    Somehow someway sign Darnold for 2 years. JJ has not proven much in the NFL, Darnold has. He still needs to prove himself in the playoffs, and if he does, you just don't let a top tier QB walk

    We have been looking for a franchise QB since Tommy Kramer. How dumb to not at a minimum franchise tag him for $41M? How do you risk that?

      We haven’t had a franchise QB since Fran. Tommy could have been but injuries derailed that.

      It’s been well documented and stated that this front office told Darnold this would be a 1 year thing for him to use them to go get a Baker Mayfield type bag. This plan will still not change even if he wins us a bowl, you have to plan for the future no matter what your Monday morning QB instant reaction is

      @@justingraham2656things change. Especially when the guy is playing like a top 5 QB in the MVP conversation on a 13+ win team. No one expected darnold to be this good. Top organization don't let QBs having a season like this walk win or lose in the playoffs. This team is in a 2-3 year win now window. Darnold gives them the best chance to win over that stretch. JJ replicating darnolds season is highly unlikely especially giving the fact that he hasn't been developing. He's been on his couch rehabbing. He hasn't been practicing or and learning like Pat mahomes did or Jordan love or Rodgers. He's been on his couch. They will pay him. They can't risk not to. Try not to lose the locker room going from an MVP type 13 win season to and unknown. You're gonna lose the locker room.

    Fair would be 50m 4years fully guaranteed or 5 years 225m 25signing bonus fully guaranteed if i was sam this would be a team friendly deal to keep getting great players franchises at 41 and going to go up every year ...

  • @vinrusso821

    People keep saying 40 million to sign him, but that is so misleading. Darnold is not some Diva, he wants to play with the Vikings. I can assure you he ain't hurting for money, and would sign a very cap friendly contract.

    Fist off, people need to STOP calling his knee a major injury. As injuries go , meniscus repair is NOT considered a major injury. Look it up.
    As for Sam coming back. Just enjoy whatever happens. Sam is not coming back. There is no way they will just throw in the towel on a 3 year plan to get to a rookie contract. This idea that JJ is a bigger risk than Sam is laughable. There is no way to know if Sam repeats this. KO has already declared JJ the franchise qb publicly. Given the way he looks at how franchises fail qb's. He will not be that guy. Then thrown in D Jones signing. If they were entertaining keeping Sam, why even bring him here? For what purpose? Jones will be the backup safty blanket to JJ. Kwesi wants as much cap space as possible to build to the max starting in 25. Given that they don't have much draft capital, they need players.
    People also think if they win the SB that it is a slam dunk Sam is back. It has the opposite effect. It prices him WAY out of possible returning. That is a 60M range.
    Pushing money down the road is how we got in the Kirk situation. Remember CD and JETS have a ton of money already pushed out. Then we will have to pay JJ when those contracts hit big. Keeping the cap low with JJ keeps the window open longer. So if we win a SB we finally get the monkey off our back and you have achieved the first SB goal. Now let's build a perennial power house. In this division with what is coming, we can't afford to not take advantage of the rookie contract. Or get left behind.

    You can't go 13+ wins and then go one and done ....I don't care what expectations were to start the season ...They have to win at least 1 and honestly they should at least make it to the Championship game and MAKE that a GAME (I don't want to throw any past championship game scores out there)!! Just having a great, fun regular season can't be good enough ,They need to make noise in the playoffs or what are they doing ?

    I’m 61 years old, remember the last three Super Bowls. Franchise tag Darnold or try to keep him 2/3 yrs. A quarterback like Darnold does not come to the Vikings often. No offense to JJ but there is no guarantee that JJ can play at the height that Darnold is giving us. Darnold could bring us to a Super Bowl this year and probably the next two years- no guarantee a first year NFL player that JJ would be would progress to elite status. Look at Stroud he had a good rookie year but regressed his sophomore year.
    Keep Darnold-

    With all respect to Sam, he can’t perform all of the playbook that KO wants to be able to use. Sam can’t thrown (see) the dink and dunk when it’s there. So they have to wait until the hunt down field throws are available. When you play championship teams, you need to have the full play book available to consistently win. JJ has that total playbook ability. The question is can he actually do it consistently. So they do have some huge decisions to make this off season. The ceiling is higher for JJ. But Sam has a very high floor playing like he has been. KO will make the decision and it could be keeping them both.

    Wutchu gonna do about CB?? Y'all are talking about Sam whilst Murph, Bynum, possibly AJ again will take up a chunk of cash that Alec states will be free...that extra cash, with 3 draft picks, has GOTTA go to free agent CBs, a min of 2 of them, preferably 3

      Vikings have one of the lowest cap hits in the league starting next year. Tons of space, and a very capable front office at maneuvering contracts to make it all work. And 41 million is a bargain for a good QB in 2025, and even more so in 2026 (when they could franchise again).

    • @jonkarg2528
      @jonkarg2528 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @BlaundNordic , yes but if you have been paying attention, Kwesi isn't going to overpay for free agents either. He's not going to pay $20+ million a year per free agent like his predecessor did. He doesn't need to. This year proved that.

    If he can help beat GB and Detroit, plus playoffs, he's staying. If he reverts to mistake prone Sam, and is sloppy, and loses early playoff exit, then he's problem not. Jax,Tenn, Indy, Chi twice,Az, Sea were favoured to win all. He's been fantastic, but next 2 are THE most important measuring sticks.

  • @BlaundNordic
    @BlaundNordic 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    The cap hit, 3 draft picks at this moment, Danny Dimes in the building as a stop-gap, Kwes is analytical and makes NO sense to put $$ into the Darnold keep when KOC is also in the building...let Sam get his bag with the Rams, Browns, he knows he was here for 1 year, fans would do well to know that, too

      Finally, someone that gets it!
      Why destroy your salary cap for a bridge QB? For all of the noise that the 'former' players and coaches, as well as the talking heads in the media are spewing, please consider what they did in the league before believing their loud talk.
      Sam is having a fantastic SEASON, so far! I've worked in an NFL franchise, and I can flat out say that the average fan has no clue of how to put an NFL roster together. Neither could the average fan coach a team in the league with any measure of success.
      These are the same dans that complained that KOC and KAM should have been fired just a few months ago. Let the professionals do what the professionals do!

    The Sam Darnold hype train will be over after the Vikings lose to both The Packers and Lions. I have no faith the Vikings can beat high level teams because their running game is just too fragile. The Vikings will be a rerun of 2022, 13-4 record and 1 and done in the playoffs.

  • @satherbarry

    Please Alec, close the door on this ridiculous nonsense of the Vikings resigning Darnold for a cap breaking 140-150 million 3 year contract. The only option here is to franchise tag Sam in the event we have a trade already in hand. Stick with the plan of rebuilding the supporting cast. Love Sam, hopes he brings us a Super Bowl win. Then JJ can follow it up with another Super Bowl win. Enough said.

      We don't even know if JJ can be a good qb in the NFL let alone lead a team to the playoffs. The goal of NFL teams is to find a franchise QB so when you find one you don't let them go. Put down what you been smoking and leave the thinking to the experts.

      @ KOC came out after the injury, said we have our franchise quarterback in the building. During training camp the conversation was saying JJ might start given his practice and competition with Darnold. The team still has holes and needs. Signing Darnold to a 3-4 year contract would erase the cap space this administration worked to achieve. Casual fans always want to run it back. Vikings have been doing that for decades. Trust the plan that Kwesi/KOC have for a winning Super Bowl team.
