  • prrt1steamloco... - Please help fund the T-1 Trust! They are a wonderful organization, building an advanced new 4-4-4-4 T-1 steam locomotive from scratch!
PNWR 1501 sorting cars in Albany, Oregon. Great sounding EMD 567 engine, and a little wheelslip! This old EMD SD7 began service on Southern Pacific, then eventually found it's way to Portland and Western. At the time I recorded this video, the railroad was considering scrapping this old workhorse, due to lack of new parts being in supply. Some parts were stripped off of another SD9 (PNWR 1851), and used on this one.
If you enjoy my videos, feel free to like, comment, and share! Thanks for watching!

Maine Railfan©: that’s why you sell it instead of donating it. You’ll get much more out of it if you sell it to a museum than you would if you scrapped it.

You can always send it to progress rail for a rebuilt into a ECO type locomotive. Unfortunately most short lines don’t have the capital to rebuild the motive power and much less maintain the track. Out of all my years of rail fanning the best
maintained short line is the Florida East Coast and the US Sugar Company Railroad.

As of now there are no plans to scrap, she is still safe on the railroad. They recently took apart and put back together the power assembly and she runs fine. Built in 1952 she had tiger stripe paint, the paint she has now was last touched up back in the 1980's. She still has her gyralights which are different in Mars lights because the gyralight only goes in a circular pattern.

We have 2 SD7's in daily use up in Vermont on the former NECR (Genesee & Wyoming owns us now) They're mainly used for yard switching, but I don't know where they originally came from. They came to us years ago in a 2 tone paint scheme, red on the bottom half, gray on the top half, with silver trucks.

No .an sd7 has a 567b engine in her .this is the same engine that the fuse has. These locomotives is built from a family design and therefore, they sound like an F7 unit. Because every part of these locomotives are interchangeable, just like the big massive sd45s which contains a645 diesel engine in them.a mechanic that is skilled in fixing a 567 engine won't be lost when faced with a 645 diesel engine. A continuing family design or general motors diesel locomotives.
