The few remaining POTB EMD SD9's in existence. Two were parked at the Tillamook Air Museum hangar, and one was in Garabaldi at the time. Very unlikely any of these will ever see service again.

They look like they were the heavy haulers of their day. Nice old engines. I love looking at rail videos, I only wish I was so well learned as to actually be able to correctly identify each one correctly but I am not but still love seeing them. A nice little video.

I still can't believe that the Port Of Tillamook took the money meant to fix the tracks and restore the line and built offices at the airport with it. The Coos Bay rail line had been restored and is getting good use and helping their economy.

I've been visiting that one over the years since i was 10 and a half years old. been there since January of1977 by the lions club on display outside behind the old school house and old church and the cop shop impound lot. needs repairs new roof new pistons. missing some big time parts. the black paint is chipping. twist dials and more gauges and unknown to the boiler tubes. the air brake hose rotted right off the spot light on the tender and. new foot plate steps. much more. was built by singer manufacturing co as a small saddle tank steam locomotive then resold to grand trunk western as a switch engine then resold to a quarry up in canada then years later some one found the engine in the lake rescued it and put it on display outside a machine shop then he decided to rebuild it into a242 steam locomotive with tender then he donated it to the park up here. its 97 years old. and was built a year before my great grandma in 1921.

yup, really evident the equipment is sitting out by the coast, moss is growing all over that stuff, from an earlier clip, lost one, saved two.
and to amswer another clip, the scrap would be sold to China, and the SD' s were built in La Grange Ill, GM of Detroit only got the profits.

That's what I'm thinking as well. IIRC, all 3 of those are owned by the OCSR operation, which plans to restore them at some point but doesn't have a use for them presently as GP9 #101 and the F7 are sufficient for now.

i know of one steam locomotive is at heritage park shelby township cop shop in Michigan on display outside needs alot of work to see it on top form the drivers side piston looks like some one took a m80 to the cylinder the cab roof redone the air brake is rotted right off. on the ground And last time i visiting that engine since i was a9 and a half years old and have watched the years be unkind. sorry if i sound like a58 year old I'm just an old soul from 10 years old i had the word complex of a 40 something old. and here's the story of this steam locomotive was built. in1921 in January of that year the owned by singer manufacturing co and originally a saddle tank 040 then later the steam locomotive was sold to the grand trunk western as a switch engine for freight train then found work in a quarry up in canada. years went by and a man found this one in a lake at the abandoned quarry then he moved it to his machine shop up here then later he rebuilt it into a tender locomotive with smoke stack and cowcatcher and cab roof then donated it to the park up here since January of1977. and been on display ever since. hopefully one day. I'll restore the small steam locomotive and later sell it once operational to little river railroad in coldwater Michigan. at the moment just wait for the golden opportunity to come true. thank you For your time

I wish there was more inclination to leave equipment like this be, putting our freight back on railroads would help this country a lot. These didn't break down, the railroad firms did and I see a lot of potential for the resurrection of railroading and using these locomotives again to haul small freight or local passenger trains. Plus they are just cool, why scrap something old and well built to let Detroit build more junk?

    • @TheMysteriousRock

does the prairie type steam locomotive have a tender nearby. of engine number 45. and were are the guys from shipping wars and how much to add the little hiesler and switch diesel. because i could easily find new homes for them. like the Chrysler plant up here in sterling heights Michigan and a locomotive display up here in heritage park 24 in shelby Michigan and recreate a small log train with small cranecar and flatcar with logs and small caboose
