    Super interesting stock - thanks for alerting us to it! A small correction however - the dividend policy is 50% MINIMUM, not maximum as stated in the video. The full dividend policy from the 2022 annual report is as follows:
    According to Yancoal policy and subject in each case to
    applicable laws, the ongoing cash needs of the business,
    the statutory and common law duties of the Directors and
    shareholders’ approval, the Directors may pay interim or final
    dividends, and per the Company’s Constitution must:
    • subject to the point below, pay as interim and/or final dividends
    not less than (A) 50% of net profit after tax (pre-abnormal items);
    or (B) 50% of the free cash flow (pre-abnormal items), in each
    financial year; and
    • if the Directors determine that it is necessary in order to
    prudently manage the Company’s financial position, pay as
    interim and/or final dividends not less than 25% of net profit
    after tax (pre-abnormal items) in any given financial year.

    Just a slight correction. It trades on the Hong Kong exchange as well as the ASX. Although mainland Chinese can own the stock via Stock Connect. They shouldn't do buybacks but they might acquire more assets like BHP's mines. A lot of holders like myself are happy to just sit back and bank the dividends. Their divs are also fully franked and likely to be in the future.

      Yeah that's right, the dividends are juicy. We're definitely interested to see if FIRB would have anything to say about a proposed M&A deal.

    I hold YAL, SMR, TER and BCB. YAL may appreciate because of the small float and the small number of investors who want divs. SMR is going up now with increasing coking coal price. No divs yet and issues with Indonesian majority shareholder but I like their position. TER, last FY I got back over 4x in cash and more in FC than my average buy in. Should have sold at over $1 but divs are still very good even if a lot lower. BCB is a disappointment so far but….. I know you guys are in WA and coal is on the nose and “dying”. But, it is writing a very long goodbye letter and Aussie coal should be the last to leave the global market. A special show on coal stocks, diff in thermal and coke markets and a credible view of future demand would be worthwhile IMO. PS I really like what you guys a doing. A breath of fresh air.

    Wood was followed by coal was followed by oil was followed by uranium but the overall use of wood, coal and oil are still rising. Wind and solar may be the dream but wood to uranium is the reality and continue to be the font of the vast majority of baseload power.
