Hi Marina ! I hope your day is going well .... I'm a "newer" subscriber ! I just love watching you and your family ! Your kids are adorable ! We have a lot in common , except for the homeschool part ... We don't have kids living at home now (adults and on their own for the most part) but they went to public schools ! I admire you with ALL MY HEART for what you do everyday and who you are ! You made me get tears in my eyes talking about Cam ! We have a child who is Moderately cognitive impaired and his learning is a lot like your son's ! He lives with his mother but we had him for about 4 -1/2 years and we had to adjust to how he learns ! He went to an intermediate school for "special needs" ! I also have learning disabilities and was in special education classes and I learn a little slower than average and also have a hard time with compression ... So I know that learning at different levels thing , so to speak !
By the way , Shane cracks me up ! Lol ! I hope you all have a great weekend coming up ! May the Lord bless you and your family !

I completely understand how you feel about Cammy. My 4 year old son has ASD and is non verbal. I have the same fear of what would happen if we were not here to care for him. The biggest game changer for us as far as communication has been using a app on the iPad called LAMP. If Cammy will use a tablet I encourage you to let him try it. My son started using it in preschool and we ended up getting one for home. The app is pricey but so worth it. He can push a button that has a picture and it says the word out loud for him. My son struggled with ASL but he is catching on to using the LAMP app. He can now use the button for help, play, eat, drink. We started with just a few words at a time then you add more as they learn them. I just felt I had to share this with you. God bless your family.

Don’t feel bad about being overly sensitive about Cammy. All mommas worry about the what ifs when raising our kids and what would happen them, if something would happen to us. Plus every child learns differently, no matter the circumstances are. Both of mine were public school taught, BUT there was ALWAYS homework.
I think you and Shane are doing a wonderful job teaching your kids not only academically, but how family look after each other, how to love one another and how to have fun. Kudos my friend.

My son, now 20, has aspergers. A therapist once explained autism to my son as if you were to compare a Mac computer & a HP computer. They are both computers & they both process information but they process the information in a different way. It broke it down into the most basic understanding for my son when he was little. We never treated it like a disability since we believed he could do anything just differently. Today he is attending a community college for welding. It's taking him twice as long to complete his 2 year degree and that is ok. We have always encouraged him to work at his pace. At 20 his handwriting is like an elementary student. He can't write in cursive. He signs his name in print. We've even created a cursive print combo that he understands even if nobody outside our home understands. Thank you for sharing❤ We mamas have to stick together to encourage each other! Love ya girl❤

My step daughter and daughter both have a rare genetic mutation where epilepsy is a main symptom and high rates of autism and learning and gross motor delays are common. There is a good chance that I will have to leave my job as a teacher to be with my daughter and it’s possible that she will never be able to be on her own as an adult. Hearing you talk about your son brought me a lot of comfort in knowing that I’m not alone. I worry about what would happen to my daughter if something were to happen to me too. I am so in awe of your spirit and I think you are a wonderful mother and person. The way you talk about your children’s needs is so eloquent and your love and passion for them is strongly felt. Love this video! My sister just turned 51 in July, her diagnosis is MR. She is a beautiful gift to the world and I am so glad God gave her to us! She functions on maybe a 3 to 6 year old level depending on the task at hand. Her biggest struggle has been toileting and bathing, she will not fully learn cleaning but we work on this still daily! She colors pictures and draws for others, she loves giving something special to others. When our parents pass myself and sisters will make sure she is cared for. We hope one of us will be around longer then her because it is our goal to care for her for her life time! I think your tears are from every mama and daddy with a SN child, they are our babies and we love them for our lifetime!

I worked and every night I would do two loads of laundry … was off one day during the week and had time while cleaning and did washed and dried clothes all day long until all were done!

As someone who works in the IDD community I think you are doing a phenomenal job at teaching Cameron. I so wish more parents would do this with their loved one. It is important for them to know some "core" basic learnings, however the life skills you are teaching him will help him tremendously. You are giving him routine and a "when its time for this we do this" skills. It is so helpful for him and for caretakers. It helps with family members, if ever you decide to send him to a Dayhab when he is older just for him to have his friends and get out a little, as well as when you are gone. Thank you for what you are doing. Btw, I recently discovered your page and I just absolutely love your family ❤❤ blessings to all of you!

my daughter is severely autistic. so i take her through the day learning how to do basic things that will encourage her being independent as much as she can be. dying doesn’t scare me as i know where my eternity will be, but what scares me how is my baby girl going to keep moving forward in life once i’m gone. i can relate and i feel your pain, but in the midst of this concern i tell myself to lean into God and His promises. from one homeschool mom to another we are our children’s best teacher.

My son also struggled with writing, but for him he had broken his right arm when he was about 6, and so he relied a lot on his left, and we discovered that he's ambidextrous, so he was constantly switching hands when he was learning, and it took him longer to get the hang of cursive because of it. I don't homeschool, but I truly admire it 💖 My kids have had some really wonderful teachers that have loved them almost as much I do, and for that, I'm always so thankful, because my kids absolutely love school

I had planned to homeschool all my kids, even more so when we found out he was unique. We used TEIS here in TN, I knew from my first meeting with public school he wouldn’t step a foot it in. At the time he was just starting to talk at 3 and they wanted to give him 30min of speech every 2 weeks. CRAZY. We do in home speech/ABA thanks to special needs being able to get on state insurance easier to cover the cost. It has been so worth it, in home therapy has been such a blessing.

Omg what a great video. Your kids are so fortunate to have you as their teacher. You have the right mindset to teach your kids. You know what they need and are able to teach them. You had me in tears as you were talking about your son (Camie) and if anything happened to you. I love that you teach him life skills. Exposure to all things is what all your kids need. I work at a school district with pre schoolers and what some of them don’t know because they have never been exposed to it is sad. I love everything you had to say about homeschooling. My kids are older and at one time I thought about homeschooling, but it fled my mind as quickly as it entered. If I would have heard you talk about homeschooling when my kids were in school I probably would have done it. Again I love what you had to say about homeschooling you get an A+ in my book! Keep up the good work.

I homeschooled my children for 6 years and I would say the very first year was insane. I cried out to God several times, I felt like a failure a ton of times. I looked like a super hot mess between 3 kids, 3 different grades a lunch lady, a nurse, librarian, a crossing guard, a janitor, p.e. teacher, home room teacher, a principal. And believe me I had many parent/teacher conferences every night. BUT the one lesson I can share with a brand new homeschooling parent is to STOP competing with public schools. DO Not be so hard on yourself. Kids will catch on quicker then you know. BREATHE through the process. And ABSOLUTELY FIND THE JOY IN THE MOMENT. It goes by so quickly and before you realize it will be your second year and your kids will surprise you. And just remember the public schools get money from the government to pay for ALL the jobs you are taking on and they get to send the kids home at the end of the day. You are an AMAZING, CAPABLE homeschooling teacher. You got this!

I have a few tips for you and I hope you take it as suggestions and not criticism. Regarding the laundry-get separate baskets and place items in by color. Wash one basket per day. It keeps you motivated when you are not overwhelmed. I was a single working mother of three (not by choice) and organization was my lifesaver. As for deep cleaning, target one room per day. Every morning, make your bed right away and teach your children to do that. When your bed is made, your room instantly looks better. Also, put things away, do not put down. Before you go to bed, make sure you clean that kitchen properly, take out meat from the freezer and leave in a container in the fridge for dinner the next day, straighten up the living room. The little things you do every day will keep your home and mind clutter free. A swiffer is great for daily quick bathroom and kitchen clean up. Save the heavy mopping for the weekend.

Just a suggestion for Cami. Use pictures for him to point at and possibly learn to say. You can print off pictures and laminate them. Giving him a daily schedule in the morning may help as well. It is truly possible that Cami may become more verbal as time goes on. Having worked with Autistic kids many years and having a nephew and great nephew that are Autistic they can improve with lots of love and time teaching them. God makes all things possible!✝️🙏💙 My nephew was almost nonverbal but has made significant progress.
I know you are in TN. I live in NC. Our state has a lot of programs that are free to the homeschool community through the public school system. I would encourage you to look in your state to see if there are any programs to specifically aid Cami.

I love this homeschooling video even better than the cleaning videos (just discovered you this past weekend 😊). Your philosophy and methodology of teaching your children is excellent: fit the curriculum to your kid not your kid to the curriculum, don't label kids by a grade level--they are (their name) not a grade level, and your relationship with your kid is first--you're their parent first, then their teacher. I totally agree. I always intended to home school my kids if I'd had any. I never liked standardized education b/c every child is different and learns differently, and it sets them up to fail. The only way to deal with that is by teaching them yourself. You're the one who knows them best and loves them enough to pay attention to who they are and do the best for them. Glad to see I'm not the only one with this philosophy. Love your critical thinking and drive, you are a very smart and wise girl for such a young person. I decided I really like you after watching this video. 😊 Keep going and growing strong in the Lord. Your children are BLESSED to have you as their mother. BLESSED ! 🕊❤
P.S. Shane is a hot mess. But there isn't enough gold at Fort Knox to pay for him. 🥰
