I really got a lot out of this video. I was setting my Tek 2.0 up today and this put a lot of the finishing touches on what is not in the online manual. I can see a great use for this even without my dog along while hiking in country that does not have cell reception for maps, etc. I can't wait to try it on my pointer pup but she's a tad young yet and still a little jumpy about new things. I just purchased the Tec 2.0 tracking only collar from my club yesterday and set it up today. In the video you said “hope this helped”. Wow did it! Great direction. Now I’m going hunting tomorrow for the last day of upland bird hunting here in Washington State. Can’t wait to test it out. Thanks.

I definitely can 2nd what you said about their customer service. I had trouble with my collar stimulation only working up to about 50 yards after I had it for a year. Called customer service and they were awesome! Never even asked me for any reciept/proof of purchase, which I was very concerned about as my wife accidentally threw my reciept away. They attempted to troubleshoot with me for a few minutes then said they would send me a replacement collar but they were out of stock. I was disappointed but she assured me she would get a replacement out as soon as they came in. About 2 weeks later I had a package came with a new collar. That didn't solve the problem so I called back. They said they were out of replacement controllers but they should be in by the end of the week. She said if they weren't in by then she would let me know and try to figure something out to satisfy me. I was aggravated as pheasant season had just started. Fast forward a few days or so I got another package. I opened the box and inside was a bigger box than I expected for a replacement controller. I read the front and it said GPS tracking and Ecollar system. They had sent me a whole new unit! Controller, collar, the works! I called them to thank them. She said the replacements hadn't came in and they didn't want to ruin my season so they sent me a whole new unit. I asked about sending back the replacement collar they had sent me and what all I needed to send back. She said don't worry about it. Keep the collar we sent you and keep your old unit in case you may need parts or something after the warranty ran out. So I started out with a single controller/ collar unit. Now I have a brand new unit with a new GPS controller and 2 brand new collars Plus was able to keep my old unit which still worked fine for tracking the only part not working was the correction portion ! I was blown away. That is around a $1100 package they sent me and didn't even want my old stuff or the new collar they had first sent me back. I will be a customer for life with service like that.

countryDic % when i hunted LBL i hunted on the Kentucky side. The Tek performed fairly well but if a dog ran into a deep ravine it would drop it for a second till the dog came up out of it a little. All GPS units weather its SportDOG or Garmin still use telemetry to send dogs location to your handheld, so all these units have the troubles with terrain as any other telemetry system would. I did at one point get 1 mile on my unit in LBL. Hills, hollars and thick cover may will affect all GPS units to some degree but i do prefer the Tek over Garmin and ive owned all models of Garmin including the Alpha. Big advantage of SportDOG over garmin is free map upgrades for life and double the warranty for same price.

Lucas Donoho that is part true, you cant pan ahead on the tracking screen but you can click right over to the map screen and pan ahead. It only takes a fraction of a second. From what ive been told, this is something the company is working on changing and improving. Great question though. I hope that answers that for you! Also from what ive been told, once they fix/change that, even if you have a system already, youll just have to plug it up to a computer and upgrade it for free to recieve the panning upgrade. So ive been told.
Lucas Donoho another thing, if your on the tracking screen and want to see ahead of the dog, simple zoom out and it will show more on the map ahead of the dog.

Would be nice if my remote didn't take 45 mins to get to the menu, only to bring up a blank black screen with no menus. Then you get to restart the process all over again while everyone else is hunting. All I get to see is a lovely Color Sport Dog Logo which leads to a blank backlit screen. So far wishing I had an Alpha, at least it my buddies works.
fstar roughly around 24 hrs. Its bout the same as any other GPS collar. If your set the update rate at a greater time between updates it will prolong the battery.
we live out west hunt chukar, hun, pheasant - chukar the toughest - usually in steep terrain - often 30º-60º - often on unstable rocky slopes - this season still using my 3-year-old tk1.0, dog was off the screen more than on it - furstating in that he'd show up at the top of a butte - I could see him but he wouldn't come up on the screen for a long time - sometimes over a minute - may need repair or maybe time to upgrade Q: is the most recent tk2 better and quicker tracking in around canyons and buttes ?
Yes the Tek 2.0 comes with a track dog feature where you select a dog you want and no matter where it goes the dog stays centered of the screen. The Tek 2.0 is a major upgrade over the 1.0
Great tutorial! I work in the bush and I’m going to pick one of these up to track my dog who loves to explore. The website says its got a 16 mile range or something like that. I don’t understand. Its a gps...shouldn’t it have an infinite range?

I wanted satellite maps, Sportdog to date doesn't have them. Dogtra does, and the ease of using it on my phone made it a no-brainer. I've not tried the Dogtra 2.0, but I hear good things.

You can do it both ways, its all how ever you personalize and set it up your self.

No its GPS of your locatiom on the map but from the collar to you is thru telemitry. The manufacturers dont specify that correctly
