    Whenever he says "You're almost never going to face this" it ends up being the most popular choice of my opponent. It seems that this is what people remember the most from the opening. Like, "yeah, I wanna be special and play this line". I guess. It happened to me with the Danish Gambit and the move Queen to e7 guarding the pawn on f7 after being attacked by the bishop and possibly the queen in alignment.

      Fried liver is really interesting too I'm glad you showed it. Also the giuocco piano where you play 4.c3 instead of 4.b4 the Evans, is extremely interesting. It's like an Evans Gambit where you are now going to star to try and sacrifice your b and c pawns. I would love to see a video on the guioco piano or I could even make one for you if you want. 9:10 bishop to e7 might actually be a natural move. As a beginner, I always look for forks on opponent and my self, king and queen being on the same diagonal or same file is a major alarm in my head. I agree that King to f6 might be from a cheater but bishop to e7 might happen purely based on natural thinking.
    Edit: realised after posting the comment that if I was playing black pieces, I would actually move the king back to a safe location instead of a bishop move.

    Regarding the Nakhamanson Gambit - you said that after 8.Qd5+ Black's only move is 8...Kf6. I was curious about that so I put the move 8...Ke8 into the chess engine to see how White punishes this move. I let Stockfish calculate and calculate to a very great depth and it thinks Black can hold this with an even evaluation. Here are the computer moves after 8...Ke8: 9.Re1 d6, 10.Rxe4+ Be7, 11.Bg5 Kf8, 12.Rae1 Bf6 and Black seems to have weathered the storm. His position is hardly one I'd like to play, but he's not going to get checkmated any time in the near future and he's up a piece. So, I'm wondering if you see something better for White to punish 8...Ke8. Stockfish doesn't see it. Admittedly, it's all very nasty for Black, but I do not see how 8...Kf6 is any better than 8...Ke8 if the correct moves are played.

    • @nico_iunyk
      @nico_iunyk 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yeah but the problem is that you are assuming that a normal person would play the move Kf8... normally, the person would play Be7 to cover and then end up losing their queen.

    You touched on something here that I found very important on my journey to get better at chess. I see it at the pogchamps too. Sometimes looking at the engine makes you think a mistake is being made when it isnt. It is more important (for me at least) to see openings and moves thaat are played from certain position. Engine can be very misleading.

    A note on the Nakhmanson: I've been mastering both openings here and loving them for sure. To shore up all possibilities, I've also learned what to do if right knight takes first (4...Nxe4): take to the right) and if left knight takes first (4...Nxd4): Bishop check. And after castling, if they bring out the bishop to c5, I've learned the Max Lange Attack. However, if I even get to Nakhmanson position and whip out the knight to d3, experienced players know it's too good to be true and take with the knight. And beginners are like timid sheep and also take with the knight (maybe it's simpler than having a knight overextended or maybe they just see knight and take knight with knight). Either way, I rarely have players take with pawn. Now, this is still playable but it takes some study and it's not winning by force. Just my two cents at ELO 1000.

      I believe its not "he has to play this or he's losing" but "he has to play this or you cant do the evans gambit". the evans gambit requires the black bishop to be on c5. b4 is the evans gambit i believe

      He didn't mean it in the way you thought he meant it. Basically, you can only play the Evan's Gambit if they play Bc5, otherwise you will have to try something else.

    I play that last opening as a max Lange variation. Didn’t know it had a name, but I face a lot of perfect theory play at 2000-2100. Lol

      The first 12-15 moves in the Max-Lange main line are really easy to figure out yourself at a certain level. To circumvent that you can either pick a side line, or you can learn theory beyond that so at some point you know what to do and they do not.

  • @GoldenBoyXCM
    @GoldenBoyXCM ปีที่แล้ว

    8:03 its just the scotch gambit. There are way more ways play can evolve such as the Max Lange attack, Morphy attack, Andersen attack etc.
    7:40 also Ng5 is not the fried liver. Its just Ng5 the knight attack. Fried Liver is when black makes the mistake of taking the pawn back with the knight

    Question- at 8:02 you say "most people here would take" showing black's e5 pawn taking the d4 pawn, BUT wouldn't most people instead take the e4 pawn with their f6 knight? Then after white's d4 takes e5- why not move the black queen from d8 to e7? Doesn't this effectively kill the Nakhmanson Gambit quickly? Look, I'm not a rated player so I'm probably missing something- but this simple response from black seems to end all threats, right? I've played this through from this suggested refuting position 3 times with one black win and 2 draws with me playing black- against Crafty playing white at full strength. (Crafty's the only free chess engine I can run on my ancient CPU, so I'm sure it's not the strongest opponent to test this lol) Thoughts?

    Yesterday I played my first Evans gambit and won. Both me and my opponent (appr. 1350 rapid on lichess) made mistakes. I made two moves in a row, that engine found blunder and inaccuracy. But both those moves were attacking, they increased pressure. Eventually my opponent made a mistake in defense, and got 21. Qf7#

    at 2:20 why does black not just play bc3 to attack the rook and once the rook moves to take the pawn on d4 since the queen is now blocked. Wouldnt blocking the check with bishop as white be better in the first place to stop this?

    Hi Levy, i'm just starting exploring some apertures for the first time, and was intrigued by Open game, Scotch game and Nakhmanson gambit in particular. Do you know any specific good book that treats this gambit? Also I'm pretty confused if it has to be studied along with an Italian game preoaration or a Scotch game preparation, since it can happen coming from both, if i'm correct. Thank you for your vids, you're awesome.
