For decades, I thought that if I could have any race car ever made, it would be a GT-40 Mk II, but in time, I came to see the XJR-9 LM belonging at the top of my list.
@@Loulovesspeed No, more like Agincourt, Trafalgar, Waterloo, Jutland, the Battle of Britain, & the Falklands not to mention international motorsports !🇬🇧
@@GBURGE55 - Oooooooo, Me thinks I struck a nerve there! I will concede the Battle of Britain, your finest hour indeed! Poor Winny was a savior, only to be tossed to the side after the war! Tisk, tisk!
@@Loulovesspeed He WAS tossed aside in 1945 that's very true, but he was re-elected again in 1951. As far as hitting a nerve about (I'm presuming) 'The Boston tea party', nobody gives a hoot about it in Britain. It means nothing to the average man in the street (& yes that includes me!)
Just listen to it, the only engines which sound better are the Rolls Royce Merlin and the Bristol Siddley Olympus in the Avro Vulcan but even so JUST LISTEN TO IT
It's the 1987 Jaguar XJR8-287 which Boesel and Cheever (and Nielsen) won the 1000km at Silverstone, Jerez, Brands Hatch and the Nurburgring. with. It was converted to XJR9LM spec for Le Mans in 1988 and raced again at Le Mans in 1989.
The number 4 was originally an XJR8. It won 4 races in 1987 but didn't race at Le Mans until 1988 and 1989 after it had been converted to XJR9LM spec. It's shown as the '87 car these days.
What a beast
I cannot believe there isn’t a documentary or a short film (eg like Petrolocious would make) about the ‘88 win at Le Mans with these XJR-9s
That may not be what you're looking for, but Google "TWR and Jaguar : When the Big Cat roared". Full documentary about those Jaguars!
@@jeancharlesdu21 thank you very much!
A real mans car!

This is what a racecar should sound like

I’m going to say it… There is no better sounding LM race car, the hairs were standing on my head👌🏻
Sauber C291, McLaren F1 GTR LM, Lola T70, Ferrari 333sp, Mazda 787b, and more
PERFECT.❤💛💙💋
Sick!
Epic
Flyin' LOW!
my question is How the team change the rear tires?
muhammad shofwan the fairings came off easy enough.

Only the Brits would go racing with a fire breathing V12 😂
I'm a Brit, & I'm incredibly proud of our motorsports heritage but surely the Italians (Ferrari!) are better known for using V12's?
Driven by Justin Law I presume
Yes
It's not a XJR-9, is the XJR-12 winner of Le Mans 1990
its a 9
Not true
XJR12
I think that is actually an 8 from 1987.

SO MUCH DOWNFORCE
Not at these "low" speeds, actually. But get it on the old Mulsanne straight c1988 (no ruddy chicanes) and then it's working.
49800 Giuseppe Creek
This wasn't the version actually used in the le mans
Not the aero package, but the car is
I bet you fun at parties
Correct. The footage of the number 4 car was not the winner of le mans. The picture of the number 2 car is the le mans winner.
The number 4 was originally an XJR8. It won 4 races in 1987 but didn't race at Le Mans until 1988 and 1989 after it had been converted to XJR9LM spec. It's shown as the '87 car these days.
Not the le mans winner
