      Posted in another reply. Two of my four main stage guitars (Tele style, Strat style, R8 Les Paul, Es 335) are Nash. S-57 and T-52... and I don't even really care for relic'd instruments. They just played and sounded better than any Fender or F style I'd previously picked up.
      But quality control and consistency: Picking up any two of the exact same model, one I'll love and one I wouldn't touch again, and for me it's been about one in four or one in five that I've played that I like.

    Nash licenses the headstock shape from fender. That’s how they can use those parts.

      @tonyhill1141 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has a mastery bridge and I’m not sure about the tremolo or how it differs from the Fender. I know they lined the pick up beds with copper and there is no hum and they sound great with distortion or overdrive. That guitar has become the sound of the band. • @tonyhill1141
      @tonyhill1141 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t see any fill ins. I bought it from a luthier and he copper lined the pickups and put on the mastery. I’ve played other ones that just don’t sound as good as this one but don’t get me wrong they were all quality guitars. I’m probably just biased for mine.

I've had 2 Novo Serus Js with Mastery bridges and vibratos and one Mexican road worn Jazzmaster with a vintage style bridge that I put a Mastery vibrato on and the Mastery hardware is just flawless. I know replacing a vintage style bridge with a Mastery requires boring/drilling the post holes to a slightly larger size, which is no biggie, but I wasn't sure about the post spacing or the hole size of the roller bridge that Nash uses.

    Normally nash doesn’t clear coat over the work area. That was probably a request from a customer. Most nash guitars are custom made from stores like ours. You can have them do almsot anything. And that neck shape was definitely a custom order. Normally nashes have a chunky more modern neck. Kinda close to modern Gibson 50s standard neck size. But I’m sure they would do more thin style. Just pay attention to the listing If you are looking for one. That neck is referred to as a “boat” neck. I wish you did a bit more research on these wonderful instruments. Nash is one of the best in the bizz. They have better output then any modern fender you will try. Even most custom shop fenders fall short to them. As nash are known as custom shop killers at the Chicago music exchange. Don’t let nostalgia of fender sway you’re idea of them. They are fantastic

    I was gifted a S67 in 2014. That guitar changed my life and still does to this day. Mine has a solid ash body so it’s quite a bit heavier than most strats, and the neck profile is the D shape that’s 1.00 at the 1st fret and 1.05 at the 12th. I was never a fan of relics until that guitar came to me and now I only want that one. I loved it so much I played through the frets in just over 3 years. Tone Shop Guitars in Addisonx TX is a Nash Dealer so I had them put stainless frets on and it bends smoother than a roller skate on a greased ice rink. Every guitar player I let try it has this moment where they just go “woah”. The tone is unmatched of any other guitar I’ve ever owned or tried out, some multiple times the amount as mine. Bill Nash is also known to donate guitars to charitable causes, which is pretty cool for a small boutique guitar maker.

Their necks don't run thin, front to back. Bodies are 1-3/4" thick, typical of parts makers including Warmoth. 1-5/8" to 1-1/2" is the correct/typical thickness for Fenders, including '63s. Warmoths licence with fender says that they can not sell the headstock with any kind of branding on it... So them passing them off to Nash and then putting a logo on wouldn't fly. Fender wouldn't stand for it.
    You're free to put your own logo on a warmoth (I think warmoth even gives you one) .. but not over and over again for resale.

    I live in WA and own an S-57 and a T-52 Nash. Nash, I believe, is still based in Olympia. For the main parts, body and neck, there are three great makers in the immediate area to them. Warmouth in Puyallup is a licensed by Fender maker, but there is also Best and USA Custom in Tacoma. Both of those makers have headstock designs that... can be creatively sanded with minimum effort into the Fender shape. There is a strong rumor as to which of those three companies Bill Nash gets his parts from, but let's say it's fairly certain that he's using one of those three companies.
    Lollar pickups are based out of Vashon Island WA.
    The funny for me about Nash guitars is I'm not really a fan of relic instruments, but the very first Telecaster I played was the best playing and sounding Tele I'd played to date. better than Fender Custom Shop, better than tens of thousand valued vintage ones I played at Emerald City Guitars. And... unfortunately I did not get that one, but when I picked up the white Strat with 57 specs I play, I found the same experience for an S style. And I did eventually find a Nash Tele that seems as good. :)
    But the main caveat I have to offer with these "magic" instruments that I own s that is that in trying out several Nash instruments, I only find about one in four at the most is a truly "special" one, and the rest I don't like at all. I should also note that the two I own have big baseball bat profile necks, which I love but folks who like "slim taper" or Ibanez RG slim type ones would probably hate.

    I never thought I was narrow minded and I could embrace new the ways of doing stuff. But, I have a problem of justifying guitars that look like crap! I'm missing something about that is wrong. I buy my guitars and take better care than those guitars that look like I'm a pig on taking care of my guitar the majority are steel string guitars and I'm planning to have my own handmade electric guitars and 5-string basses. Keeps me out of trouble. Cheers!

    Sounds awesome! Love Nash's choice of Lollar pickups in interesting and beautiful body configurations. I like the 3xHB Wayfarer, a way better 'Wilshire' than Epi's double cut take. Going to go see what our local Nash dealer has. Can't stand 'vintage zombie' truss adjustment though (zombie cause neck/head has to be removed).

    Hi Austin, love the show.I have heard you on several occasions mention how the knobs on Strat and Teles pickup selector switches can fall off and then get lost. Here is a little tip...buy a packet of bicycle inner tube valve dust covers. They are cheap as chips and a perfect push on fit.

    Their relicing work is generally pretty good, but that big forearm wear is horrible, the exposed underlying wood doesn't look "aged" at all. Especially when you compare it to the back of the neck. This particular relicing job doesn't look very convincing.

The most useful feature on his guitars is how the tone truly works throughout the whole range plus having a tone knob on that hot bridge pickup makes Nash way ahead of the game of tone!! You missed a valuable tool and part of this demo…. I can tell you like Gibsons better by the way you rushed through and missed the tone package…… I guess a NASH Les Paul would not interest you either… coil splits without the push pull…. Nevermind

And he was so blown away, he played the Gig (the Audience was about 5000 People) and kept my guitar... 😞 I never got it back. He sort of "ambushed" me and because the Nash was so new to me I hadn't have the chance to build a relationship, if that makes sense...!?! This was 12 Years ago and I still (!!!) regret that.

  • @Andrew_182

    I'm fairly confident that Nash licenses the head stock shape directly from Fender. I don't believe they could get away with buying neck from warmoth/allparts, who licenses the headstock from fender for themselves to sell, and then slapping their own logo on the fender headstock and sell that. You'd able to get away with that as a private individual, as in you bought a warmoth/allparts neck and made your own logo and decided to sell it on reverb or craigslist or whatever, but as a company who's entire business is selling guitars with fender headstocks, I highly highly doubt it. Fender would have a cease and desist in their inbox very quickly.
    Also, the wayfairer reminds me of the Epiphone coronet/wilshire/crestwood. Pretty cool it's semihollow.

    • @Trog
      @Trog  ปีที่แล้ว

      I just don’t see Fender doing that though. Even gibson will only license their shape, not the headstock. There is definitely something going on though!

    • @Andrew_182
      @Andrew_182 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Trog Fender only owns their headstocks though, not their shapes (at least the main ones) which is why they are willing to license them (their headstocks) while Gibson is not.
      Maybe you could reach out to Nash for clarification? But I am pretty confident (99%) that buying a licensed part from warmoth/all parts does not grant you the license by proxy to sell it yourself commercially. If so, Gibson(or Schecter or any other brand) could buy up a bunch of these necks, slap their logos on them and build guitars and sell them.
