I wish I'd seen your videos before signing up for Heptabase - I would have happily used your affiliate link. you're a really great presenter and I hope to see many more of. your videos as Heptabase implements new capabilities.

Wow! I really enjoyed this video on the new highlighting options and tasks in Heptabase. It's clear that you have a deep understanding of the software, and did a great job of explaining the new features in a way that is both easy to understand and practical. 😊

What throws me of is that there is a 7-day trial - how is the "all export" functionality of Heptabase? Will I be locked in once I change

Your concern is a legitimate one. I might be wrong, but I can pretty much guarantee that you’ll eventually be able to export all your notes-the “cards” that contain those notes, that is-just as you can export Obsidian or Logseq files. What I assume you’ll never be able to export is the boards and whatever arrows and what not you place between cards and other elements on a Heptabase board. That’s because there isn’t some universally agreed-upon code for creating things like boards-Heptabase does it its way, Obsidian’s Canvas feature does it another way, and so on. Same goes for transcluded text.

Dr Perry, I signed up with Heptabase through your link and now "own" it but haven't yet spent more than perhaps 30 minutes with it. What resources might you recommend for learning how to use Heptabase?

I recommend you check out the Heptabase wiki: wiki.heptabase.com You can also look for TH-cam videos by Paperless Movement (Tom Solid). He has one that’s almost an hour that shows some of the basics. I hope to come out with some introductory videos at some point, but that won’t be soon.
