Something I've been thinking about recently is that while there's been a massive revival for the Atmospheric side of 90s Jungle & DnB, there hasn't been nearly as much attention to the darker & grittier styles of that same era. So it would be kinda cool to see more attention given to stuff like Techstep, Neurofunk, Drumfunk & Darkstep, specifically as they were in the late 90s & early 2000s. That aside, this song is the result of an idea I had to make a fake video game OST album (with the fake video game being titled "Metropolis," hence the title of this track), inspired by 90s shooters like Doom, Blood, Duke Nukem 3D, Descent 1 & 2, System Shock, and modern games made in those old game engines like Ion Fury and Selaco. It's going to be quite a while before it's finished, and I'm probably gonna treat the whole "OST" aspect as more of a framing device for the album rather than strictly trying to create something that'd work as an OST tbh. Regardless, I want the final album to feature a mix of dark & gritty stuff like this track, as well as the more vaporwave-y atmospheric stuff that I created the "GeoCity Junglist" alias for in the first place. I also want it to cover genres ranging from ambient & downtempo breakbeat all the way up to actual Breakcore, though most of the music will wind up being Jungle or DnB. Hope y'all enjoy o7
I think the liquid amtospheric stuff is the most mainstream-compatible style. I was as tennager 100% in Jump up. Jsut want to say that the Neurofunk/Techstep is my last big thing in the D'n'B Genre and i am glad that you do something for it.
