    Nice and easy approach to this tool. I expect more advanced stuff, but still worth the watching. Glad to learn.

    Seeing the school drill Smile of death on a press table makes me weep every time I see it. You can always spot ex-school drills on Ebay, that awful arc of holes😭😭😭🤣❤️

    “How to use a pillar drill” Wear long sleeves 😂😂😂

      This is a valid point, if you are wearing loose fitting clothing, it would be recommended to roll up sleeves, especially if the work piece was not adequately secured.

    I have never heard of a drill press called a pillar drill. Does this name come from the UK?

    • @ks3-5designtechnology91
      @ks3-5designtechnology91  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can't be sure of the source, but saw this online: pillar drills are floor standing, pedestal drills are bench mounted, they are both drill presses.

    • @sawleyram7405
      @sawleyram7405 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the UK I've yet to meet anybody call a pillar drill a "press drill". So far as I know it's also widely used in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The reason behind our naming is that the drill and the drill table are mounted onto a pillar. Understand the logic behind "press drill" but we just don't use that name.

    I’m quite confused can you make a video where it’s less detailed and a but more straight forward

  • @negara54
    @negara54 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why was the drill making the squeaking noise? It didn't sound healthy

    • @ks3-5designtechnology91
      @ks3-5designtechnology91  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a belt driven, variable speed drill press/pillar drill so, it is likely that the belt is slipping slightly which may be what was causing the slight squeak/squeal during the filming of this video. If this occurs for you, changing the belt or cleaning the pulley sheaves may help.

    While I respect your enthusiasm and also like how clearly you describe things you make some definite errors with regards to the safe use of this machine;
    -Drill bit appears a long way out and I wonder how much of the shank is held.
    -A second pair of hands should not needed if a one handed clamp like that is used.
    -You use your apron as a rag and then go on to clean your glasses with it after telling us about care for scratching our glasses.
    -At 4:19 and 5:59 it can be seen that the drill bit is not centred.
    -It may just be an optical illusion but the clamp appears to be at an angle and I suspect it is on a web / stiffener meaning it is much more likely to slip off.
