You hit the nail on the head with this man, I really don't know how else to say it! I've been a huge fan of the books for as long as I can remember, and read them and re-read them so many times I could literally recite entire chapters by heart. Watching this series actually did give me hope that there is a live action version of Percy Jackson out there that truly will do the books justice, but in it's current form, there need to be improvements. I heartily agree that the action really needs some work to make it actually entertaining and also believable(not realistic, those are technically two different things) and some of the actors, especially the kids need to really give it everything they've got the way Virginia Cole or Toby Stevens did. But criticisms aside, overall I'm really thankful this series happened. I hope to god that season 2 takes the constructive crititcism and puts it to good use!
Pacing was an issue for me. I think making the season longer would be amazing. Why do people think 6 episode series is enough? What happens to 20+ episode 8 season tv shows?
I think the world needs to see the beauty of the end. Stop the reboots and continuations. Let stories be. Of course we all want to return to these worlds, of course we miss it. It’s because we love them. As for the video, I personally loved the movies and the books. I go back and forth between the tv show. No, it’s not racism. Grover was made black in the movies and Annabeth is black in the show. I don’t care about that. That’s not the problem. I just don’t know what it is yet. I do enjoy some parts though. I feel like we all have our Percy deep down. The OG’s have book Percy, I have movie Percy, and the alpha’s have Disney Percy. It’s just the ones certain people grew up with. It’s not our fault and we’re not shaming other Percy’s.
I was disappointed. I would have gladly praised this as the next Harry Potter if they: * took the extra mile of resembling their book descriptions. * less telling, more showing. * more humor. * occasional voiceover narration from Percy. * the poodle * more chemistry * the kids having fun * better lighting * better vfx
