    I used hockey tape most of my life after electrical tape but I tried stealth strip for the first time 4 years ago and is by far the thing ever made. It will not come off even if it has a wrinkle in it so it will outlast anything out there and it’s just worth a lot more than you have to pay. Get a roll and you will never change again. If you have to call you will talk directly to uncle Lou (not my uncle) it’s what they call him. He makes different sizes to match a lot of different sticks and stands and then also get a roll for everything else such as carabiners and such. Another thing he makes is for cam buckles. The less you have to cut and can get the custom stuff he already has the better you are because it is super sticky. I use my razor knife that you can throw away the blade when your don’t cutting. Not sponsored or anything like that and have zero connection to uncle Lou. Just and amazing and the best products

    add some cable aiders to your sticks from easter woods outdoors. You would need fewer sticks to get to hunting height

      I usually am only hunting at 8-10 feet and I have actually hunted as low as 3-4 feet. Like I stepped onto my platform from the ground. It just all depends on the situation really. Everyone hunts at the same hight for the most part and that height is exactly where deer always look as well. I do have a two step aider I made with Amstel. I do the one stick thing which this will be the third season and it works best for me since I never hunt at the same height. If you do the one stick thing I wouldn’t buy the 40’ or ropes like everyone does just unless you’re the person that hunts 30’ up. Take your normal hunting height and add ten feet and that’s all you would need

      I have tried the cable aiders and I do agree with you they would be nice to put on each stick then they are there if you want them and you can slide them in if not needed

      I didn't realize I have seen this video until I saw my comment 😂 I agree. I use two sticks with the cable aiders when I run sticks, but I mostly use the sladder now. I was thinking of one sticking with the shikar mini stick, but I wanted something I could easily fit into a pouch. I also use the bullman's outdoors platform steps for the same reason. I have all my climbing equipment on a molle belt so I dont need to mess with my pack until I'm up the tree@@jax9224

    I tried that saddle on a week ago. I agree it is super light and seems like it would be super comfortable. but those buckles are obnoxiously loud! If they would have been quiet I definitely would have ended up buying that saddle. Plus the price point on that sucker is kind of steep for what all you get

      One trick I found is if you add felt to it it will dampen some of the vibrations. It's not perfect but helps.

    The whole platform thing gets me!? You might as well get a hang on.. I use lonewolf sticks and run the ooal monarch platform bolt on kit so no separate platform . less stuff =less weight = less set up and teardown.

      The platforms that are out there now are way lighter. However there are some who hybrid and use a lock on. Best way I’ve see is to one stick

    Im one my second year saddle hunting. I have did some one sticking, 4 climbing sticks. The only way i can get high enough for me is one sticking. I can't figure out how its any lighter with carabiners, linesman, repel tope, saddle, and all the other stuff you take up a tree. Add cold weather clothes and i am so sweaty till i get up the tree. Maybe im to old snd out of shape. My climber stand is 3 times faster and about the same weight. I only need a tether and snd stand.

    That pack is massive? What pack do you run and are you packing out with it or are you just a gear guy? No worries if so. I used to be a gear guy and had a huge pack and ran a big pack for my first year in a saddle but then I went to a saddle so I could be light weight and minimal so I got rid or the pack and if it does not fit in my pant’s pocket or saddle pouch then I don’t take it but I’m also only going a few miles in on public and I’m not camping either. I’m so much happier since I made the switch. Most of the time as the season went on i would remove stuff out of my pack and would have nothing in it by the end of season so I just started out the season with a stick, platform, bow and camera and arm and that’s really all I take now and love it

      Don’t take that wrong. I’m not putting down or anything like that I’m just giving my experience and thoughts. You do you and whatever makes you happy. Just wanted to say that. I’m a firm believer in doing what you and how you want.

      I mainly need a big pack to house all my camera gear!

    As someone who has horrible knees but using something like this do you have any tips for comfort?

    • @whitetaildna
      @whitetaildna  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Knee pads may help, otherwise I’d experiment with the seatbelt method which allows you to stand with your back to the tree. And you can also be comfy not leaning against the tree! There’s many times I go most of a sit leaning back

    Do the hooks that you hang your sticks from come with the saddle? Or do you need to buy hook separately?

    • @whitetaildna
      @whitetaildna  ปีที่แล้ว

      Separate. Check out innovating the outdoors!

    Also another thing (sorry) if it was me wrap anything and everything metal in tape including all carabiners. ALL METAL NEEDS SILENCED

    I dont understand why people just dont buy arborist saddle and spikes, double flip line, i can climb up 80ft in 3 minutes if theres no branches….easier setup, safer…one lifeline is risky…

      Because spiking a tree can kill it maybe not a dinosaur of an oak or pine but a thin bark tree will die from cambium being exposed from spiking.
