Great reaction. I'm also always impressed by the pitch leaps Asami manages here and in many songs. And how she often prepares and supports them by raising her arm (sometimes quickly) presumably to allow her ribs and lungs more space. At the speed this band goes, leaping octaves from note to note must require some serious support and stability.
I am learning that when watching your videos i may as well just stop and focus. Always short on time i would try and multi task as i watched. This caused me to have to rewind too much or rewatch several times to connect with you as you connect to the video at hand. Like you Anna i enjoy this enough to not want to miss a thing. Thank you for the intelligent and informative assessment. You make this enjoyable. Always a treat to see your videos.
I also started my Lovebites experience with Holy War. For slower songs of Lovebites I recommend the following: Edge Of The World (That’s one of my two favorite Lovebites songs) Epilogue Empty Daydream A Frozen Serenade Swan Song (with Chopin piano solo) For the faster songs I recommend the following: Thunder Vengeance Break The Wall Set The World On Fire The Awakening / The Hammer Of Wrath
I really would not consider Swan Song to be one of the "slower" songs (apart from the Chopin intro), as it is very high tempo. It is just so graceful and melodic that it is easy to overlook the sheer speed going on!
All of Lovebites albums and DVD's are mixed and engineered in Finland!! And as you can see from this video it sounds amazing Live!! Asami used to sing R&B and Soul type music before, this is the first time she sings in a Metal band!! 🤘🙂🎸 Check out their song - Edge of the World - th-cam.com/video/UZjxMjBop7w/w-d-xo.html Thank you!

@[薔薇尻弾]OYS For me, all LOVEBITES recordings up to now are "Miho's LOVEBITES" as founder, leader, bassist, arranger, composer & lyricist (one-third of all songs). I will support Miho, Haruna, Midori, Miyako & Asami in all their future endeavors, individually & collectively. I am very grateful for what they have brought into my life. I will welcome their choices.
yeah....finally, excellent break down(as always), these ladies rock, there are no bad songs, lyrics are great, , they all are multitalented, they are LOVEBITES, and they play heavy metal....and do it well, I think you enjoyed this little foray into the band, Swan song with chopin interlude next or maybe a power ballad (brings back 80's vibe) Epilogue, I believe you will enjoy any of them, I know I do, love these ladies....👍👍🤘🤘
@@annavaskelainen yes they are, love these ladies, hope to see them get a new bass player and get back to work, thx for doing them, hope you do another of theirs. I have the blue ray DVD of their last concert, love watching it
This whole band has some great stamina I think! It's a HARD song! Especially with that tempo. It's very easy to drop the tempo towards the end of the song just because one gets tired. xx
@@annavaskelainen Yes yes! Indeed. The twin guitars were also amazing both solo and together. Any mistake would stand out. The drummer had to maintain that tempo for everyone! The bass adding in some sweet licks at select points.
I start by apologizing because I was not in your live, I could not buy the ticket and I tried several times, with how much I like to hear you and how much I would have liked, you are incredible and I will always be by your side
Great video, as usual! Also a great song, but not the best choice to showcase Asami. She is much more impressive in many other songs. "Epilogue" or "Edge of the World" come to mind.
Wow, another nice band I didn't know yet. 🥰 Nice energy this song, I do wonder if they have some songs that ebb and flow the pace a bit. Or maybe that is a thing for symphony metal? (I don't know many other metal genres)
They have everything from Classical piano mixed with metal to Ballads and at times sound like Iron Maiden at others sound like Slayer at times sound like Miyakos influence Gary Moore
Welcome to the world of wolfpack. Lovebites is the best one metal band right now on the earth. All the musicians on this band is insane and world class talent. Not a gimmick or fake. They effortless. Like the Goddesses. Great reaction by the way. Thank you. Next song from them, try they song "Set the world on fire" or "Break the wall" Once again thank for your great reaction to Lovebites.

Great review, Anna. They are excellent musicians with a real solid drummer, and Asami is a great vocalist. Loved your breakdown. And its nice to be that young and that talented with that much energy. Have a question for you. Have you ever reacted to the Swiss folk/metal band Eluveitie? I have a song I would love you to react to instead of the one I requested. In April I will be 72, and if you could fit it in, it would be great. The song is called "Epona" and the version I like is from their live at Masters of Rock 2019 show. Its a short song and features their female lead Fabienne Erni. And it is entirely sung in the reconstructed language of Gaul!!! Till next time, Kiitos from your friend Mike in Chicago. :) \
This is the start. Once you go to Lovebites - Holy War, there is no way back. Without a doubt, one of my top three bands with Nightwish and System of a Down. Great reaction, although I don't understand a word of Finnish ;-)
@@annavaskelainen yes I did. Unfortunately Finnish is a language on its own, so there is no connection to Dutch, German, French, English or even Ukrainian.
I know your main focus is vocals, but you have discovered the most complete metal band to come along in decades. I hope you will do more reactions to them. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. This is one of their usual first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Here are more clips you should check out: Their most recently posted live clips, “Set the World on Fire” th-cam.com/video/99zsH6iG_6c/w-d-xo.html and “Don’t Bite the Dust” th-cam.com/video/oHnKGEj1CMc/w-d-xo.html, which are both from their recently released concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”. "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: th-cam.com/video/sl0-U-ykJCU/w-d-xo.html They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope. Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: th-cam.com/video/lXh_uMM94jU/w-d-xo.html. Miyako is also a professional-level classical concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude”. Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: th-cam.com/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/w-d-xo.html. For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” th-cam.com/video/1ynnXDfEnnY/w-d-xo.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both) Finally, while you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are three of the most spectacular: "When Destinies Align" th-cam.com/video/hLFelI93VkM/w-d-xo.html "Glory to the World" th-cam.com/video/-wJtD2XEXH4/w-d-xo.html "Winds of Transylvania" th-cam.com/video/HsE4Ub_Pjh8/w-d-xo.html. You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!
Absolutely yes. Metalheads nowadays think metal has to be of screaming and growling, and that makes all the metal sound the same and stereotyped and boring.
If you wish to delve more into Lovebites I recommend Frozen Serenade, Epilogue, Swan Song + Chopin intro, Empty Daydreams and their cover of Helloween - Eagle Fly Free as you can really see her vocal powers. Great reaction. Nice to listen to Finish too :)
That was a great reaction to Asami and Lovebites. I really enjoyed that and your analysis. Lovebites won the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. They are phenomenal. Another great reaction / analysis, Anna! Kiitos! I don't know much of Lovebites, but to my ears this sounds like s great example of power metal. For other bands that have a similar kind of energy in their songs, check out Manowar, Helloween, Dragonforce, Unleash the Archers, Blind Guardian and Powerwolf. Wait a second. Have you already videoed a reaction to Unleash the Archers? My memory is trying to tell me that you have, but I may be wrong about this.
Having been a metal-fan since 1984, I have got to say that for me, the density of quality on the albums Lovebites have released thus far (and even more on their official live-DVDs) is unparalleled! I have yet to hear a song by them I don't like. However, instead of recommending another song by Lovebites - you can't go wrong with any of them -, I would like to recommend you something completely different, namely a live performance of the song "Mani Yanni" by The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices (formerly known as Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares) featuring Lisa Gerrard: th-cam.com/video/6HNBAGEDSXo/w-d-xo.html (To avoid any possible confusion in case you aren't familiar with either of them, the first soloist you hear in this clip is a member of The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices, whereas Lisa Gerrard is first to be heard around the 2-minute-mark.)

Oh, how could I have forgotten Gacharic Spin?!?!?! I Wish I or Mindset are 2 amazing songs. Lead vocals move between 3 members and sometimes in the same song. Think you would love them. Vocals are mostly Japanese

Kiitos, nautin "reaktiosta" LOVEBITESiin. "A Frozen Serenade": th-cam.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/w-d-xo.html
I adore LOVEBITES. Thank you for watching them and breaking down this song. Asami is a unique vocalist, but her charisma as a performer is what really endeared her to me. I'm sure other people are going to recommend "edge of the World" and "Epilogue," and they're great. I second those songs. Also, when you have time, I'd enjoy your take on the one American rock/metal band I've found in the last year and a half of my journey to find new, good music. 'Play' is good: th-cam.com/video/3LxX_t4vg7U/w-d-xo.html That's live with audience (the online performances of covid-times aren't quite the same). LOVEBITES - Holy War lyrics:
Look at those black clouds, it’s going to rain blood
People live in fear, covered in mud
Singing oh Gloria to change the prophecy
We are the metal warriors
Fighting the darkness for sisters
There is a thousand, a thousand of evils
Hush, do not wake up Satan’s devils
Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty
We are the metal warriors
Fighting the darkness for brothers
Shining blade and burning heart
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Immortal soul, let there be light
Into the Eye of Heaven
Eagles at a holy war
Fly higher than the sun
We are one for all and all for one forevermore
Kingdom of Heaven, never shall we fall
Reincarnation, wait for your call
Singing oh, Gloria to change the prophecy
We are the metal warriors
Fighting the darkness for sisters
Morning star and dying moon
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Mighty soul, let there be hope
Into the Eye of Heaven
Eagles at a holy war
Fly higher than the sun
Stand up in the name of the God of heavy metal
What do we live for? What do we fight for, tonight?
But the world is beautiful, worth fighting for
Only have one thing on our mind
Facing the fate, holy war
Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty
We are the metal warriors
Fighting the darkness for brothers
Shining blade and burning heart
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Immortal soul, let there be light
Into the Eye of Heaven
Eagles at a holy war
Fly higher than the sun
We are one for all and all for one forevermore
What do we live for? What do we fight for, tonight?
But the world is beautiful, worth fighting for

I will support Miho, Haruna, Midori, Miyako & Asami in all their future endeavors, individually & collectively. I am very grateful for what they have brought into my life. I will welcome their choices.
Thank you for reacting to Lovebites They are always enjoyable and I doubt they have a bad song I haven't heard one yet
Asami comes from R&B and soul background, she is a mezzo-soprano.
R&B?! Is there any recordings from that time?

😊 thx!
Hope you enjoyed your wee break. I'm just happy you are back, with your vinyl disk earrings, no less! :-D
I did, but I missed my community as well! Glad to be back with my earrings lol! :D
I have missed you. Wellcome back ,at is a great pleasure to see you again. Love the comments and your reactions🤩
I like your review, btw their sound engineers are Finnish who also worked on Nightwish and Strartovarius.
So I've learned from the comments, that's cool! xx
yeah....finally, excellent break down(as always), these ladies rock, there are no bad songs, lyrics are great, , they all are multitalented, they are LOVEBITES, and they play heavy metal....and do it well, I think you enjoyed this little foray into the band, Swan song with chopin interlude next or maybe a power ballad (brings back 80's vibe) Epilogue, I believe you will enjoy any of them, I know I do, love these ladies....👍👍🤘🤘
These girls are incredible: their stamina, appearance, musicianship... Top.
Thank you for your suggestions!
@@annavaskelainen yes they are, love these ladies, hope to see them get a new bass player and get back to work, thx for doing them, hope you do another of theirs. I have the blue ray DVD of their last concert, love watching it
Great comments as always. Asami was a revelation for me as well. She has a great belt and stamina!

Great reaction. Lovebites songs all have a powerfull lyrics and almost all done by Asami.(if not mistaken)
Great video, as usual! Also a great song, but not the best choice to showcase Asami. She is much more impressive in many other songs. "Epilogue" or "Edge of the World" come to mind.

Wow, another nice band I didn't know yet. 🥰
Nice energy this song, I do wonder if they have some songs that ebb and flow the pace a bit. Or maybe that is a thing for symphony metal? (I don't know many other metal genres)
They have everything from Classical piano mixed with metal to Ballads and at times sound like Iron Maiden at others sound like Slayer at times sound like Miyakos influence Gary Moore
Yes they have metal ballads..
They play almost all kinds of subgenres and even their own unique metal, and some other genre like rock and R&B.
Very interesting!
I am looking forward to hearing a ballad from them as well! That would showcase a totally different side of these ladies. 😊
Welcome to the world of wolfpack.
Lovebites is the best one metal band right now on the earth.
All the musicians on this band is insane and world class talent.
Not a gimmick or fake. They effortless. Like the Goddesses.

This is the start. Once you go to Lovebites - Holy War, there is no way back. Without a doubt, one of my top three bands with Nightwish and System of a Down. Great reaction, although I don't understand a word of Finnish ;-)
:D I hope you hand the subtitles on at least! xx
Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981).
As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Here are more clips you should check out:
Their most recently posted live clips, “Set the World on Fire” th-cam.com/video/99zsH6iG_6c/w-d-xo.html and “Don’t Bite the Dust” th-cam.com/video/oHnKGEj1CMc/w-d-xo.html, which are both from their recently released concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”.
For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” th-cam.com/video/1ynnXDfEnnY/w-d-xo.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both)
Finally, while you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are three of the most spectacular:
"When Destinies Align" th-cam.com/video/hLFelI93VkM/w-d-xo.html
"Glory to the World" th-cam.com/video/-wJtD2XEXH4/w-d-xo.html
"Winds of Transylvania" th-cam.com/video/HsE4Ub_Pjh8/w-d-xo.html.
You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!
Esta es la voz genérica de las mayoría de las bandas de rock o metal con vocalista mujer en japón.
METALHEAD: Metal is music played by older white guys dressed in black with beer bellies and tattos.
LOVEBITES: Hold our lipsticks.
Lovebites is a next level band and it's so nice to have a real singer rather than a screamer or growler.
Absolutely yes. Metalheads nowadays think metal has to be of screaming and growling, and that makes all the metal sound the same and stereotyped and boring.
@@gatograto totally agreed with you 🤘✌
If you wish to delve more into Lovebites I recommend Frozen Serenade, Epilogue, Swan Song + Chopin intro, Empty Daydreams and their cover of Helloween - Eagle Fly Free as you can really see her vocal powers. Great reaction. Nice to listen to Finish too :)

NICE !!

That's live with audience (the online performances of covid-times aren't quite the same). This song (both the composition and the lyrics) is written by the band members, whereas some of their old stuff is not. And this one just happens to be a good performance I think.
