Oh my goodness, you guys!!! I am so excited. I really, really hope you will enjoy this one. Please have a look! Even if you’re not familiar with the show or simply have moved on, I think you will enjoy yourself. If I can spark an interest for it or simply make you reminisce a little bit, my work here is done. ☺️
Back in 2010, Daniel and Betty left me with a heart so full it burst. Their relationship has always been very precious to me, mostly because, funnily enough, they didn’t get to live a romance up until the very end (my own theory is that Daniel fell in love with Betty three episodes before the finale). What they had was perhaps even more powerful than romantic love. Devotion, loyalty, the deepest friendship and camaraderie imaginable. A connection so beautiful and unique on TV, I didn’t even picture them together in any other way. There was no need to have a kiss on screen to have it count and I was genuinely not hoping for something to happen. And then the 19th episode of the 4th season occurred and my Ugly Betty world was suddenly turned upside down. One look from Daniel to Betty and my shipper’s heart started beating and then stopped altogether during the finale episode. Cause of death: CUTENESS OVERLOAD. I felt elated for days after having watched it for the first time, back when I was 17. No joke. And yes, I’m weird. In other news: water is wet.
This show stayed with me ever since and I consider it to be one of the best ever made. It’s just so full of humour, colour, friendship, tolerance, such a huge amount of plot twists it honestly makes you feel dizzy. Quite a few tragedies too. And love. So much love. In fact, one of the constants throughout the show is the deepest love between the two main characters. And I am so delighted to publish a tribute to them today. I finally got a chance to get my hands on the episodes in HD and boy! Did I have fun!! I made this edit in just a few days, which is a personal record since I’m working all the time.
And I loved doing it. So, so much. I had to watch the whole series again before starting it and it was such a joy. I highly recommend it to everyone. It brightens your day.
So what I basically tried to do was to recreate the emotional impact that the final episode has had on me at the time (using words Betty said a few episodes prior which turned out to apply perfectly to it), as well as providing an insight as to who Betty Suarez was. Mostly through Daniel’s eyes. Such a wonderful character. The video shows her influence regarding Daniel’s growth as well. The culminating point of it being of course him realising his feelings for her and deciding to do something about it. The ending of the show is left open to your interpretation but as far as I’m concerned, they are endgame. Which ultimately makes Ugly Betty a very compelling love story.

Yeah i agree with you. I just saw it in disney plus and i thought oh this is another version of the uggly Betty but it isn't. I love the way the writers twisted the main story, because this Daniel is so beautiful and so much better than the original. I'm love it.

I honestly can’t get over Ugly Betty, I’m really sad and annoyed that it ended so soon and I still feel so incomplete
I really wanted them to be together romantically. Betty was so sweet always being there for him. Daniel really cared about her even if he didn't realize it at first. She really grew on him.

i am so happy they left the ending open so that we get to fill that in. in my version, they went out for dinner, admitted to themselves first they had feelings, they dated more, they got a couple, they went on being a power couple in the business

I recently discovered Ugly Betty and have watched it so many times I can't even count. Thank you to the people who brought this work to life.
This is the best edit of Detty I’ve ever watched. I just love it and them so much. My heart still hurts that we never got to see their relationship evolve to the next step romantically. Not even a kiss. I’m still holding out hope for a reunion movie, but with the show creator having died I doubt they will ever do it.
They are perfect for each other. At first the directors said that they would never be together but then things changed. They changed I just wish they shared a kiss at some point. 😚 😘 💋

I think this is my favourite Detty video I've seen. It really is sad that, they took it off the air literally as they both were in a real position to finally focus on their true feelings for one another. I think thrust always been there, but by the finale they were finally ready to face them together.
The scream I scrumpt😭😭 Betty & Daniel were so perfect for each other & no one can convince me otherwise 😭😭 they belong together & in my world they did get together right after that dinner in London. HE FLEW ACROSS THE WORLD FOR HER OF COURSE HE LOVES HER. I’m still mad they didn’t give us a single kiss between them😔
I love that it shows the good times each when he's got a different hair style, shorter to longer. Each good scene with them just shows such progress he loves her! Woo wish she knew tho. I wish they'd make a movie or some how continue the series just with a time jump since it would really be a time jump with a few flashbacks to what happened in the ending. 'Ugly Betty in london' or 'Ugly Betty 2.0' lol, same cast loved them.

I feel the need to put out there , that media consumers as a whole need to spent more time supporting TV shows where the lead is of an ethinic minority. If we do that then great shows (or at least I think so) would be running a lot longer .

This video is amazing, I just currently finished watching Ugly Betty and I just have to keep rewatching this video, I honestly think this made them a couple and they are probably married now with at least one kid. I honestly wish the show had not ended I would have wanted to have seen a season 6. I really hope they make it again, even though it has been 11 years.

Excellent video that has reignited my long ago Detty feels! Much as I was a fan of their potential romantic pairing, I loved the friendship they developed. It's a relationship I could see going either way and leaving me feeling satisfied, and that's how I feel about the series finale. It's left open ended with both of them realizing there may be something more between them and deciding to begin that new chapter after closing the old one. *SOME SPOILERS AHEAD* I understand that Silvio Horta was not keen on them being together like in the original Columbian telenovela, but he did state in an interview that he had regret, as time went on, for neglecting their relationship as they were the core of the show. However, while Horta did later on change his mind about this and as much as I love the original Columbian telenovela, I have a lot more appreciation for how Betty and Daniel's relationship is written. They develop the professional and platonic relationship first, grow together, and find a steady support system and rock with each other. While Betty's hard work and intelligence help Daniel at work, her kind and optimistic nature help bring out the caring and friendly person he is deep down. Meanwhile Daniel's admiration and respect for Betty helps her to grow a bit at work such as encouraging her to be open minded to writing an article on a sleazy author and letting her know that while she has changed, she's still her. It's a relationship that I feel has aged rather well as more discussions about boss-employee relationships and office romances in general are being reexamined in the fictional world (and real life). Therefore, having hints of something more between Betty and Daniel at the very end when they are no longer boss-employee was a wise decision IMO. Also, my favorite moment will forever be episode 3x07 "Crush'd" in which Daniel tells Betty that she is beautiful after she's gets her heartbroken by Jesse. Cue the awws.

The Detty ride is unlike anything I've seen before or since. It's not the typical romance you might expect, I'll grant you. But it's worth holding on tight until the very end ;)

Did they ever kiss?
I kinda hate the ending because it was so underwhelming in comparison to every other episode. I hoped for a dramatic scene where he tells her he can't live without her and how he loves her and she is like no we could never be in a relationship and she is mad at him for not saying goodbye and in the end they kiss. Instead we got like a friendly, calm little talk after they haven't spoken in days and are just cassual about it? Just looks like they're gonna be friends forever. I really hoped for something big in the end. Nevertheless, I loved the show and their story and this video is sooo cute.
I mean you have to look at the context clues. He couldn’t imagine his life without her and dropped his career and whole life just to follow her to London. Friends don’t do something like that. Then he asks her out to dinner and we as the viewers are left to imagine the rest. That’s a great ending and the writers did a great job setting the stage for a romantic relationship between them. Not everything has to be spoon fed, some of the best endings in TV allows the viewer to fantasize about what happens next. We know he loves her, we know he followed her to London, we know Betty was so happy he was there, we know he wants to romance her starting with dinner, you can fill in the rest😉
