Softest MMA Sparring Gloves: Fairtex Combat vs Combat Sports Max Strike vs Ring to Cage Deluxe MiM

  • A review from my journey to find the softest sparring gloves in size Large, ended up being a choice between Fairtex Combat Sparring Gloves vs Combat Sports Max Strike MMA Gloves vs Ring to Cage Deluxe MiM Foam MMA Gloves. It turns out the Fairtex run small so an XL would be a size Large in those. The Combat Sport Max Strike are billed as the safest MMA sparring gloves and people say Fairtex is like getting hit with pilows, but I wanted to make sure. I tried to do as much research as possible for the softest MMA sparring gloves, but there was a lot of conflicting info and not many head-to-head matchups. Plus everything looks pretty much the same size online, which was pretty surprising seeing their size differences in person.
    I think these would be great for Wing Chun sparring as well, which is what I mainly intend to use them for.

    $30 where did you get them? Combats are now $69

      Looks like they don't sell them cheap anymore, I got them at Karate Joe's which is the same as MMA Joe's. Honestly though after using them for 8 months they're worth $70, they're holding up great and if I had to re-buy them I definitely would. The Fairtex just sit around for the most part, I should've just returned those but I give them to sparring partners when their gloves are crappy.

      GhostMMA if you wouldn't mind me asking without getting offended cuz I don't mean this in and offencive way how did you get into martial arts what got you to start martial arts reason why I ask is because a lot of guys get into martial arts versus boxing due to the fact that they're a little nerdy or dorky for lack of better terms and they're usually guys that are sitting in front of a keyboard at work not on TH-cam and doing a lot of scientific stuff and they've gotten picked on throughout the years cuz of the way they sound or the way they talk and then they decided to just stand up for themselves and want to learn how to defend themselves so they get into martial arts instead of boxing because it usually encompasses all different types of physical training tools to defend yourself better no offense boxing fans but when I listen to you talk it reminds me of a lot of guys including myself who when someone hears as talk they think that were just dorky nerds who needed to learn to fight so if you can keep from getting offended which I please I beg you not to be offended by my question or my statement or what I'm picking up with my own intuition could you be willing to tell me how and why you got into martial arts

      Haha not offended. I'm a dorky nerd who learned to fight. Some of the best jiu jitsu practitioners I've ever met are dorky nerds. I train at 10th Planet which is full of dorky nerds, if you have an academy near you it's worth checking out, you might feel right at home.

    • @ghostmma6773
      @ghostmma6773  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      EPSTomcat11 The CSI max strike MMA for sure, they've broken in well and my training partners love them. Also I vastly prefer sparring with friends who own them. The Fairtex have broken in more but at the end of the day there's just not as much cushion on them. I'd easily pay $60-80 for a new pair of CSI when these eventually crap out. So far no torn seams or anything either.

    Maybe the Ring to Cage ones would be okay for really light sparring?
    Because usually those really thin padding gloves do well for light contact in my experience, basically feels like a pillow instead of hard rubber jamming your nose

    Great vid! I just got my first heavy bag and am looking for gloves, what concerns me is that boxing gloves leave your thumb on the side of the fist and don’t appear to let you curl your thumb under your fist like is proper in a self defense situation Which could create a abad habit right?Do these gloves let you put your thumb in a proper bare knuckle fist for self defense, and would they be suitable for heavy bag work?
    Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks!

    • @grappedia
      @grappedia 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      not sure if youre still looking for an answer, but here it is. Boxing gloves generally have the attached thumb to prevent boxers from jamming their thumb into each other's eyes. Yes you might cultivate a habit of a looser fist which is horrible barehanded. you can try to get a bag mitt which generally either have a hooded or exposed thumb, that lets you make a really nice proper fist. but i would stick to boxing gloves as i dont want to hurt myself in training lol. besides, depending on the glove model the thumb placement will differ.

    The combat sports are the best, you must have found on special becuz they are around 70 and what most of the top ufc guys use . I found a pair of rival rs2v on special for 40 bux and they are 150 😂😂its great finding deals. I recently ordered the combat sports pair you show here and super pumped to get them!

      Johnathan H. Watson I wear those wrap gloves to keep them clean, but I also went without anything for months and they were fine. They fit snug so they don't eat your hands like bigger boxing sparring gloves.
