In this Wrestling Basics Video, Kyle Dake teaches all about Wrestling Stance and First Contact.
Kyle Dake is one of the best wrestlers in American history!
In his 4 years at Cornell, Kyle won 4 NCAA Championships at 4 different weight classes, the only athlete to ever accomplish this!
He followed that up in 2018 with a dominant run at the World Championships where he won gold without surrendering a single point the entire tournament (the first man in decades!).
This is a clip off of his new instructional series available exclusively at www.FanaticWre...
Wrestling Fanatics teaches Wrestling Basics and Techniques that will help you become a better wrestler.
Fanatic Wrestling was started by a pair of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts, Michael Zenga and Bernardo Faria who have a passion for all things grappling.
They feel that nothing is more important than improving your Wrestling skills as much as possible in the least amount of time. Their aim was to create a shop for Wrestling Students who don’t look at Wrestling as a sport - but as a lifestyle.

This was awesome. This is the kind of strategic thinking that is missing from a lot of wrestling programs. Usually you learn a bunch moves and drill them endlessly but never really learn how to apply them. This is the difference between strategy and tactics

Absolutely agree. Channels like this are allowing young wrestlers to see how this all connects and /or how it should connect in a wrestling match. In America, especially in high school wrestling, if the coach is not of high caliber, expect practices to be conditioned base without really a way of teaching their wrestlers how to develop their own style.

    • @redpepper313
      @redpepper313 หลายเดือนก่อน

A lot of the focus in youth wrestling is on encouraging wrestlers to do everything with 100% intensity. It isn’t often that wrestlers are told to slow down and think about the strategy.
Also, being playful and experimenting with strategy is generally discouraged because it won’t make you “tough enough”. This became clear to me after I started training Muay Thai.

Want to see how his encounters with different types of wrestlers in his career effected his theory on stance and motion over time? Specifically after wrestling Jb and Cox. His stance evolved dramatically in 2016, stopped leading on head, kept arms very tucked. Watch his 2016 bouts with Dieringer. Dieringer had no idea where to tie up with him. Years later, a lot about his movements changed after practicing with Cox for Worlds. You can see it in all of his 2019 Worlds matches and, again, how he wrestled Dieringer from outside the tie. Dieringer clearly wasn’t expecting that. Dake is so good because he’s constantly evolving

That over extension he mentions is very much what happens in boxing.
The fighter uncoils into his punch and if he misses for some reason, he will lose his balance falling forward.
Even world Champs have fallen down swinging at someone and missing.
What a boxer may do that has someone lunging with all their weight towards him is post up on the back leg and crash into him with a shoulder check.
Once his weight stops its momentum, you rip an uppercut from the posted back leg side,
into his gut or jaw and laters, that's all she wrote.
After the (back leg side) uppercut,
it can be followed up with a
    (front leg side) hook.
    Again and again.
Transferring weight from one leg to the other and landing the blow in the middle of the weight transfers.
Also the wrestling stance is good for uppercuts.
Where you could reach for a single or ankle but also you could launch a missile into his jaw with all the power you normally shoot with. He hast to defens his ankle and his jaw getting shattered.
Also you can scramble from it and get behind them where you can punch the sh*t out of them from your low crouching stance.
Learn to block and move your head. Learn a jab. Just like smacking the forehead and getting a duck under your jab is a probe and if it lands it will pop hi face straight at the sky and you can scoop him up.
But mostly fight out of your wrestling stance. Use that to keep them honest. They will be watching for your jab and after you fake it and they defend you get a high crotch and slam his ass.
