  • Thomas Ronhaar has been accused of CHEATING in recent weeks by many people, the behaviour of some esport driver like Jarno Opmeer, Bari Borumand, Simon Weigang suggest there's something.
    Romain Grosjean ex F1 driver and INDYCAR driver trust Thomas Ronhaar innocence.

      Yeah I was on the fence until I saw that france fight. The game simply doesn't have enough grip on the outside of the rubbered in line to keep up with a car on the line. And the fact that Warren was running him off line, off track, and pushing him and he didn't lose any time is beyond questionable.
      Anyone who plays F1 knows how much time someone running you that wide off the line should cost you in a equal car lobby.

    7:39 for this statement of Grosjean, I could take another similar situation as example. The 2023 Daytona 24 in iRacing. Jenson Button, a Williams Esports Ambassador, came to the defence of the LMDh team by saying the limits are to be abused. Eventhough cutting under the apron was stated as illegal before the race. The LMDh team abused it in quali and with that they gained 2 additional tenths, which might sound really small, but when P2 was separated from P11 by 4 tenths, it’s a lot. Grosjean, a big big name in motorsport, coming to help Ronhaar, whilst Ronhaar being in his esports roster, looks similar. Really similar.

    • @comradical
      @comradical ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@claxxz1 That's not exactly how real life racing works. Jenson came at that point from the perspective of track limits call, and indeed, if you just exceed track limits on a track during a lap, or cut a corner, your lap time will be removed. However, real life racing is very nuanced and there is a difference between going a little wide while carrying too much corner speed and knowingly ignoring where the track is and making your own line, in real life, if a driver ran the curtain at the speed that Spetz ran the curtain, knowing full well that this is not within track limits, there will have been a serious discussion between the clerk of the course and a number of other officials as to exactly what the punishment will have been, because, you see, on a real track that would have been considered a HUGE safety violation and tracks don't play games with safety, just look at that Nascar pit crew member that lost control of a wheel and ran across the pit road onto the green to get it.
      I have seen drivers getting chewed out bad for much less severe behavior, I have seen cars held for 15 minutes into the next practice session for just continuously running track limits in a place where it's relatively safeish to do so. The level of disregard for safety that Spetz showed is not tolerated at real tracks, so my guess is that if this happened at Daytona, and I have worked with many people who work at Daytona, Spetz will have been luckly to be allowed back on premises the next day IRL. I have worked almost all of the worlds top series over the years, F1, MotoGP, Indy, WEC, IMSA, WRX, etc, etc, the level of safety concern at these events is very high, I have seen Charlie Whiting force the track to replace the gravel in one of the gravel traps overnight, because it was slightly the wrong grade of gravel (left over after previous event), I have seen marshals escorted off the track for doing what they thought was right, but should have known better, photographers losing licenses and no longer allowed at any FIA events for being in the wrong place, when that level of detail is paid attention to through and through, the punishment for disregarding safety rules is also extremely steep.
      So, basically, Jenson was wrong, and he knows he was wrong, he was asked to come in and smooth out the situation for his team, and look, it took a ton of heat off his org because of his status.

      @@BrunodeSouzaLino if it's racing with your friends or against the bots, nobody should care what you do, it's between your conscience and the bots or friends or whatever. When there is money, and not insignificant money on the table, either direct or sponsorship, from the perspective of cheating there should be no difference between real and virtual racing. There should be 0 (zero) tolerance for cheating in any sport, and esport is a sport first and foremost. The one place where there is a difference is that grey area in tech regulations, which is almost eliminated in esports, and in that way it is almost a more fair sport, because everyone has the same machine to start with which is something you can't guarantee even in spec racing IRL, if you took 2 F2 cars, for example, that are the closest to each other on all parameters on the grid today, those cars would still be miles more different compared to the exactness of all of the cars on an esports F1 grid being the same in game; it is therefore about the setup, the strategy, and the driving from the racing perspective. And cheating is cheating, real motorsport, fake motorsport, any sport, any online game even, it ruins the fairness of the competition, and it ruins the enjoyment that other people get out of the game.

    Jarno's reaction in Spain clearly shows that something is amiss and that it's an open secret with the drivers and their engineers. From the engineers reaction it sounds as though teams might be collecting data on their potential accusation before going public with it. Let's be honest, it's not too dissimilar to what happens in real F1. Teams suspect another teams in the paddock may be bending the rules, whether it's liberal interpretations of regulations, or overspending, but they're careful to be too public with accusations until it can be tested and proved.
    I HOPE that this is what's going on in this case, and it's not the publisher and promotor keeping it quiet to avoid damaging the brand and the integrity of their competition. Although unfortunately this scenario is just as likely.
    But at the end of the day it falls on the publisher; in my opinion F122 is an truly awful and lazy game. A £20.00 expansion marketed as a new triple AAA release. But putting all that to one side, the lack of any real sort of anti-cheat in a game that is used in competitive esports is outright negligence on the part of the publisher.

    it's possible that theyre being told to be quiet because codemasters/f1 doesnt want the negative publicity by making a cheating scandal public.. also they might've told other drivers to use the griphack to compare those who use it to those who dont, because codemasters might not have an anti-cheat system in place. Governing body needs to step up here. They need to give everyone a random PC check somewhat regularly. It's unfair to be dragged through the mud until their is evidence, but it's only natural that it happens sadly. So their needs to be an offensive strategy in going after cheaters in esports, instead of only relying on a defensive strategy that most esports use, basically waiting for cheaters to screw up and blatantly get caught. It would also deter cheaters in the future.
    Being quiet doesn't mean guilt in my opinion. There is nothing to say that will change people's opinion. There are a few videos around analysing how his performance doesn't make sense (he runs lower downforce setups than some and yet he's able to carry more speed into corners and able to reach full throttle much earlier), so I'm inclined to say it's the former rather than the latter...

I've never really watched esports (I've seen Gran Turismo, but the way it is run, at a single location for all players, would make it almost impossible to cheat), so I don't know if it is much easier to cheat in then in real life. In the meantime, I don't like seeing people driving dangerously against him. • @TomSwiftful
      @TomSwiftful ปีที่แล้ว

      Not quite. You can put a hack between the input and the computer, especially when you have feedback from the game. You could implement ABS/traction control pretty easily, for example, and hide it all in the wheel base. TBH, this probably happens in real F1.
      And without far more transparency than currently exists, there will always be the "insider threat," where a dev could facilitate cheating for a cut of the prize purse.
      Just publish the hardware that will be used in the race, allow people to practice on that, and nobody brings their own equipment. The insider threat is still a possibility, but that can be mitigated through publishing telemetry to be verified in replays after the race. If the results are not reproducible from the logged input data, then something is amiss. If brakes or throttle were pulsing at inhuman speeds, then something is amiss.
      Yes, it takes work to implement these things, but not a ungodly amount. It's a pretty low level of effort overall to quell the rampant speculation/accusations.

      they used to do it on LAN but ever since COVID they haven't done so. Hopefully this year's F1 esports is on LAN.

    In terms of his reaction and silence I wouldn’t read into that. If he was passionately defending himself everyone would say that’s suspicious too. People react differently to these kinds of things. That being said, I do think he’s cheating
