I am over pensionable age and continue to work out of choice and pay my taxes. I find it very frustrating and quite wrong that well paid politicians can claim heating allowances on thier second homes and get numerous perks in the House of Commons from the taxes I pay when they are depriving pensioners of their heating payments. In my view, government should be paying the heating bills of low income pensioners and give tax relief for those who can afford to pay for heating themselves. Billions of GDP are being spent on ideological projects that are of little or no advantage - and even to the detriment - of the vast majority of people of this country.

I worked in a SEN school. At the end of terms, Christmas & Easter or if students were leaving families would buy 'Thank You' presents.
Now a tin of Roses chocolate to share across a team was fine but any gift worth £5 or over had to be declared and recorded.
The reason: it might be a bribe, expectation of favourable attention & care.
MPs must be held accountable for every donation, it must be transparent.
How do you remove a PM & Government that are self serving and deaf?

    • @vanessagray8604

Any money or ‘gift’ given to a politician is a bribe. Every company I worked for would NOT allow anyone in the company accept ‘gifts’ as this was seen as a bribe. I remember a person giving our department a box of chocolates, we were ‘told off’ and told to return them. Why shouldn’t politicians be held to the same stringent standards? I had a meeting with an MP. Present in the meeting was someone learning how to be an MP, I was asked if they would sit in at our meeting, I agreed. During this meeting and the discussion we had, the MP did something which I will never forget... Upon asking me to make a decision he turned to his trainee and said, as if I was not there... "Give them what they think they want, and they'll choose it themselves". I felt this was particularly rude and a lesson in politics. They are trained to manipulate the public, they are acutely aware of our legal system and how they are not held accountable and as such as with any individual or organisation they will abuse any system which does not hold them accountable for lying to the public before, during and after elections.
Ironically we should look at elections as a form of comedy, for that is all the value they hold legally. Our broken system of politics allows for a potential leader of a country to legally lie to the entire population just to ensure they win that election. Then as we know, following the election they can then implement any measures they choose which as we also know are often in total contradiction of election promises/mandates or whatever other word you would like to use to describe legalised bullshit.
I am not quite sure how our electoral system evolved so that its prime purpose is to lie to the public but I think it needs to change.

I believe I covered "utilities" in mentioning cost of heating..... only one--sixth of average state pension for average-sized home dweller. Or, do you live in a mansion and therefore cannot make ends meet?
As for clothes, why do you not do what I do without whining and moaning and playing at being a victim and shop in charity shops. More than the 2,000 that nature intended, thereby adding wantonly to the burdens on nthe NHDS?

When they are unaccountable for their manifestos, it feels wrong and it's long past the time they should be made, legally, to stick by what they say in order to be voted in. Of course it creates mistrust between the politicians and the voters, and I know of some staunch Labour supporters who have now removed themselves from anything to do with Keir Stalin - oh sorry, I mean Starmer - his pathological lying and his broken promises.
