Hi Zach, I agree with your choices here, but I’d like to see a list compiled as the next level of 4 mallet solos, maybe classified as intermediate following Yellow After the Rain Thanks Alan
First 4 mallet solo I tried to learn: between zero and one from the book mile marker zero by ben wahlund. It was so bad, I played it for comments only at solo and ensemble. First 4 mallet solo I could play well: A cricket sang and set the sun by Blake Tyson. First performed it at my audition for the Hayes school of Music at App. State 2 weeks before I took it to S&E. I didn't get into Hayes School of Music. However, I used Cricket for my 4 mallet audition piece for UCF, FSU, and JU. Didn't get into UCF or FSU, but JU gave me a $47K fine arts merit scholarship.
In december I will be giving a concert where I have to play 3 marimba solo (on my 4.3 octave marimba). The theme of the concert is 'from dark to light'. Does anyone have a recommendation for pieces to play (preferably in a specifik order). Thanks in advance!! (The pieces I already have played are; Yellow after the rain, rain dance, suite mexicana, waves, katamiya, Ghaiana (and michi, but I haven't finished this one yet)).
What’s YOUR favorite beginner four mallet marimba solo?
I played Yellow After the Rain around a month ago at state.
Definetly think it's a good one to start with.

Thank you!!
I played Yellow After the Rain for my first 4 mallet solo in middle school and was able to take it to state S&E.
Yellow after the rain. Bach cello suite in GM. First mvt. Love the Chanel.
i am a music major and i just played andante for my studio class
That's awesome! I really like Andante. I hope your performance went well!
Rain Dance in high school was my first solo. 😂
Yellow has parts that requires 1,3,2,4 permutation.

My first 4mallet solo ever was A Cricket Sang and Set the Sun
Love that solo!

I have Ghost Garden. I have not performed it. I only have 3.3 octave marimba so it’s harder trying to find solos in range.
I would say Yellow as a music major.
Okay, i play 4 mallets for 1 year now, and i am learning Homo Balcanicus by Zivkovic, and i've never played any piece from this list
Cool
There is a section of single alternating strokes in the piece
