- The wait is over! It is here! Taking delivery of my Kioti DK 4710 SE HST Tractor. One year ago today I posted my first video and today a big step was made for my wood yard and channel with the new tractor, you all have helped me get here and for that I THANK YOU ALL!

tips from my experience:
* Step on the right side: I wouldn't. It only takes one small bump with your hip getting on to hit that FEL (front end loader) joystick and dump a load, crush a tailgate, knock over a wood pile etc (some tractors do have a joystick lockout you could use if you remember to every time)
* 2wd vs 4wd, 2wd will usually steer tighter when you don't have a load in the bucket. 4wd will steer easier w/a heavy load in bucket. Less stuff turning (2wd) means slightly better fuel usage over 4wd
* Grapple (once you get it): when taking it off, don't close the lid/tines all the way. If it's in the sun, fully closed, the hydraulic fluid can expand and basically lock up the grapple making it difficult to hook the hoses up.
Also: the electronic valves on the third function are either open or closed. There is no feathering. So you go from just touching what you want to grab to full tractor hydro pressure in about .5-1 second. Most tractor and implement companies fail to tell you this and you can possibly damage the grapple or whatever you're picking up. Go gently.

I would suggest a firewood bucket, more capacity per scoop and slotted bottom to let the "junk" fall through. Everything in due time.
Is it bad for it to rack the bucket up and down really fast? Because I'm visualizing, have a cutting log area. The splitting section is somewhere else, he can scoop up the rounds and *GAH GAHAHAGAG* the firewood bucket to sift the junk out, then dump clean logs in the split pile. He can go longer without raking up the crud.

It is fast because I am just learning, I will get better at operating it!
Congratulations Chris- I don’t leave tractor in 4 wheel drive. I just engage it when I need it. Rhino makes a nice well made canopy you can take on and off. I also have a spinner knob on the steering wheel- it allows faster turning in tight spaces.
I agree with only use 4wd when needed.

My first thought when I saw the new tractor with the bucket was getting rid of that wheelbarrow for cleaning up. The bucket will hold 5xs as much. Congrats on new tractor. All us men are so jealous. Have fun.

Your 1st tractor... Your video reminds my of my excitement 8 years ago when I bought my first tractor - a Kubota L3901. I drove 350 miles to pick it up and was so proud when I first saw it on the trailer with a rotary cutter, box blade, loader/bucket and trailer, All brand new and shiny! I looked just like you driving it for the 1st time. All of the controls took a while to feel comfortable with. Now - 8 years and 400+ hours later and it feels like part of me when I'm in the seat. I look like an experienced skid loader operator because I can be turning, changing forward/reverse, feathering both the up/down AND tilting the bucket so it looks like my hand out there. It's a long learning curve but it's fun learning and it's my most favorite & useful tool that I've ever owned.
Yup, that was about 1 1/2 years ago now and I have learned a bunch!

Way to go!!! you'll love the machine, I have the 4010hst and I find with the regen, that I can lengthen in-between cleaning if when running the machine I keep the rpm above 1200, the engine seems to run a bit cleaner. Service is the most important thing, make sure you change the oil after 40hrs then do a whole service pack after 120hrs changing all fluids and filters, after that its smooth sailing till the 500hr mark. Good luck with the machine

I’m somewhat honored Chris, lol. When you started looking I left a fairly lengthy recommendation on what you should get. You got exactly what I recommended with the exception of going with the 40 hp instead of the 35 hp. You will love your choice... enjoy!
