This song tells me about a girl, who had it all, but then noticed she was paying a price for it. She desperately tries to save herself, going as far as attempting to kill another for it, even if it costs her everything. Yet beneath that despair I also hear a girl who is begging for help. The song captures Wicked Thunder's feelings and her desire of wanting the Warrior of Light's soul, but I also hear a girl who desperately seeks help from someone. I find this foreshadowing, since I think that in the following tier the Warrior of Light not only advance in the Arcadion, but also seek the cure Wicked Thunder needs.
i really like the premise of this video. it really explains the lore behind the tier while beautiful intertwining the music. you can almost hear the angst more of the music more through the visuals. it's beautifully made and makes me appreciate the music a lot more. ffxiv has some great music and they did really great this expansion as well. truly don't miss. overall, great video.
Every time I listen to the song, I'm struck by just how good it is, especially how emotional the lyrics are. You really do get what Thunder is going through.
Really hoping that arcadion is just a kayfabe and they actually hold it down instead of making such an overwrought, sappy narrative the "real story." Like, how can you have a pro wrestling arc without a giant kayfabe...?
It's an in-universe bloodsport set in a place where death is cheap. The only kayfabe here are the combatants' stage personas. When Brute Bomber spits up poison mist, he isn't just doing a typical Heel gimmick-he is using the actual powers of the Bomb King soul he's fused himself with to try and kill you. Besides, the only way for this supposedly "clever" twist of "it was all fake!" to even work is if the psychonekrosis reveal-in the privacy of Yaana's home-was also part of the "show". Which would mean everyone watching would know about it. And you know how people are about spoilers, right? The WoL wouldn't be able to walk five feet without overhearing some Alexandrian smark talk about the twist reveal of Eutrope's psychonekrosis, even though it's supposed to be kept under wraps to avoid causing a panic. Also Neyuni would have to be in on it. Because otherwise that little girl is going to waste months of her life trying to save her older sister from a fictional disease.
To be brutally fair, "the sport and related behind-the-scenes elements visit horrible, long-lasting harm on the health of the performers, damage which management goes out of it's way to conceal from the public at large to the detriment of the superstars" is arguably as, if not more, accurate as a depiction of big league professional wrestling than kayfabe.
