Fun fact: In the first Modern Horizons set, they printed Goblin Oriflame, which is a 2 mana Orcish Oriflame. The Room today is notable not only in being better than that because it has the other half of the room, but it's standard legal for the first time.
One thing to keep in mind about the Overlords is that they have 5 CMC, which means that they trigger Up the Beanstalk, even if you pay the alternative cost. Golgari Beanstalk with a graveyard theme and both green and black Overlords could be really cool.
I was literally saying "beat down boxset!" The second you framed the complaint, I'm so glad you mentioned it. We "classically trained" players need to make sure these kids don't forget our history.

O-ring that doesn't give it back is wild. That means you can just flicker it or bounce it to your hand and recast it for multiple uses. I don't think that has ever been a thing in white (outside of Skyclave Apparition). Even the current best removal in modern gives it back: Leyline Binding and Static Prison. They get a 2/2 + mill 1. So I guess it's not completely free but pretty close to free.

Worth noting that a _Render Inert_ can have Overlord of the Balemurk swinging on turn 3, and that _Overlord_ plays well with _Invasion of Fiora,_ as the flip side, _Marchesa, Resolute Monarch,_ can also remove counters from it. It sounds like a fun deck to brew.
Waltz of Rage works great with deathtouch or lifelink creatures. Or both. Also with all these impending creatures, Glissa can remove 3x counters off them. Keep that interaction in mind.
Overlord of Balemurk for Impending cost on turn two, turn three Render Inert to remove the counters and he becomes a creature, should be able to attack that turn too.
Not sure why but it irks me that the room enchantments don’t always have the cheaper room on the left side. Why randomize it! Don’t they know we got OCD outchea?
@@Tr3yWill Unholy Annex/Ritual Chamber has the static on the left and the unlock effect on the right. Same with Funeral Room / Awakening Hall. I believe that every room was *designed* with the cheaper effect on the left and the more expensive effect on the right. Any rooms that are the other way around are like that because one or both of the doors got a substantial redesign or recosting during playtesting after the art had already been commissioned.
The Pixie gets play in the reanimator style decks for its mill 4 + return card and the Overlord of the Balemurk seems pretty similar but for creatures and planeswalkers instead of the reanimate card...And the Pixie is a key card for that deck. Its very possible that the Overlord could make a reanimator decklist, but it would be significantly different style. Just needs the right cards.
Dissection Tool makes me realise that maybe Wizards banned Nadu, because they knew they couldn't simply ban the enablers as there was another 0-cost equipment in the pipeline.
overlord of the balemurk is an immediate 4 of craft for me. 2 mana mill four AND I got a creature back AND it can be a big beater later on AND its 2 card types if I have delierium stuff? Going straight into my insidious roots and "this creature costs (1) less for each creature in your graveyard" decks (the latter I am SUPER excited for as we have been missing a good mill + return a creature to hand on a body and this is now it!) I also really want to like ghostly dancers, but it probably could've cost 4 maybe even 3 mana. 5 is way too much, but I can see they didn't want it to reanimate the enchantment as that would be insane on a creature.
Exorcise ain't half bad, sure it's sorcery, but usually there's a upside for the target's owner attached to these type of cards, and this is just a disenchant and also take out something big if you don't need a disenchant, or just if a creature is more concerning.
I like the dancers that unlocks a room, for if you so private office to blow up board and follow up turn play the dancer to unlock lecture hall give hexproof and eerie all in turn 5 if your lucky
My xmas fairy land so far is using rite of the moth to reanimate valgovoth on turn 4 and use waltz with him on turn 5 on curve. 9 damage definitely wipes the board and he has life link so you gain huge health to use to cast your oppenents cards. 😮
I dont think Unidentified Hovership is all that good. We have established that Manifest Dread is a 2 mana ability... So this means the card is more like a 5 mana 2/2 vehicle that crews for 1 that exiles and creature on ETB... but, you could argue that the vehicle might never die so the opponent might never get to MD... So split the cost. This makes the card basically a 4 mana exile a creature sorcery that has a weak creature bonus...
I am also tired of saying "Sorcery would be better" It's obvious. And if it costs less mana it would be better. If it's power and toughness was increased it would be better. It would be better if the creature had Trample. It would be better if the card was better.
The hovership can be removed with the first ability on the stack, then the second triggers before the first resolves...right...? Then that would mean the player never gets to manifest because they didn't get a card exiled....right? Seems like some fun jank to build around
Yes. Now the real Magic Christmas land is to crew the Hovership, make a Balloon copy with the Jolly Balloon Man, then sacrifice the copy with the effect on the stack. The target creature gets exiled and they don't get a replacement, and you can do it again next turn.
Am I wrong in thinking that with Keys to the House you can play rooms of any colour no matter what colours your deck actually consists of, as long as you pay the activation cost of the key's second ability?
A Room has to be on the battlefield for you to control it. The only way Keys works with off-color Rooms is if you have some way to get the Room onto the battlefield without casting it. Then it enters with both doors locked and you can unlock them with the Keys.
[Unidentified Hovership], If you exile a token, does anything happen when the Hovership leaves play? There is no exiled card, you don't own it, it doesn't exist even in exile it no longer exists, also the hovership specifies "card's owner" and tokens aren't cards. So I if you exile a token, there shall be no manifesting dread what so ever. At least I think so? Am I wrong?

It seems like if a card has an unlock effect, and a static effect, the unlock is on the left, and static is on the right. Not completely random.

Tom Bombadil is a 5 color "Enchantment" commander, but specifically Saga's.
There's also Go-Shintai of Life's Origin, but that one is specifically for shrines.
