    Simon, this is excellent!
    Im a new subscriber and Life OS template user - this is exactly what I’ve been hoping to find.
    All of the videos I’ve seen so far on the template discuss how to BUILD, but I’m looking for more of this how to USE.
    Thank you so much and please keep ‘em coming👍

      Ah thanks Mike - great to hear! Yes indeed: I’ll be working more on creating these as well as hopefully some more private videos for owners to help with onboarding and using it as much as possible: it’s a balance as I’m only one guys so have to find and balance the time :) Very much noted on how to use guides: realising for newer users - I can make more user guide on video :) thanks!

    I was delighted to see this video! I second what someone said about having more user-guide-oriented videos.
    I think that to unlock the power of this system, you have to know it from the "inside", which is what happens when you build it yourself. But these more "bite-sized" videos with a full in-depth tour around certain parts of the template are helpful without being overwhelming. They are also great to adapt the system to fulfil particular needs!
    I am looking forward to more! Cheers to you, and thanks!

    • @BetterCreating
      @BetterCreating  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel you! I’m realising this more since there have been many more newer users to my world and templates: before - I think people had watched more of my videos and understood the ideas more - I’m looking at fast ways to create more simply filmed private videos for users too to guide sections. Thanks for the thoughts! :)

    Simon, thank you sooo much for this! I been into Notion about a year now (actually your channel was what got me down that rabbit hole somehow so thank you!!), and everyone gives tours about templates but not really how to customize them. I've always been intimidated by how long it would take to make a template my own but your guide here was brilliant. Will the promo still be going on May 1st? That's when I will be able to purchase. Thanks again Simon love these Notion guides!

    Simon, if I could have one wish it would be for you to spend more time in your videos explaining WHY to do something before HOW to do it. It might be that you have another excellent video on the topic that I've not yet found, but keep us slow adopters in mind. Your brain works so quickly to solve the problem, while mine is still trying to define the problem to solve. You've reached the how before I've gotten there. And feeding the cat and fixing the motorbike are too simplistic examples for me to identify with. I could use a PostIt note for one task with three dependencies. Get in the weeds with us. I suspect more of us will follow you than you think. This is NOT a criticism. That would be like criticizing other great thinkers because I can't follow. I'm just asking you to back up and drag me along. PS I'm on the mailing list and I've purchased the latest template, but I'm still staring at it like an ape stares at a piece of straw. I know (somehow) it will solve all my organization problems, but how the Hell do I use it.... Sure I could read those books you mentioned, but ain't nobody got time for that!

      Ah thanks Paul - great feedback - definitely due some more videos focused on this stuff. Plenty on the channel thou - I’m thinking or re-arranging my playlist to make this stuff easier to find :) for this example - I thought I’d keep it simple to show functions, will plan on more videos on day to day use, and thinking behind process again! Cheers! S

    How do I track habits that I don't want to do daily? Like working out doesn't have to be daily, how do you put this up?

    • @BetterCreating
      @BetterCreating  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In this system you set the number you want to cover in total and then track against that - so 2/3 times a week. But in honestly - I want to update and amend this section soon to allow for period based and unit based tracking again a little more easily - eg. Date to this date 2 times a week - I think I have a great solution! :)

    Can a button be leveraged for creating a new habit where the only user step would be creating the button on the side panel? I.e daily tracker DB anew column plus year roll up?

    • @BetterCreating
      @BetterCreating  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting idea - probably - but it wouldn’t create the rollup reports. :)

    • @danielhuertas2239
      @danielhuertas2239 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BetterCreating it’s be nice to minimize the manual changes required. If the only manual addition was creating the one relation that wouldn’t be too bad. (Maybe as default can ship with like 15 habits premade and then just would have to add a button/roll up for each one as you use it. (But rest of data would exist)

  • @agataposwojemu
    @agataposwojemu ปีที่แล้ว

    Simon, In your Life OS, do recurring templates remember linked relations?

    • @BetterCreating
      @BetterCreating  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes - anything you have set up in the saved database template, including relation links will be duplicated when they are actioned into the database (This is more a Notion function than related to my template specifically) :)

    Based on my personal experience, Notion seems like a dangerous tool that is blinded by money. If you make a mistake in inviting members, you will be automatically charged for an additional year, and there seems to be no way to prevent it. There are many good tools out there, so if you choose to use Notion, use it for personal use only and be extremely cautious with collaboration. I recommended it for students' homework submissions, and ended up being automatically charged over $5,000. When I raised the issue, instead of a refund, I was given useless credits worth $5,000, and they said they couldn't provide a refund after 3 days. Hundreds of dollars can disappear in an instant. Notion is an extremely risky and insane company. Unless your company is paying for it, I highly recommend avoiding it, and if you investigate, you'll see that it incurs tremendous costs. $5,000 is unusable even for a personal plus account and I think the company is just terrible. You'd be better off using MS Loop or other tools.
    Never use Notion for anything other than a personal free account. And even the personal free account is garbage. You have to pay a lot of money just to do anything, and it's all automatic.
    It's a tool from a company that's really suspect at its core.

    • @BetterCreating
      @BetterCreating  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you had an unusually bad experience! I’ve used a free account for years to run my business all on Notion for free and it’s amazing what it does. I’ve also invited people as guests for free for years. I now use the premium service as I wanted to add two team members and have found it to be fine.
      Eek! Yes - using it for hundreds of student submissions by inviting them as members one my one sounds like a bit of a Nightmare if everyone was added as a member ! Sorry to hear that: I’d write to a Notion person again directly and share your story - they have struck me as good and reasonable people - they should share a refund for you given this unusual and costly mistake happening for you personally. Hope you get it fixed. Good luck!
