- Since the early ’60s, SPB supported Ilayaraja and his brothers through their music career. SPB who has a staggering achievement of 40,000 songs in a career span of over 50 years has worked with Ilayaraja to create some of the most evergreen tunes such as Unna Nenache Pattu Padichen from Apoorva Sagodharargal and Mandram Vantha Thendralukku in Mouna Ragam.
A gifted singer, he is highly regarded for his incredible vocal range, deep rich voice, and mastery of style, technique, and control. These qualities allowed him to express across various genres of Indian music, and he has been highly sought-after by many of India's film music composers. His approach to singing is methodical; he perseveres to understand the full meaning of the songs that he sings (many of which are very poetic) and the settings in which these songs are couched in order to make it most effective. S.P.B., though was very young, started singing for many different language films.

A very true and soulful friendship.. our Maestro Ilayaraja Sir and SPB Sir. No one to replace them yet. No one dare to touch their glory and achievements. Hundreds of musicians and singers will come and fade out, but Maestro Ilayaraja and SPB Sir's combination will stand out forever and stay in our hearts until our last breath. Today's music cannot even be hummed in bathrooms. When budding youngsters sing today's songs in competitions or TV reality shows, feel really sad that none of the song touches our soul. But when they sing the songs of our Maestro Ilayaraja Sir, there is complete peace with bliss. This is very true. Music is for the soul and not just for the ears. Let today's music directors understand this and give their best. In the name of technology we have lost the soulfulness in the songs.. it is largely only sounds that we hear.. I am blessed to live in the era of Raja Sir/SPB Sir. I am gifted to listen only to their songs right from Annakili. My love for my Maestro Raja Sir/SPB Sir is immeasurable and is here to stay. Long live both of them... Praying to God Almighty to Bless them in abundance. Love you Raja Sir..

Great . Eventhough i am not a tamilian, i am watching this interview and try to understand what is saying. Each and every good interview, conversation, concert , good video of Shri SP B sir is divine. Sir is a real soul of good human. Defenetly this musician lived with divine power. Ofcourse He is in heaven. At the same time feel sooo sad.
