since I last played ONI but could you not have set the doors so that duplicants could only enter through one door and exit through the other, making the bathroom a forced one way system while still having a door on both sides?

i don't have insulated manual airlock in my game!
I used a mod for that in this series. They are listed in the description.
What's the reason around that water between the 4 fridges?
To equalize the temperature between all items I throw in there.
@@Nathans-Sandbox how is it possible?
The water helps transfer the heat between all items when they come in hot or cold. If I threw in too many hot items it would start to heat up.
my problem is food shortage, why u have so much food
Farm early on and get cooking going. In the beginning you will find lots of food in the terrain (watch out for the cracked tiles)
@@Nathans-Sandbox i seee!! now i learrned so much sir ,tysm!!
this is harder than my university exam
Your uni sounds fun!
Why are your tiles that strange yellow colour?
Because of the material colour mod.
The cuts are a bit of a problem as after every cut your building something new
I also like to follow Tutorials to a T
That is my editing/playstyle. Want the episodes to be fast paced and not everything is worth mentioning imo.
Oh
have you ever done modded banished?
Had no idea it supports mods!
@@Nathans-Sandbox oh yea...you cant get achavements with them on.....but they have some cool one....mostly flaten lands...and anywhere mines.....you can put mines anywhere even on flat lands....and the 3ed best one mines ans quarrys dont run out

tried using this series as a 'walkthrough' of sorts. your too quick
Sure it's not step by step, but it should give you enough of a guideline to make great stuff;)
This is actually fairly walkthrough-ish of a series.
