Trip Report | Nairobi - Addis Ababa | Kenya Airways Economy Class | Embraer E-190

I recently arrived to Nairobi from Dubai on the Kenya Airways B787-8 in Business Class (yessss, I’ll show that soon!) and I’m connecting to Addis on one of their E190’s. And I was lucky to fly the only with the Skyteam livery too!
The hard and soft product that I encountered was not at all what I expected! It was much better.

I'm so happy that you've experienced and liked flying an Embraer aircraft. In Brazil, we're extremely proud of their high quality and safety standards.
It’s a very comfortable plane, just flew the E175 today and loved it too! First time I think..
Glad you’re all proud of it, am looking forward to fly the E2!
I believe ethopian airlines was one of the very few to make a profit during the pandemic.
True, lots of cargo flights.
I recently flew with them on the B777-300ER and it was 100% full!

Very nice video! Kenya seems like an amazing airline to travel. You included everything! I am surprised about the level of complimentary snacks and drinks or even the pillow. I guess in Europe in some years you will pay even for hitting the flight attendant call button. Keep going!

Twice travelled by Kenyan airways including Nairobi n Dar es Salaam executive class. Had wonderful time. Excellent crew.

Same story! And imagine if they worked!
But it was a short flight and honestly I rarely use any IFE as I always bring my own..
It worked fine on my other Kenya Airways flight so I’ll still get to show it to you soon.

Hello! haven't had much time watching your videos( you know how time is) But sure that you still have made exelent recordings! By the way, I can't be the only one who love Embraers( especially the E-2) more then other narrow bodies brands? Wating for the next video!
It’s been a busy summer for all I guess. I barely have time to edit so I can only do short flights, but I hope to find some extra time soon!
I liked the Embraer too, quite a surprise. It does the same job as the A320/B737 but more comfortably.

¡Que privilegio volar en 190! Aquí los extrañamos mucho. Muy cierto lo del espacio, muy cómodos✌️. Dato curioso: un técnico de Copa Airlines, nos comento que tienen un mantenimiento muy costoso y si quedan en tierra varios días instalarles el software de nuevo es extremadamente complejo y caro. “La primera toma uff el mejor ángulo del motor del 190😍” ¡Pensaba en que parte de Kenia estarías! Lol, that actually isn't African beer. It's western style beer made in Africa 😂. African beer is a lot thicker and opaque.

Great report.🙂 I have to say that the Embraer 190 is the only plane, that i have to ask for a seatbealt extender. It’s really tight.

True, there is a B737-700W in a Skyteam livery but I think it’s stored and not returning.. It hasn’t flown for months..

You may be right for the kq737 as i haven't travel to africa for 10 months now and it will be extended for probably 2 or 3 years as we just bought our flat and it needs to be furnished
@@TheLayoverAviation the 737 Skyteam is 5Y-CYE. It's a 738. It had been stored but was brought back to service about 4 weeks ago
my grandparents have flown on kenya airways' e190's from dar to nbo (which was their stoppover before a flight on a 737 to the uk) a few weeks ago, they might do that again in a week or so after their 1st leg to go back to their home in tanzania
I’m sure they’ll have a comfortable flight!

Once upon a time, KQ was great with excellent customer service, and a flat business class product before most large Western airlines, and an edgy livery.
Then mediocrity and decline. Note the IFE was out of service, the seat pocket was falling apart, the “power source only” sign for USB port was chipped, the lavatory door sign was a mess, uninspiring breakfast box with two bread/cake items, etcetera.
Its management and board know little about airlines and relatively recently proposed taking over the Nairobi airport because they viewed that as one of the reasons for Ethiopian Airlines’ success. SMH.
I wish them a return to success.

Yes, there is room for improvement but the same happens pretty much everywhere. I fly almost daily and if I had to see all the flaws I would go nuts, so my mind has learned to focus on what I like instead.

extremely overpriced. from Dallas to Los Angeles is double the distance compared to Nairobi to Addis. typical ticket is 190$. from Nairobi to Addis is above 600$. Ridiculous
It all depends on demand and supply I guess..! But I can assure you I didn’t pay 600$..
Demand and supply, the most expensive is Nairobi to mombasa and KQ flys that route 60 times per week and all the flights are full
