Not at all, historically the Mogami had one of the worst luck of any vessel of the war, knowing what she used to been through, a torpedo bunce isn't too farfetch.

Still doesn't change the fact that magazine detonation is by far the most bullshit mechanic in the game, and is the only time I'll spend money on the game: to replenish my stock of anti-detonation flags.

@@apex_blue There's a difference between it happening because of poor armor in real life and just randomly happening in the game regardless of how much armor the ship in question has. Its further idiotic that destroyers have a naturally higher chance to detonate because they supposedly have "no armor" despite the fact that a shell is more likely to simply over-penetrate the magazine without detonating inside said magazine.

@iEarlGrey that would make the game very inconsistent, you would need to have shell duds and misfires and irregular reload times per gun then. If you wanna stay consistent with the non arcade style that warships technically is.

WWII Toros could ricochet off of ships if they hit the wrong angle. Considering the Type 93 didn’t have a Magnetic Detonator it’s definitely possible

As a University student of Naval architecture and ocean engineering department in South Korea, I can say that this trailer is fucking wonderful.

Wow... The Art Department is at it again, I did not expect them to use this song in a mile away.
But that Torpedo deflection, I am complex whether it is a dud or the version of the in-game mechanic range kicking in and lost it's steam.
Either way, this looks so good. The in-game art style was also a touch

Now I wish there was a game mode where cruisers could be top dog. Like the First Battle of Savo Island, where heavy cruisers were the largest surface combatants.

Haha, you forgot the destroyer that your ship couldn’t spot 2 feet away that launched 27 billion torpedos and the cruiser with a reload time of 2 seconds that sets you on fire every second.

Guys it makes sense that the torpedo didn’t explode it wasn’t hit on the ignite your tip. It doesn’t matter if you ran it through the ship if you haven’t touch that pin it isn’t going boom
It’s a type 93 torpedoe with a magnetic detonator, it should have exploded unless it was faulty, which was common with the Type 93
@@aceapache4914 Very true Type 93 did have a magnetic detonator that did play up sometimes in Captain Haras book destroyer captain one of his torpedos launched at a USN destroyer in the battle of Kulla Gulf detonated in the wake of a destroyer possibly due to the Wake playing with the magnetic detonator or the contact fuse but either way all torpedos come at least with faults.

no, this is purely cinematic. Historically though torps in ww1-ww2 did often fail to detonate when they hit a target, especially if they were early war American torpedoes that had all kinds of problems, including having a tendency to turn around and sink the ship that fired it.

Not gonna lie this video looked amazing,
I see the art department is still doing well as always, just wish I could say the same for whoever is in charge of the actual game balancing decisions
Also it makes me wish for actual some torp ricochet angles, maybe you can introduce it as like a gimmick/unique draw back for a new line or nation when one come in

i love the way they put everything you consider while in a battle into a well executed cgi video also can we all take a moment to curse and appreciate the fact that torpedoes do not ricochet because i know we are all weighing that out right now lol
Honestly I think that this is one of the best videos WoWs has done
from memory those torpedoes were so volatile that a hit like that would have still made them go off
Dudes working at art department and dudes making these videos should eat with silver spoons, drink from golden cups, sleep on diamond beds and wipe their asses with silk.
Anything less means they're severely underpaid.

for those wondering why Mogami lost this, other than the false torpedo bounce that doesnt happen in WOWS, Mogami is running its 203mm gun setup, reload on those is, iirc, 15 seconds, Baltimore is a flat 10 seconds, this is why Balti is able to get off 2 shots while Mogami gets off 1, Mogami is also firing HE, which, with both cruisers being broadside, is a bad choice in ammo, meanwhile Balti has its super-heavy AP loaded and is firing at a cruiser that has been known throughout the games history to be a floating dev strike because of how high its citadel sits out of the water, the AP shell entering the ammo storage is just one of the 2 ways Mogami would have met its end if you were playing this battle in the game, the more likely outcome would be the player in the Baltimore completely ERASING the Mogami with multiple citadel hits in those 2 salvoes it gets off

I've always loved how the physics in-game works, and you can even see that here, with Baltimore making a hard turn and the entire ship looking like it might fall over on its side at any moment.
