Been living in the area my whole life but just recently bought land right near the battlefield. Really cool to learn the history of it. Thanks for sharing

Good job! It's so fascinating to hear about the history that took place where my ancestors are from.

Middlecreek Battlefield, Boone County, Kentucky, United States Nelson Boggs died there that day. He was a Sargent and his body was placed there that day while the battle raged on. My uncles brother, one being my grandfather, James Boggs, fought with the 13th that day under Garfield. Garfield later presided over the funeral for my uncle. He was buried on Caines Creek, Blain, Kentucky.

I had a lot of ancestors participate in the battle of Middle Creek: Barkers, Holbrooks, Reynolds for the KY 5th Regiment.

What were the confederate cavalry units engaged at Middle Creek?

Please pardon me, because I don't know offhand. (We were the hosts for this program, not the speakers.) This is the most thorough synopsis of the battle we could find online: www.middlecreek.org/history/
It includes their commanders' names but not the names of the units. I hope that's helpful.
