What is it about this song that's so timeless that it's the last song you want played for you on this earth? It's the only song I want played at my funeral. And you're far from the first to comment about this being a funeral song.
I'm not a geordie by birth, but my great grandfather was from Newcastle and all my mam's sisters moved to Newcastle. I was there from I was 10 till 17 3 times a year and would spend my Christmas and new year's in Newcastle with my gran. This song makes me cry everytime because of the great times I had going down with my gran, plus how much I love the place still to this day 🏴🏳🏴🏳❤❤
Been travelling for five months, in South America right now but COMING HOME in a couple of weeks. It’s me birthday today (aye it’s still 9th June where I am). I’ll have this blasting in me earplugs as the plane lands in Newcastle and I kna for a fact I’ll be a grown man crying like a punched bairn. The world is class but there’s newhere like my beautiful Newcastle. I can hardly hold meself together right now. Absolutely belta
I’m not a geordie but my family are and I’ve supported and loved the magpies since I was a young lad. I will always and love nufc as a collective and never stop. We honestly have the best supporters in the world. Howay the Toon!
Local hero will always remind me of my Grandad. We had a red arrows video he always put on when i stayed over. This was the song at the start. Dire straits epicness........Mixxed with Sir Sam of Fender epicness.....Got to be AMAZING !!!!!!!
Such a beautiful rendition of Local Hero, I will always remember my father when I hear this song, And it only gets better with Will We Talk. Such Talent😍
I’m not a Geordie BUT i have been trying to find out the name of that song that rings out at St James Park as a I love it as it gets my hairs standing on end aswell hahah
Absolutely unreal this. Was at St James Park for the first time last week and while im neither a Geordie nor a Newcastle supporter Local Heros an unreal song to have before a game and you cant get much better than Sam Fender top stuff.
I'm a brummie like heard this tune since I were a kid fourty years ago, have all of Straits albums, there's a track on this Knopfler album with the late great Gerry Rafferty, check it out, thats the way it always starts
LOCAL HERO - An American oil company has plans for a new refinery and sends someone to Scotland to buy up an entire village, but things don't go as expected when an English football club appropriates the films theme tune. LOL
People who aren't geordies have no idea what this song means to us, it's our national anthem ❤🖤⚪
I had absolutely no clue. Was at St. James’ Park last night and came here to find out. First time in Newcastle, won’t be my last!
@@jeromea9209 same here! Was at SJP last night, it was incredible seeing the reaction to this tune!

If your not a geordie I'm sorry you just wont understand why my spine is tingling
Im not a geordie or even english and i still get the tingles 🖤
I’m a Boro fan but I get it
Mark Knopfler, a Geordie boy done good, born in Glasgow and Billy Connolly was his milk man I recall.
I'm from Birmingham and I completely get it, an amazing piece of music, love it
I'm from Sunderland and I completely understand. As much as sam's a Geordie he represents the north east as a whole in a way. Hes
a proper legend 👍
As an American Newcastle fan it's definitely on my bucket list to hear this live in St. James' Park someday.
A 67 yr old from NJ. It is on my bucket list to fly there & see Sam & the band. 💙
Played this song after both my father, brother and brother in law funeral it's very close to my heart this song 🖤🤍🖤🤍
I've chosen Local hero for my funeral hopefully I'll stick around for a few more years. God bless

Ya don’t have to be a geordie to love Sam fender he’s mint
This song means Mark knopfler scotish heritage and geordie heritage..a true anthem for UK.
Good quality. Canny way to start a gig in your home toon with Wor Flags and 11000 Geordies. Crackin' night. The boy is a star.
Robson Green as about five rows in front of me! Cracking night.
All well and good marra, but be kind to the police horses
Plenty of us glaswegians. Different class man what a night
Boro fan here...I come in peace...Isn't that bloody marvellous...?.
sam a true Geordie the Geordie nation so proud of you this bloke never forgets where he is from he loves his area SUPPER STAR
The Dogs Bollocks. Needs to be his entrance theme for every gig. Toon Toon

Canadian with Georgie heritage . . . love this a lot. Sam is a superstar.
Is georgie your dad then?
I think it's fair to say I've made up around 40k of the views on this video as I've watched this video so many times as I'm a huge fan of Sam Fender
Bless, waving the Cornish flag
Love it ! allthough I noticed Will we Talk is played quit a lot faster than on the record
Incredible
Just spotted me in the crowd, reminder of a fantastic night ❤
Magnificent piece of music
Hawway the lads bring that Cup Home
🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤
Absolutely spine tingering
I think The Toon are missing a trick, should have these 2 every week as they run onto the pitch, so much more emotion than a recording
And mebs that young lad that Adam P found outside SJP smashing it out a few months agan
I'm from Sunderland but I love Dire Straits and love Sam Fender even more. x
Sam Fender the North Shields king
Awesome !!!!
Went to this night with someone I didn't expect to have such a strong connection with. Not sure if we're ever going to see each other again
