Great review, however there is 1 big correction needed and that is your comment in the intro suggesting that the MK4 Superb is "Passat-based". That is because the reverse is in actual face the case. The last gen. Passat was a bit of a sales disaster for VW and as a result, in advance of the development stage of the MK4 Superb, VW tasked them to co-develop and co-design(with strict VW control of the styling) alongside the new Superb(because they conceded that Skoda does this segment significantly better). You are correct in saying that they do share a production-line but in the interest of journalistic accuracy, it's a Skoda production line, so it must be clarified that the new gen. Passat is Superb-based and Skoda designed, developed and built.
Thanks for pointing that out! You’re absolutely right, Skoda’s role in designing, developing and building the MK4 Superb deserves more credit, and it’s fair to say the Passat is Superb-based, not the other way around. We appreciate you informing us!
I’ve had my 1..5 TSIE SE-L for 2 months and 8500 miles. Intermittent faults with some of the features but overall a brilliant car and well pleased with it
Ive had evey generation of the superb, last one, 2016 tdi sel executive, had to let it go at 133000 , due to the emissions being fed back into the engine and eating itself, the new tdi will be no better for a long term keep car, also dont like the xylophone dash, and cockpit tablet just plonked in the original cockpit, this time ive gone back to a skoda Octavia 1.5 tsi e- tec sports line, very good on fuel 63 to the gallon in winter, achive over 70 in summer , plus the Octavia only weighs 1300 ton, and superb with same drive train nealy 2000 ton, also the new Octavia is the better looking car.
It is an absolute disaster, DON'T BUY. The new superb is full of software faults, complaints from all over Europe. The car is illegal to drive. SKODA can not fix the faults. My new skoda has been at the dealers for 4 months waiting for the fix, which no one knows when it comes
@paultrussy The faults include: Side assist unavailable Lane assist unavailable Front assist unavailable Travel assist unavailable Protective occupant unavailable (no airbags) Dynamic sign unavailable Dynamic cornering light unavailable. A car displaying warning lights will fail the MOT in the UK, and perhaps invalidate the car’s insurance, therefore the car is unroadworthy.
@@simondavison7482 I heard they had problem with one microchip which was responsable for all of that (also in kodiaq) and newer versions are getting new chip and that is fixed now

Complaining about missing USB A ports? So you also miss the cassette player, choke and manual gearbox right?
Why do you use a picture of the revamped Octavia (in this case the Sport Line iV) @ 7:11, when comparing the Superb MKIII and MKIV?

I'll stick to mine, the best version, the early mk3 from 2015.
lack of lower cornering lights looks terrible - even if they aren't needed
Bratislava czech production line?? Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia!

Thanks for sharing. Definitely will not buy one
Curious to know the nature of the faults that make it "illegal to drive"?
