Fully 100% back this. Broken or bent too many decks over the years, and it's always meant I will had to get rid of a sweet deck. Having the TDI system is genius. Completely agree on the axle/spacer standardisation. I work for Doggscooters, and I can't tell ya how many people I get coming in with different sizes of spacers and decks, expecting me to have every single type of component available 😂. Counting the days until Proto drops the 6" space deck so I can join the future ❤️
This is one point we forgot to mention but yes, it reduces shipping logistics and aluminum waste both of which the scooter industry can have a better impact on world resources with.
I love you Andrew. You are the god father of modern day freestyle scooters. Forever creating new and better products. True core vibes right here. Never give up. !!!
Andrew you truly are a genius! Coming from a shop where I have worked on so many scooters of all shapes and sizes and trying to find spacers and axles for them is an absolute nightmare so the standardized spacers and axles is complete and utter genius plus supporting a brand like Proto is always work it because you truly care about scootering which you don’t find from a lot of places now a days so again I say thank you Andrew you’re the greatest
learnt more here than I did taking business for 2 years back in the day. Only Andrew could teach such a thing to the industry, whilst basically firing shots at companies that produce whole piece systems. Gotta say that the whole pricing strategy is amazing, but my fear is other companies may catch on and... (pherhaps shouldn't say the rest) but I genuinely hope this all goes according to plan!
@@PROTOScooters Thanks for replying Andrew. Yes that's the sad truth unfortnatley, however whatever happens, I'm sure you have something in your arsenal. 2019 is yours💚
PROTO scooters I’m debating on getting a tsi or a space deck but I’m worried it’s gonna be not wide enough because I don’t really wanna switch back to 5 wide
Would love to see 5.5, 5.75 and 6 wide decks and 22.5, 22.75, 23, 24 etc. I currently run 5.2 x 23 but feel like 5.2 isn't wide enough and 23 is a little long. Feel like 5.75 x 22.75 would be nice.
At 4:51 Andrew mentions using shoulder screws "for their extremely tight fit", but isn't the point of shoulder screws to be bottomed out so the shoulder is in double-shear? Looking at the cross-section at 5:21, the screws are fastening the neck to the deck from both sides, so wouldn't bolts with lock washers achieve the same, if not greater, rigidity for less? I don't intend to criticize, obviously Mr. Broussard knows his product better than anyone, and his years of research have rewarded the scooter industry with numerous innovations. I'm just curious that's all.
Technically the hardware we are using is not a true shoulder screw because the shoulder and the threads are the same diameter, true shoulder screws do have smaller threads so the cylinder can bottom out and be used as a pivot point in some applications, the TDITH hardware is just a standard shoulder bolt but was easier to describe the way we did for the video sake. Also, if you have ever noticed when you run an axles with threads in the drop outs, the threads start digging into the dropout because there is less surface area making contact. Essentially the same thing happened when we used the heli coils, a threaded shaft makes virtually no contact aside from the points of the threads versus a flat cylindrical shank which makes full supported contact. Hope that explains!
Yoooo this is crazy, I never thought I'd like something like the tdi DeX and nex. But once he broke it down, it opened my eyes to a lot of other things 💯 appreciate you guys over at proto. I'd like to put this invention to use though 👀 when can you ship me one?
You should have received the announcement but they will be available for wholesale when we restock all the sizes in a week or so. And Than You for the Support, we are really looking forward to getting feedback from shops on this project finally!
definitely see all the benefits Elmer bin telling me the same stuff u saying in all ur videos I would love to see proto take over and become the real true stander in scooters
I fully back this 100%, but I think the main reason why people don't ride these decks and stuff is because they are a little beefy and heavy compared to most decks out there, if they were lighter and ect people would buy loads of them ❤️
PROTO NEX & DEX are still manufactured in the United States which is the only reason they are still a little expensive. We strongly believe that if someone spends the extra money to support our products, it is our duty to deliver a product that lasts as long as possible as strong as possible which generally means adding material (and weight) where other decks are breaking to guarantee a longer lifespan.
this is deceiving as a shop would have to still stock just as many headtubes as deck plates to sell the same amount of decks, if a shop only stock 5 nex and 10 dex that is only 5 complete decks they can sell, with 5 deck extrusions left over.
Love your vids, but isnt your tdi system patented? Essentially making standardization of this system impossible? Other companies would need to make extrusions compatible with your necks and that would be illegal. Am i wrong?
ethan salsbury you’re wrong in that he’d have to press charges on the company for using the patent. But if he chooses to let other companies use it they can. It’s the same thing as the scs. Proto owns the patent for SCS but allows other companies to use the system
It is Patented and we will control when and how other companies use the TDI system that we developed to ensure that the quality and compatibility of our system is not jeopardized.
Our goal is to standardize and stabilize the scooter industry for everyone involved. We will do our best to supply the specs that the market demands but ultimately TDI is bigger than just us.
At some point everyone else will wake up to this man’s genius.
Hes been ridin six inch WAYYY before aztek and urbanartt!

Awesome!
I know I’m a year late but I’m really considering about buying this. 5 wide is a perfect size for me, its a good wat to save money, and ride proto🛴
I would definitely get this deck, but one issue I have is how it's only a 6 wide. Though would definitely love to see a 6.5.
It will be done soon.

Will the 7" and 8" inch will really be released ?! 😍
I hope so much !
