But that's incredible for HTC. For years their cameras were absolute trash but the HTC 10 turned that around and it seems working with Google has only aided them. I'll personally wait for more information and details to come out from the likes of Pocket Now who do deep camera and audio analysis.

HTC U11 looks like an awesome phone. I have had a HTC phone for the last 9 years or so and refuse to change. I have seen Samsung's owned by my brothers fail on them. I have a HTC M8 at the mo and despite numerous falls, there has been no impact on the phone in terms of looks and performance, in fact it still looks 'as good as new'. I know what I'm getting next.

I don't think the squeeze feature is gimmicky, I think it's a sick idea. I use my flashlight a lot and the quicker I can activate it the better, props. If battery life is good I'll grab this thing.
The bezels do make the phone look outdated already, but the Edge Sense feature could be useful. It's fully customisable, and if you can launch apps while the phone's locked (eg Google Assistant, flashlight, camera) it could be an actually useful gimmick. The back of the phone looks gorgeous, really digging the white one.

Why is no one making a bigger deal about the always listening google assistant feature? The fact that is works with the screen off and screen locked is great! I don't know another phone that does that besides the Pixel. With the growing popularity of Google Home and Amazon Echo this feature is big because you basically get the benefits of those devices in the phone. Especially when Alexa comes in next month's update.
Finally a cool phone from HTC.., It would be better if it has some kind of haptic feedback while using edge sense same like that of the iPhone rather then just pressing a hard metal body. But its really innovative feature tho. I really appreciate this.

I, for one, am not getting the U11 for the look or for the "Edge Sense" (I think it may be just a little gimmicky, I don't think it will really set them apart from the competition). I am getting it for the specs. It's just as good, if not better than the S8 on paper, has a GREAT camera, considerably less costly, and HTC is MUCH better about timely updates. Nothing against Samsung (I have an S6 right now), I just prefer HTC for those reasons. Although, it is a shame that HTC is trying to be innovative with the 3.5 mm headphone jack removal. It is not really in a good position to take the risks that is it taking. I personally do not care about it at all since I mostly use Bluetooth and since they included everything to accommodate all the other users, including some very nice USB-C earbuds, but I know people will still be upset by it for some reason. I have my HTC U11 preordered and I am very much looking forward to trying it out!
Craig Zorzy either will be fine, I prefer the XZ Premium only due to the headphone jack and Remote Play. Software wise they are both buttery smooth. My M8 & Z3 are both still performing full strength. I can't say the same for my S4 nor S5.

Nobody is going to use a flimsy piece of silicone on a $700 phone especially if it is made of glass and has a scratch-prone reflective back. Any form of hard casing around the edge would definitely affect the functionality to the point where any pressure would be undetectable making this new "feature" useless. It's a nice concept but a gimmick doomed to fail. Having to squeeze a phone quite hard to do something is not a good idea. Pressing a button or double tapping a screen is far easier. You can adjust the sensitivity to make it not hard to squeeze, but then just picking up the phone or gripping a bit harder than normal will accidentally launch an app. Like LG modules it will fade into obscurity very rapidly.
You can set the sensitivity of squeezing to adjust it to your will. And there are cases where clicking on the screen becomes a real hard task like when you are doing sport (not to mention with a single hand+thumb is harder). In the HTC's presentation (not sure if you've seen it) they've put a couple of use cases that makes this gimmick a lot of sense.

The odd number HTC phones seem to be the better products lol. M7 was a good launch of the series but, I heard m8 was kind of meh. M9 is good and I still have mine actually but the m10 was said to be a let down lol. Here comes the m11 to save the day.
Some facts: - HTC always had better software then other phones. Not to mention that HTC One M8 was one of the best (if not the best) phones from 2014 (yes and his older brother at 2013 HTC One (M7)) and still it has better software then most of the other phones. - Everyone disliked HTC because of "bad" camera in the past. That was their only reason and for that reason 90% of people will say that HTC is a shitty phone compared to over saturated Samsung cameras (for example). - I have HTC One M8, yes it has 4mpix camera, and to disappoint those 90% yes it's perfect camera if you know how to set it right and use it. You can't take pictures of landscape and expect I don't know what, but it is doing great job for what it is designed. - Now with HTC U 11 we have atm best phone on the market, yes phone jack is missing but hey, technology evolves, changes happens, so if that's the reason to dislike something then you are an idiot (sorry). No one complained for various types of chargers in the past, when mobile phones came to market, every company has it's own style, and now all that is reduced to one, now two types. etc.. etc..

HTC U11 looks like an awesome phone. I have had a HTC phone for the last 9 years or so and refuse to change. I have seen Samsung's owned by my brothers fail on them. I have a HTC M8 at the mo and despite numerous falls, there has been no impact on the phone in terms of looks and performance, in fact it still looks 'as good as new'. I know what I'm getting next.
Is a pop filter or wind screen being used to record the audio? Hearing a lot popping p's. Very hard on the ears.

Does the international market provide the 6GB RAM/128GB/Dual SIM option? I'm currently in Taipei and the demo unit I was playing this morning had 6GB RAM/128GB of storage/Dual SIM for the price of 21,990 NTD (730 USD) with tax. I was browsing the US page and it only has the 4GB RAM/64GB option.

I don't think the squeeze feature is gimmicky, I think it's a sick idea. I use my flashlight a lot and the quicker I can activate it the better, props. If battery life is good I'll grab this thing.

The bezels do make the phone look outdated already, but the Edge Sense feature could be useful. It's fully customisable, and if you can launch apps while the phone's locked (eg Google Assistant, flashlight, camera) it could be an actually useful gimmick. The back of the phone looks gorgeous, really digging the white one.

Why is no one making a bigger deal about the always listening google assistant feature? The fact that is works with the screen off and screen locked is great! I don't know another phone that does that besides the Pixel. With the growing popularity of Google Home and Amazon Echo this feature is big because you basically get the benefits of those devices in the phone. Especially when Alexa comes in next month's update.

And sorry, the S8, G6, XZ Premium and iPhone (when it is announced) among many others who have either retained or moved to a glass-back design. While there are a few metal OEM's left (Huawei, OnePlus), right now glass is the preferred material for aesthetics and wireless charging. You guys bash HTC for not giving the consumer enough and while keeping up with the current trends, you knit-pick then criticize them for doing so. Judge the device for right now and stop constantly comparing it to previous devices... Also, you've had the phone for all of 20mins and you label the video a 'Review' and hail this phone as 'middle-of-the-pack'. This was a 'middle-of-the-pack' trash 'Review'...👎🏾
DXO best camera yet!
I, for one, am not getting the U11 for the look or for the "Edge Sense" (I think it may be just a little gimmicky, I don't think it will really set them apart from the competition). I am getting it for the specs. It's just as good, if not better than the S8 on paper, has a GREAT camera, considerably less costly, and HTC is MUCH better about timely updates. Nothing against Samsung (I have an S6 right now), I just prefer HTC for those reasons. Although, it is a shame that HTC is trying to be innovative with the 3.5 mm headphone jack removal. It is not really in a good position to take the risks that is it taking. I personally do not care about it at all since I mostly use Bluetooth and since they included everything to accommodate all the other users, including some very nice USB-C earbuds, but I know people will still be upset by it for some reason. I have my HTC U11 preordered and I am very much looking forward to trying it out!

Craig Zorzy either will be fine, I prefer the XZ Premium only due to the headphone jack and Remote Play. Software wise they are both buttery smooth. My M8 & Z3 are both still performing full strength. I can't say the same for my S4 nor S5.

The things that disappoint you are basically things samsung try to do. If htc loses bezels they lose the sound. Which is most important. and software is same since m8 cuz users love the interface. So yeah it does not feel new in terms of software but it is the same great one users love.

Nobody is going to use a flimsy piece of silicone on a $700 phone especially if it is made of glass and has a scratch-prone reflective back. Any form of hard casing around the edge would definitely affect the functionality to the point where any pressure would be undetectable making this new "feature" useless. The thing i dont understand about pricing, is why revewers in general accept that samsung or apple make expensive phones, but other brands, even when they have similar specs, like this htc u11 and lets say galaxy s8, need to have cheaper phones to compete.. i dont get it.. htc is a well known established brand, why cant they have 800 $ phones?? but samsung or apple can!! makes no sense to me..
It's a nice concept but a gimmick doomed to fail. Having to squeeze a phone quite hard to do something is not a good idea. Pressing a button or double tapping a screen is far easier. You can adjust the sensitivity to make it not hard to squeeze, but then just picking up the phone or gripping a bit harder than normal will accidentally launch an app. Like LG modules it will fade into obscurity very rapidly.
You can set the sensitivity of squeezing to adjust it to your will. And there are cases where clicking on the screen becomes a real hard task like when you are doing sport (not to mention with a single hand+thumb is harder). In the HTC's presentation (not sure if you've seen it) they've put a couple of use cases that makes this gimmick a lot of sense.
Michael Regalado Yes, I saw the video. It's still a gimmick in my opinion. I mentioned myself that you can adjust the sensitivity to make it easier, and also easier to accidentally activate. And what if a person, as 90% of people do, want to protect their phone with a rigid case? How will they squeeze it then? It's an interesting but badly thought out concept that will fail commercially.
Why everyone is hating this phone while Samsung gives us pretty much the same thing as U11?

The odd number HTC phones seem to be the better products lol. M7 was a good launch of the series but, I heard m8 was kind of meh. M9 is good and I still have mine actually but the m10 was said to be a let down lol. Here comes the m11 to save the day.
Some facts:
- HTC always had better software then other phones. Not to mention that HTC One M8 was one of the best (if not the best) phones from 2014 (yes and his older brother at 2013 HTC One (M7)) and still it has better software then most of the other phones.
- Everyone disliked HTC because of "bad" camera in the past. That was their only reason and for that reason 90% of people will say that HTC is a shitty phone compared to over saturated Samsung cameras (for example).
- I have HTC One M8, yes it has 4mpix camera, and to disappoint those 90% yes it's perfect camera if you know how to set it right and use it. You can't take pictures of landscape and expect I don't know what, but it is doing great job for what it is designed.
- Now with HTC U 11 we have atm best phone on the market, yes phone jack is missing but hey, technology evolves, changes happens, so if that's the reason to dislike something then you are an idiot (sorry). No one complained for various types of chargers in the past, when mobile phones came to market, every company has it's own style, and now all that is reduced to one, now two types.

If you are not comfortable with the infinity display on s8 ... And you think LG g6 is quite basic .... Go ahead and get a HTC U11 ..... well at least I am quite excited about this phone....
praise htc for innovating new stuff. coz they try to bring new useful stuff for consumers. while other companies copy and doesnt bring any useful features at all. dont know y there is so much hatred for every htc phone that is released. IMO this one is by far the most awesome phone htc has built. tho i love metallic design but the colouring on this one is awesome. i like headphone jack but i now understood that type c noise cancellation earbuds are far better. i dont like that bezels much but it had a reason for boom sound or whatever. also i dont feel comfortable holding my bros s8 plus. i prefer bezels. if u want looks just buy n iphone or s8. htc has a sexy back but an ugly front. but as a user u will love using it. its amazing n finally we can say it is better than samung in many ways
