A good video shedding light on how vampire crab owners never see the crabs lol. My sister ended up giving up her two crabs and giving them to me. I think the main thing is to create an enclosure that your able to see three sides of the tank and setup up plants and woods in a way that the crabs can still be hidden and you can see them at the same time. Having said all this I often can’t see them as the crabs are really good at hide and seek lol.
The more viewing angles the better for these guys! I suspect you have now used up your monthly viewing quota and they will be back in another 30 days! Aahahahaha I have found they seem to have little activity phases sometimes too. They come out for a few days and roam around then go and hide again. I'm not sure why but it happens every so often.
Finally a new video. I bought three vampire crabs, they are not afraid and always come out to show off in front of the camera, apparently they were raised outside the will.
@@IndoorEcosystem This is a question that you would not seem to have touched upon. Is it true that you should not give street crickets to crabs, because there may be parasites in the crickets?
@@YANTARNIY It's always a risk and I don't think it's entirely impossible to avoid to be honest. But you can reduce the chances with captive bred foods that's for sure. All my crabs live in tanks with more than half the environment sourced from outside as well as iospods springtails as food and I don't believe I've had any issues so far but it would be hard to tell with internal parasites.
@@IndoorEcosystem I agree. I fed the crabs with woodlice, which I found in captivity, none of the crabs got sick. Thanks for the reply. What I found in captivity
This is timely. A week ago I added 3 purple vampire crabs (a male and 2 females) into my nano paludarium that was established for almost 2 months. Long story short - I never see them 😂. I know they're still alive because of the various degrees of disturbance to the scape in the mornings. These creatures are so elusive. Thanks for the video!
@deeppeacenature265 in a few months you should hopefully spot babies and if you hang around the tank and feed them they'll be quite a bit more active. But it's a slow game waiting
Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping to see babies too, that would be exciting I imagine. Anyway, this morning not expecting anything looking at the tank - I spotted one of the females in the water. I think she was taken aback as much as I was haha. As this was happening, I spotted the male sitting on top of a rabbit foot fern. This is the most I've seen them so far, pretty happy about it 😂.
From Reddit(the guy with brown water and THANK YOU AGAIN I’m fully rebuilding the tank and getting better rocks as the ones I was using are round river rocks that are danger to stack and hard to hide the leca also putting more time on the weed matting❤❤❤❤
@notenoughpot keep me posted! I'm looking forward to seeing the rebuild when it's all up and running 😊 you're right about round stones you need a lot of different sizes to fill gaps well.
@rebelwolfofmibu I only sell locally here in Poland. They ship horrendously bad so it's best to get them as locally as possible. If you're in the US aquatics arts is another option.
@@IndoorEcosystem No worries. I'll be sending the bill soon. Lol just kidding 😆 Seriously though, it's my pleasure. Your channel is seriously underrated. You should have at least a million subs by now. I just don't understand. I blame the wacky algo. 😁
Thanks for the video. Im digging into these wonderfull creatures for my Bornean room. My question would be where to find reputable sources of CB in the EU. As id prefer to stay away from wild animals do to their small populations. Any recommendations?
@terrariumchannel CB is pretty much non existent sadly. But the more people that jump in and start the better. I breed and sell mine locally with the hopes people I sell to do the same and eventually we can flood the market with CBs to slow the wild caught trade. The best place to look is Facebook market place and similar local groups. But it might be hard in some areas.
Can I mix isopod? If I buy a starter culture of different colors and sizes but I go outdoors and find some of my own. Can I throw them all in one enclosure? Or will they murder each other?
@harryfenzleiniii6274 I've never actually tried mixing them to be honest. But I'm guessing they will interbreed (if they are the same species) so you can expect their qualty to degrade over time. Other than that, if they are different species they will probably just compete for food, I'm not sure they actually fight though. I would double-check with some channels that do a lot of isopod stuff they'd be more knowledgeable on this topic.

This video is shot beautifully, the crabs are so colorful
Thank you 😊 I've been collecting so much footage it was nice to finally use a lot in one video.

Love these guys!
Me too! 😍
@@IndoorEcosystem I would love to set up an enclosure for them soon, they are basically just big isopods xD
Very informative! Loved the food hat 😂
I was a little worried it was going to make him a target! 😅
Two questions where do you buy some and do you sell the ones you breed? Because every time I check Josh’s frogs website their always sold out
