    Another excellent discussion Chris , thank you so much. There are so few people talking about animal behavior and psychology , that actually know what they are talking about. I hope you and Gaby had a wonderful Thanksgiving , I love and appreciate you both so much❤❤❤🐊

    Very educational video Chris. I get so frustrated with people trying to anthropomorphize wild animals. You may form a bond with them but they do not love us. Another example is Kevin Richardson, the Lion Whisperer. He’s rescued and raised lion cubs for 25 years at his wildlife sanctuary and has close bonds with them. But he’s the first to admit they would kill him over a piece of meat then carry on with their day as if nothing happened. Wild animals can never be tamed and are never pets. We love them but they don’t love us. I still adore Casper even though he’d death roll me in an instant. 😉

    I believe you're right. I think Poncho is conditioned to know he's not in danger, I'm sure there is a bond of trust but nothing more. some animals can feel love but others can't because they evolved differently and their brains aren't as developed in some areas as others. I noticed in every video that I've seen of you and Casper that you keep an eye on him. you constantly monitor him while you are in the water with him. you understand him and that he's a wild animal.

    I can cite event after event in which someone had one or more wild animals that “loved” them and ended up mauled and/or dead as a result. And no matter how much it’s the human’s fault, the animal always pays with its life. Also cases where people were mauled or killed by pet dogs. And, sadly lots of cases where humans did the same. We are animals. All of us. It’s the worst kind of pseudoscience to pretend otherwise. If we don’t acknowledge what is, for lack of a better word, dangerous in ourselves and nature, including damaging it, things will never improve. Excellent video.

    Some people will never accept the truth about things that they strongly believe in, even when it's proven to be false. You're never going to convince some people that crocodilians can't express love, even though you're an expert on crocodilians. They are so bent on believing in nonsense that they will refuse to hear anything different even if its the truth.

  • @Bobbiewhale

    The crystals line! 😂 ... Great video, so important, because like you say, it's these fairy tale stories that other ppl try to copy, that get people hurt, or killed, and it's the animals that will suffer. I don't know why people want to hear about the science and skls behind working with different anims though. It's far more fascinating than the made up "disney" stories (and I'm a huge disney fan lol). The thing is that pretty much anyone can learn to train different animals, if they want to listen and apply the science. Doesn't matter if its dogs, parrots horses or even crocodiles or alligators, it's qbout applying the research and practices that have been proven to work, and learning how to do that is far more exciting than just thinking this one person can do it bc he has magical powers.

    Something I've been thinking about on this topic is
    Do some of these individual crocs/gators people see as being loving maybe just happen to like the physical sensation of human contact
    So like scratching an itch or stretching my legs feels good to me but has no emotional component.
    Do some of these animals who have been handled by humans maybe then appear to seek physical contact with that person purely cause they like the sensation of being touched or petted by a human and then people being as social as we are will read that as seeking affection when to the croc/gator it's more just like scratching an itch or sitting in a comfy warm spot, it just produces a pleasant physical sensation?
    Does anyone think something like that could be a possibility in some of these cases?

    Maybe crocodilians can associate another animal like a human with being a non-threatening source of food and that's as far as the relationship goes. It's viewers like us that anthromorphize the situation. All that said, Casper swimming past and acting 🗿 at random moments is pretty funny.

  • @toscadonna
    @toscadonna 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I believe Pocho was severely brain damaged by the bullet to the head, and that’s what kept him from eating Chito. Crocodiles are different from alligators. I don’t think anyone can ride on a crocodile’s back repeatedly in the water and not get eaten. But that’s just how I see things. Crocodilians don’t have the capacity to love and bond-just like other apex predators. Sharks don’t love either. I’m wondering whether the metabolic bone disease crocodilians experience in captivity is related to cooked food and prey items that have been frozen? Freezing and cooking removes nutrients and enzymes. I don’t know if you’ve ever watched or read, “ Pottenger’s Cats,” but Dr. Pottenger proved many years ago that pasteurization and cooking will deform the skulls and teeth of cats, will effect their coordination and behavior, and will lead them to be sterile within 4 generations.

    • @JJJBunney001
      @JJJBunney001 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thsts a myth about food losing nutrients when cooked or frozen, there is some change but it's not that extreme. Also no, American crocodiles aren't that different from gators that they can't be taught the same things.
      There's plenty of videos out there of other non brain damaged crocs all over the world being treated the same way and not eating people

    I understand what you are saying here and I think it’s super important to educate on the reality of alligator/ human behaviour and I’ve watched many of your videos, and really enjoyed learning from them; but I found this one hard to watch because of the condescending manner in which you express things. You relentlessly mock people who have been miseducated or choose to believe in pseudosciences. I understand it must be really frustrating for you that people hold these attitudes, but I don’t think you have to be condescending towards these people in order to get your point across. Putting people down just to make a point seems mean spirited.

    • @toscadonna

      Mocking and condescending is the least of these deluded people’s worries; they’re setting themselves up to get seriously injured or killed by a gator.
