    Thank you for this!! Also, what cables would you need to play the OP-1 through some external guitar effect pedals? Is it as simple as 1/8" to 1/4" into pedal and then 1/4" to 1/4" into interface/mixer? Or would that create a hiss or cut off one side of the stereo signal, making you need a 1/4" to dual 1/4" or XLR into the interface? Cheers!

    Thanks!
    Quick note though: I've read somewhere that depending on the output type, sending the instrument signal directly from the amp out to the OP-1 can fry the OP-1 mainboard so...maybe not a recommended option!

      Thank you for clarifying. True, you shouldn't send any signal carrying power into the OP1 such as a speaker output. It's safe to send from an effect loop or a passive direct out, however. Most bass amps have an xrl direct out that sends a signal out at mic level, which will not damage the OP1.

      I have a KAWAI CL 36 digital keyboard. This keyboard has a headphone in jack which I plugged directly into my op1 (i didn't know about this issue) (instead of connecting headphones to the keyboard I connected the op1 directly as this guy did). Did it ruin my device? It seems to work just fine but now I'm paranoid. Should I be able to tell if that has happened?

    2:21 I think actually you don't even need to go into the synth sampler, I've done this method by only turning on the sample button in tape mode, it will open the line input regardless of what synth engine is on. then orange knob while in tape mode to set record volume.

    This was so so helpful. I just got the OP-1 today and this was exactly the info I needed. Also, thanks for describing the adapter cable that connects the guitar to the OP-1. Didn't know you could record an album with the vinyl function. Super cool. Thank you!!

    Is there any way to preamp effects or the lfo through this? I know that if you record into the tape with an effect over the master it will come through, but I’m not sure if it will stay after recording and turning the effect off. And you can sample a riff or a line if you can find a way to hold a key while playing and then choose an effect and lfo setting in post but is there any way to route those effects through the sampler so you can just play with those effects and get a feel for them before recording? Sorry if this is confusing and complicated but it would be cool to basically use the op1 as a pedal or effect box, you feel me?

      I have wondered the same thing and I haven't come up with a way to do it. It may be possible, but I haven't done it. If you find a way, let me know!

    Hi! when i record my guitar in to tape on op1 the record starts clipping and its so annoying, any tips for this? thank you!

    • @SteveBurke
      @SteveBurke  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can try reducing the volume or gain from your guitar or reducing the input gain using the orange knob as demonstrated in the video. Good luck!

    Can the OP-01 work as a live effects pedal for guitar or bass too?

    I don’t understand why you need to choose Sampler, if you record direct to to tape or vinyl

    • @SteveBurke
      @SteveBurke  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it gives you a separate gain control. You can stage your gain level there and then again on the tape. Not necessary if your input is hot enough, helps if you’re playing a passive instrument with no preamp as I am.

    • @SteveBurke
      @SteveBurke  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Update* So you're right, there is a way to do this without adjusting the gain in the sampler. Just hit shift+mic and you can access the same gain control as going to the sampler. Thanks for catching that.

    Is there a time limit on recording into a loop? Say I wanted to record a whole 5:00 song, then use that song as a sample and add in other parts on top. Is that all possible within the op-1 without having access to a computer?

    • @SteveBurke
      @SteveBurke  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only time limit on a loop is the length of the tape (6 minutes at full speed). You can always add more layers to each tape track so yes, I believe the op1 can do what you're hoping it can.
