This is a beautiful mockery of how to restore an old diesel motor. The level of detail is exquisitely painful, and the attention to safety is almost prehistoric. Well done...
You should learn valve lapping some time, it’s worth a fair bit of sealing power and it’s easier than you think, just make sure you can clean it up after
Interesting way to get the torque setting just right on those head bolts. Just pull until the vein in you arm stands proud and you get that first grunt.
No, he lined up the marks on the gears, to be fair to him. I agree otherwise, it pains me that he didn’t even hone the bore let alone measure it and see if it needed a re-bore.
Nice job, but dont paint internals by color. Oil can dissolve color. Pigments are abrasive and could damage bearings and piston rings. If internals of engine was painted originally it was special sealant color for cast iron to prevent oil contamination from cast iron by casting sand. Really NEVER point jet from injector on skin. Fuel can pierce skin.
These dudes are literally buying engines and motors at junk yards, burying them in dirty/mud, then digging them up to "repair" for youtube views. They aren't using these engines. It's entirely for youtube money.
I don't think these Southeast Asian 'restorers' are doing it to make 'serviceable' equipment. If it looks good and starts up and runs for a few minutes to get the 'views', that's good enough. Obviously with 1.5M it must be working! LoL

very interesting! those mechanics are extremely clever with all their low-tech tricks like the improvised piston ring compressor strips. that being said, not sure how good an idea it is to let paint get inside the engine, seems like that can dissolve and start wearing surfaces.
I was thinking the same thing. I believe I saw them spray primer and paint on the cylinder wall. I appreciate the new rings, but did they hone? No new main bearings. Then they painted the cylinder head surface.
Wow very amazing!! ,Next time you keep safe your face from cranking the engine it May accidentally smash by the crnking lever ,because of my viewingo on your effort ,it make me remember at my past with using this machine for farming ,so great thank for you
I’ve seen a lot of videos using these engines and it seems like they last forever if taken care of, it doesn’t look like they burn much diesel either! I’d love to have one and run a generator with it! Probably why they’re not sold here in the United States, don’t burn much fuel so that won’t help the fuel industry! lol 😂 just hand crank em and they’re going! Thanks for sharing this video my friend! Always educational to watch! 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Yeah... NO. The only reason this engine doesn't burn much fuel is because most of it leaks past the valves, the cylinder, and the seals! It won't reach high enough RPM's to run a generator, unless you add a gearbox, to convert the torque to speed. Seriously, a modern riding lawn mower has more horse power than this old thing, and weighs less than the whole damned engine...
The best part is when he stuck his hand in the spray pattern when he was "pop testing" the fuel injector, nothing like diesel fuel in your blood stream
👉2:00 Fast bell sound ASMR.... Play that on a 5 hour loop. He doesn't seem too concerned with NOT getting debris into the various wide open components....

Or your ring piece pops out.
Over here we tight this half turn before break and that's the torque.
Well, it's Chinese. That's prolly how they did it at the factory.
Yeah just line the gears up any which way it's not like the timing matters. Don't worry about replacing the crankshaft seal either just paint over it.
reuse the old main bearing, which is cooked, as is the surface of the crank journals
