I find it lovely that Anna Ryzhykova always first to congratulate Femke Bol

Femke is an elite athlete. Tall, lean, fast; possessed of a powerful kick and a strong mental constitution. She's going to be a force in the 400, and especially the 400H for at least the next decade. (I wonder how she might fare in the 800) Maybe what I admire the most is that she seems to be a genuinely sweet/nice/generous person; and doesn't seem to allow her fame or the intense competition to change that. The kind of person anyone would like to have as a friend.

totally agree - everything about her facial expressions screams sincerity and genuine joy

I love how she throws up her arms so excitedly after every race, like she’s always so excited and astonished that she won, when she wins EVERY time. I think the Tokyo final was the only time she hasn’t won in the past two year. I hope she has a long and successful career.

Unfortunately she sees the white bottom of Sydney McLaughlin's shoes. Born at the wrong time, or maybe the competition with Sydney will make her train harder/better. I hope she doesn't do what the East Europeans used to do from the 60's to the early 90's.

I also do believe that one of Bol’s underlying strengths is her mental conditioning. She is a cool, relaxed high quality runner and I put that all down to how she sees herself. Here is a comment she made recently to a reporter.
“I am now used to that attention, but it does not change me. I don’t think differently about myself or about others. I am still the same Femke. She does her thing, trains hard and enjoys her sport. I also don’t feel special at all. I always think: what I can do, someone else can do too. Being sober and humble is also how I grew up. ”

you can tell from her eyes, smile and facial expression that she is a deeply genuine and sincere person.

The world's elite, let their performance do the bragging, they remain humble in victory. She is a class act

It's interesting that Bol always runs the same time over the final two barriers. No matter how quickly she reaches the 8th hurdle she requires 16.03 to 16.09 seconds for the remainder. Only in Stockholm head to head with Little was Bol quicker...15.97. She was 16.03 in Tokyo. That section is Sydney's edge over Bol. McLaughlin ran a phenomenal 15.26 coming home in the Olympic Trials and an excellent 15.46 in Tokyo. They went out so fast in Tokyo that Sydney didn't have quite the same flash coming home.

Isn't it astounding the parallels between 400m H for both genders? Warholm/Mclaughlin, Benjamin/Muhammad and the young prospects in Dos Santos/Bol who almost certainly would have ruled any other era in record breaking manner. I look forward to seeing if Bol can close the gap between herself and Sydney & Dalilah

Bol and Muhammad are on the opposite ends of their career. At some point in the foreseeable future she’ll close the gap on Delilah but it might take A LOT more to close in on McLaughlin though.

Don’t forget Shamier Little she is not far behind but lacks consistency.

I fully agree with your comment that Femke Bol would be a dominant champion in a different era.
But that era may be sooner than later!
I have watched her time progressions over the past 2 years and they are amazing.
She is only 21, have been in running in this event for a relatively short period and has achieved PB’s for nearly every race she runs.
I can predict that at the World Athletics Championships in July 2022 she will be running under 52 seconds even if she only gets a Silver.
But in Paris in 2024, given her time progressions and her hard training, she should be a gold medal winner!

But Bol is all about consistency. Hey only loss since forever was a PB that was the 4th fastest time in history.

no kidding eh? esp the EERIE AF way in which both Mclaughlin and Warholm barely broke the old WR a month before the Olympics, then both took huge chunks off it in the Olympic final WHILE at the same time Muhammed and Benjamin both barely missed out with close 2nd that was also MILES under the old WR AND de Santos/Bol beat the prev WR for 3rd place. You can;'t get more parallel than that

Little is only 26. She's right where she wants to be age wise to write the record books on this event, BUT, I don't know about the current race 'dynamics' against Bol. She gets to neck and neck on the last hurdle, and Bol just has something extra. I would be worried if I were her. Course. Olympic medalists are never short of confidence. Bol is AWEsome, though. Really excited about 400m hurdles now. All it takes is the RIGHT person. Then you have a little more excitement in your life. And. Who doesn't need more excitement?

  • @jkf9167
    @jkf9167 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

She belongs up there with Muhammad and McLaughlin, even if she needs to peel off a few tenths of a second to beat McLaughlin's record. She's 21. She can now run faster than Muhammad's WRs from in Doha or Iowa in 2019. She's lost exactly one race in the past two years - the Olympic finals.
She runs under 53 consistently and if she's fit, she'll likely go under 52 next year. She's improved her time by nearly two seconds in the past year, all without losing a Diamond League race.
Sydney and Dalilah are great, but Bol very accomplished and consistent, and she may have more room to grow.

Thank the skies for Dalilah Muhammad, Sydney McLaughlin, and Femke Bol. They turned the women's 400 hurdles from an afterthought to a marquee event. Shout out to Shamier Little. Talk about being born at the wrong time

Femke is presently the main long term rival of Sydney McLaughlin. Short term is obviously still Dalilah Mohammed.

Maybe Sydney McLaughlin will try to beat Marita Koch's WR in the 400 m flat. If Sydney switches the Femke has a chance, but Britton Wilson is improving as well.
