The new tracks are a nice upgrade. I have to see the generation 1 tracks have a cool look but I have been told they offered a rough ride. I hope to film a 2012 T9.615 to see how the ride compares.
The SmartTrax versions have been a rare sighting in my book. I have wanted to film one since 2012. 2024 was the year to catch one. I hope to gild some more.
I agree. It was nice to film this one as it was one of the very first new series built. I have a video of my Ford FW-30 tractor that will be posted soon.
A fantastic video of an impressive big tractor. It's the kind of machine that I would love to see working and have a go at driving one once in my lifetime. You would feel like king of the tractor drivers behind the steering wheel of that T9 tracked machine. But sadly I don't know of any that are working on farms in the North of Scotland or anywhere in Scotland for that matter. I did see one at a dealership staged event about 10 years ago, but it was just a stationary display machine on wide tyres that had been specifically brought up from England for the event being held and put on near Aberdeen, I think it was to mark the 50 years of tractor production at the Basildon tractor factory. There are probably some working on the very big arable farms in the South of England somewhere.
Thank you for this video jason nice looking tractor amazing he can go 9 miles and hour in that field. The fields here where I live you would be lucky to do 2 maybe 3 miles and hour with with the rocks we have here and ledges of rock where if your lucky they have 2 inches top soil coving them .I wouldn't have any shivers left to harrow with if I went that fast Lol😅😅 thanks for all the info on this tractor jason
I always enjoy getting a chance to talk with a farmer about why they chose to purchase the machine how they like it. And adds to the video beyond just sharing the specifications.
I don't get why the T9 had different tracks than the Quadtrac to begin with. As far as I know, they are largely identical. So why bother developing different track systems for your blue articulated tractor than for your red one?
Would like to see a report comparing operating repair replacement cost between track systems vs LSW tires. I like the track system, but suspect repair cost could be high !!
It seemed to me that that field didn’t really need going over with the field cultivator? It looked like a perfectly fine seedbed and this was an unnecessary pass that is just eroding the soil to dust, nice tractor though.
I have a video from this sane field showing why they run the field cultivator after a Tru Tandem Turbo and the Corn Planter. The field cultivator works out chunky soil and smooths the seed bed. See the full tillage and planting video at th-cam.com/video/6QhBBpTXAAA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZUyOdTZCXaJrJ0tX
Steiger made four-wheel-drive tractors for multiple manufacturers, including IH, Ford, and JD at one point or another. The units produced in the late 70's and early 80's (e.g., FW-60 and 4586) were basically the same chassis (I'm not an expert) but differed in engines and other stylistic details. Is the New Holland T9.615 not just a stylistic variation of the CASE-IH quad track? What's the difference?
Steiger never built any of their tractors under licence for John Deere - ever. John Deere 4 wd artic tractors of the modern era, started with their 8010, introduced first in 1959, then again in 1960, as the big brother to the New Generation tractors. They were very expensive and had reliability issues, and so were taken back in house to be tweaked, ans reintroduced as the 8020 model. Only about 100 were ever made, and it took forever to get the last of them sold. After this, they entered a badge engineering agreement with the Wagner Tractor Company, who produced both the WA 14 & 17 models for Deere & Co. The agreement between the two parties included a non compete clause which effectively put Wagner out of business. After that, John Deere produced their own 4wd articulated tractors, utilising components from the larger tractors already in production, such as the Transaxle assembly, thereby greatly reducing cost of these units, compared to the former badge engineered models. The 7020 & 7520 tractors were produced from the early 1970s until 1975, when the likes of the 8630 tractor superceded them. The big selling point of the newer models was the rounded off design, Soundgard cab, whilst other componentry again drew from the larger conventional tractors already in production. Subsequent ranges have introduced more poeer via larger engines, but the overall styling stayed largely the same across several generations of the latter iterations.
Early New Holland Smart Trax tractors were a standard wheeled tractor fitted with ATI track modules with the subsequent reduction in transport speed. The new ones are a Case Quadtrac with the usual New Holland cosmetic differences. There was a T9.670 converted to ATI tracks by the local distributor here in Western Australia back when they were first released. From memory it was the year after that they became available as a factory fitted option.
At some point there is a line (Im not sure where to define it) you cross over from tractor to large scale construction equipment. This is construction equipment. Not that there's anything wrong with that if you want to be a construction worker but it isnt farming.
Tractors are an industrial investment to get the work done. At 555 hp this tractor is a mid sized articulated machine with the top ones surpassing 800 hp. This tractor has been on the market for 40 years. When you have a 10 day window to plant a crop at 5-10 mph having horse power is helpful to stay ahead of the weather. For 80 years we have seen a great decline and people wanting to work on a farm. These tractors have consolidated the lack of labor to feed to world.
@markcollmer yet that was BACK THEN, not now. NH is owned by Fiat. I have no idea why you're confusing it with Ford for when Ford has no say or anything in NH
@markcollmer you are confused. You claim this tractor is ford which it is not. Ford has not made tractors since the 80s or 90s. NH have been owned by Fiat for 30 plus years now. Look it up
Lots of factors in the size. How wide are the roads and low are the power lines you you have to transport through. The wider the wings get the less even the finish is from the center to the outside. What tractor did the bigger horse power replace. The farm may have not upgraded implements at the same time.
Fiat Bought New Holland in 1991. Fiat New Holland bought Case IH in 1999 and formed CNH Group. New Holland and Case are the same tractors. Built in the same building.

I like to talk with the farmer. They can give more info than I can on the operation of the machine.
The new track system from New Holland looks great
He’s rolling right through the field with that big rig, looks great 👍

It's always cool to hear what the operator thinks about his equipment😉👍 the smarttrax is a nice looking tractor👍👍
I always think talking to the farmer really helps add to the video to hear their personal experience and why they chose to purchase the machine.
That new holland is bad ass!
Hello everyone great vidéo and great looking Jason
Beautiful tractor.
It is a nice tractor in the New Holland line up.
Hi from Dexter🏠Missouri

Amazing machinery in an amazing video! More of this High-tech, please!

I have a bunch filmed. Stay tuned.
Excellent video once again big T 👍👍👍
That smart trax is one cool tractor. Nice to hear the farmers thoughts on the smoother ride than the quadtrack...
I always enjoy getting a chance to talk with a farmer about why they chose to purchase the machine how they like it. And adds to the video beyond just sharing the specifications.
Yup we had a first series T9.615 high idler and main issue with those tracks other than rough ride was the tracks all cracked

Like the tractor! Think I’d rather have that info on corner post instead of dash🤷🏻♂️! Visibility in cab looks great
The placement of the function performance display is a small variant between the the blue and the red.
Good video.
Glad you enjoyed it Frank. Thank you for watching.
Whenever harvest rolls around you should find some farmers demoing an S7 combine
John Deere S7 combines aren’t supposed to be released to the public, till 2025, and plus wheat harvest is pretty much finished

How does the price of the equivilent CaseIH version compare to this New Holkand beast ?
This tractor is similar to the Case IH 555 Steiger. Both are built at the CNH factory in Fargo, ND.
Isn’t this the same track system as the case?
Yes it is. Until now New Holland has used an outside suppliers tracks. The T9.615 is similar to a 555 Steiger.
