    I'm glad these cars are inside. I've found many rare cars sitting in fields and woods. Many times I tried to buy but was told "I'm gonna fix it someday" decades later most of those cars are still there. Rotted away! It's terrible.

    The allure of muscle car projects is strong for gearheads. Problem is if you are too good at finding them it easy to acquire more than you can ever get to, especially as time goes by and you get older. Good to see them stored in a dry environment, makes it an easier restoration than if left to rot in the dirt and bushes outside. I am sure these will find good homes.👍

    That green '68 Tempest convertible was my first car back in high school. I bought it from the original owner, who lived across the street from my grandmother in West Hollywood, CA in 1991 or so. It was sold new at Utter Pontiac on La Brea Ave in Los Angeles. I put the Cragars and BFGs on it when I was in the Navy. The folks who bought it were from Illinois. They were looking at some of my dad's cars and they asked about the Tempest. My dad talked me into selling it and i've always regretted it. I almost fell over when I saw it in the video. It looks exactly as it did when I sold it.

      Didn’t get the email. Yahoo Mail can be weird sometimes. I’m 100% certain this is my old car. I didn’t know what I was doing with cars back then. I took it apart, got it painted, got the bumpers and badges rechromed, and never fully put it back together. I still have the original grandma wheel covers in my basement. The CA black plate was XRF305. Bought it with 79,000 miles and parked it with a few thousand over 100,000 miles on it. I have pics somewhere of the odometer rolling over. I still get registration reminders for the car every year from CA DMV.

    I am the guy in the video. I just want to make a few things clear that I should have stated in the video. First off, I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THESE CARS. The video is out of context and I can understand the confusion. My father has been running a Concours restoration shop all of my life. I’ve shared in this passion from a young age and helped amass this collection (and many many more) throughout my childhood. I used to search the darkest corners of the internet everyday after school trying to find rare muscle cars. When we’d find a deal, we’d hook up the trailer, and hit the road. Now, for all of the pleasant TH-cam commenters calling us hoarders and dreamers, I’ll make another fact clear. His shop has restored nearly 100 rare cars in the last 30 years. Many of which started out in much worse shape than the ones featured in the video. Most cars are sold privately to collectors, at Barrett Jackson or Mecum, and they’ve also done several cars for celebrity clients. These cars were all sitting in much worse environments before we acquired them and moved them into a climate controlled environment. These cars are patiently awaiting their turn to get restored, but are for sale at the same time as-is if someone is interested. The shop is currently restoring (2) 1970 442 Convertibles that we’re pulled from this very building!! I DO NOT PERSONALLY OWN ANY PART OF THIS COLLECTION. I WILL NOT SEE A PENNY OF ANY SALES. I WORK INDEPENDENTLY FROM MY FATHER AND HE HAS NEVER SO MUCH AS LOANED ME $1 TO BUY A CAR. In fact, I volunteered my time to put this video together to help him thin the herd, as he’s planning on taking his business in a different direction.

      @midnitesquirldog1 Yes I wish they still made them like that too. I had a 1970 cutlass W-31 the stripped down Oldsmobile. I am a GM A body fan. The GS & GSX were some of the fastest cars on the street, low HP ratting compared to the chevy big blocks but over 500lb/ft of torque made it a monster. The GSX just looked mean, the white more subdued but the yellow just screamed muscle.

    • @josephiacovelli5395
      @josephiacovelli5395 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @midnitesquirldog1 Thanks for the update on the HP rating. I was under the impression that Buick under rated their HP numbers and advertised 370 hp. maybe that was the non GSX 455. I am aware of the EPA and insurance company stuff and the change from brake HP to net HP. Long live American muscle.

    • @67buick
      @67buick 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      midnitesquirldog1 while I love old engines and cars, I have to disagree on the performance side. We live in the golden age of horsepower. The ls, lt, new Hemi and coyote are amazing engines. I daily drive a 67 skylark, and come from a family full of big block mopars, 540 chevelles, supercharged mustangs and so on. This new stuff is no joke. The fastest car in my family is a 2013 camaro cam/intake car. I still prefer classics, but today’s cars donkey stomp them when it comes to performance.

    • @67buick
      @67buick 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      midnitesquirldog1 so a modified car beat a stock car? That’s really not impressive. Of course gears matter. That’s why the Japanese were dogging us in the 80s and 90s. Most cars from the muscle car era came with lake gears. So most aren’t going to have that advantage. Give an ls aftermarket induction (even tho the stock intakes are good) an aftermarket cam and low gears and see what happens. Plus an ls will last 4x as long. And will get better mileage. And will be able to spin past 5k reliably. Why do you think old speedos only went to 100k? Old engines weren’t as well engines. The fact is today is the golden age of horsepower and speed. And if you deny that, then you haven’t driven enough old or new performance cara.

    In 1971 my mother ordered a T37 2 door hardtop, 250 (Chevy) 6 and powerglide. She wanted the Judge stripes, salesman said no problem, but she decided on the (parking lot) impact strip instead. There was also the "$47 front end". The GTO nose on any LeMans. And the bargain GTO meant to compete with the RoadRunner was the ET, 350HO, but obviously that was nixed, and Pontiac struggled with colors and sales due to white being chosen over Orbit Orange after sales started to decline from the 1st iteration Carousel Red, which was actually Chevy (engine) orange.
    Eventually all colors were offered, and the GTO became a wannabe as a 350 Ventura, but they all had the Trans Am shaker hood.

Are they perhaps looking to adopt a new 50ish year old child into the family,who just wants to restore some awesome cars? Lol! Man, hopefully you'll do some of their other goodies and post them on here. If these are just waiting in the wings to be restored, I can't even imagine what they have for daily drivers and fully restored nice weather only cruising collectibles in their driveways and home garages! Sweet, thanks guys! ▪☆☆☆▪

    • @billness2635
      @billness2635 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m planning to offer it for sale next year on its 50th anniversary and near my retirement date. I’m thinking it could draw a bit more money then. It’s current appraisal is right at $30k. What is hurting its value is that is was repainted with a coral colour from the Cadillac line in the late 70’s, along with the carb replaced with an Edelbrock and an HEI distributor installed. The original wheels were left out in the original owners yard for 40+ years and were unsalvagabe, so I installed 17” Rally II wheels with modern tires. When I bought it, it had CenterLines he had put on in the 70’s. Otherwise, it is all stock. It has the original Sandalwood interior, but the dash pad has some heat shrinkage on the upper corners. That all said, I’d take $35k for it now.

    Great collection of a bodies in this vid notice not one bowtie was mentioned in this video nor a grand Prix. Hell if you can't find a old matching engine for these cars that they came equipped from the factory, no need to worry or call it a waste, just do what most will do to make it functional again and wake it the hell up. Slap a LS small block from the trucks and build them the way you want build em because the LS is build for all GM brands anyway and the power those engines makes matches that on the old school big blocks and get better mpgs and they're bulletproof!
