      @@Skyisnotalimit what are you talking about

    • @Skyisnotalimit
      @Skyisnotalimit 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christopher C What I'm talking about, The Haas ST30 ssy for example. Lube system for axis not working, faultcodes like "TT axis com fault"
      "Z axis com fault"
      "Y axis com fault"
      Always when the tools are in gage.
      Once the whole memory got lost, with all parameters.
      It was pure luck we had made a save to a USB card.
      The inside of the cooling pipework came off and blocked coolingwater to the revolver and tools made an expensive drill to get F**ed.
      Chips gets inside the revolver from a failing gasket of the cover to the tooldriver motor.
      The decoder string of the tailstock snapped off in the middle of work, making me having to repair that too, when assembling and testing the lathe, it snapped off again.
      Terror in it's own words.
      It's a 2014 model.

      Christopher C Company's machine.
      We are about to get a new Doosan, since we have three in different sizes already and the tools and orders can rotate between the machines since all got Capto turrets. A plus is that the Doosan uses the steady and rigid block glideways instead of the roller ones used in some others, like Haas.
      Are you an operator?

    This slightly depresses me in the fact that I’ve just completed a 4 year apprenticeship in tool making and they are already replacing operators with robots.

    • @DougHanchard
      @DougHanchard 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Really? Sorry to say this, but robotic technology has been expanding and replacing shop floor jobs since 1939. Early robots were not electronically controlled by solid state circuits, but vacuum tubes. The evolution continued with scale and size of diodes, resistors, and transistors. The main difference compared to today is the micro-controller power combined with powerful software.
      Tool making is an excellent foundation for you because the machines still need to be programmed and require jigs for parts to be made. That requires a machining background and what specialized tools will be required and critically, how each tool can be effectively used for small or large production runs.
      It is true that a computer will be able to make automatic machining strategy decisions, but that is at least a decade or more away from mass production for use in job shops.
      Yes, the path is clear, robots will be maintaining themselves using more robots, pallet systems, parts flow, logistics, and more and more assembly steps. When combined with automated 3D Model scanning, Robotic laser 3D welding, machining, finishing, many sub-assemblies and some finished products will be operated by CNC robotic technology and eliminate the human shop floor requirement in mass production environments. It's also good to remember, do you really want a job that only requires you to move parts from one machine to the next and the next and operate forklifts, cranes and some wrenches and sockets to mount and dismount parts or install or remove tools? That's what most of these robots are designed to do. The art of delicate assembly and large complex construction is still done by humans as shown.
      If you just completed your apprenticeship, your career will have a very long life and have be able to expand into this software / computer controlled space. Check out some of the other job shop operators that are on TH-cam like Adam Booth (Manual machines all the way for him) in Florida and Peter over at Edge Precision of Houston that runs a really nice Mazak CNC machine.
      I wouldn't start a tool a legacy / current apprenticeship 10 or 15 years from now, but your generation of graduates will be fine and be able to adapt the knowledge you have now learned and combine it with the high tech of today and tomorrow.

      There is a lot of work setting up those machines, making tooling for them, loading and maintaining the cutters, and maintaining the machines themselves. Plus - a factory like that can't assemble itself (yet).

    Att TO MAZAK:
    Muy interezante video , defecto del operario de ensamblado del Husillo ( Spindle) Nunca se debe poner la base magnetica en la camisa del husillo dico o flange, para indicar si el husillo gira centrado.
    Por que la base magnetica , imanta la pieza o flange , de por vida ,queda imantada ,y atrae las pequen`as moleculas del material y arruina la maquina , lo peor cuando se imanta el cono iso 50 la biruta queda entre medio del cono y pared del husillo.
    Esta` es una mala aptitud en North America ,ninguno quida la maquina adecuadamente , la otra mala uptitud es el usar el aire comprimido ,si se limpia ra`pido pero todas las particulas del material se acumula abajo de la bancada o linear bearing.
    Un Saludo desde TORONTO -CANADA.
