    I love and care for fish. My brother works in the pet department at Walmart, so I taught him how to give them PROPER care. I always make sure that he feeds them, does water changes, and remove dead fish. Since he took over, tanks have been cleaner, and fish have been healthier! And a lot less deaths!!!

    The only problem with rescuing fish from Walmart is that they just get more .
    I went in to one one time where all of the Betta's were in water that was cloudy and orange . Had to walk half way through the store to find an employee to tell that they needed to be tended to .

    My Betta is a rescue from my local pet store that treat them the same way, his container was so dirty you could barely even see him. There were also many new colorful bettas with spots and stuff but I got him, a little grey/brown guy with fin rot who was half dead. I got him a 10 gallon tank with a heater, filter, and tons of hides/plants. At first he was so sick he couldn’t even eat but I treated him for Fin Rot and attempted to feed him every day. Now Leo is healthy and eats like a lion, the water quality brightened his color as well, now instead of a brownish/grey he’s bright red with blue accents. I’m definitely happy to have rescued him, hopefully he lives many years though his bad life quality when he was young might effect his lifespan, Im still glad I chose him.

    The color changing thing happened to my Betta. I got him at pet smart and his water was cloudy and he just looked really depressed but the good thing was that he wasn't sick but he was all pale pink. And after like two days of being in a clear 10 gallon tank with plants and a rock cave he was red and a glimmery white he is really a happy boy now

      Novaxx It’s disgusting that people like you think “oH It’s nOt gOiNG tO StoP aNYwAyS” if people stop supporting Walmart by "recusing" the fish (being a regular customer and purchasing the fish) then one day Walmart will stop selling fish. Btw you do know that you’re being selfish.

What I meant, my dear friend, was that it will not stop because people are still going to be ill minded enough to not see the poor treatment these fish get at Walmart and continuously buy them. Not myself.

  • @i.robles5785
    @i.robles5785 6 ปีที่แล้ว +110

    I just wanna make something clear- by buying from walmart, you are not "rescuing" the fish. You're buying it. And this tells the store to continue supplying fish because people are pity buying. It's not a rescue unless you got it for free and without handing money to the store to encourage their behavior towards fish. It sucks that fish are suffering but the cycle will continue if u keep feeding it money. And water does not contain the established bacteria your nitrogen cycle has. That's the filter media. Water/gravel do NOT hold your bacteria. I would really suggest just setting up the tank beforehand, monitoring it for a few days to make sure the cycle survived the move.

      Fishing Fantasy yeah, but now you've basically doomed other fish who will replace him. By paying for the fish, you're supporting how they are sold.
      This is an issue that a lot of people don't understand. People who buy puppies from puppy farms and claim to have saved that dog, have actually just paid for the company breed more dogs into the horrible conditions. Same with kitten farm, Walmart selling fish, and other things.
      While it's great that you saved one fish, you're supporting heaps more death and torture.

      marcelino operario LISTEN UP rescuing these fish is just letting Wal-Mart know that people buy these fish which means they will continue getting the fish. By buying a fish you are supporting this. Please stop. What we need to focus on is spreading awareness. I understand this helps with that but your also being counter active and giving other people the idea of doing themselves.

    Walmart sucks at fish because the people tasked with taking care of them are also tasked with multiple other tasks, so they can't focus much time on the fish, sad to say.
    Also sad to say rescuing that betta just means that fish won't suffer, but others will as they're cheap enough walmart can afford to eat the losses

    So far, I'm in my third betta rescue. My first one was a King halfmoon betta. When I got him, he was like a pale pink with a couple of black spots. Within just a few weeks, he darkened up and also got some light blue in him. My second one was a copper betta. He was a translucent gray with a slight hint of red. Also within a few weeks, he is now super active and looks incredibly healthy and happy. Finally, I'm 2 weeks in on my third betta, a butterfly betta. He had a gray body and white translucent fins. Unlike the others, he had really bad fin rot and I was also able to get him 50% off. As of now, his fins are growing back and he's getting more color in him. I really wish I could put pictures of them in to actually show the difference as I'm bad at explaining. But thank you for taking the time to read this as Bettas are my passion, have a great day!

  • @rantsandreviews

    Very admirable. But let me play devils advocate here for a second. WalMart is a retail store that uses SKU's tracked by computer. Every time they sell an item, be it fish or feather duster it is automatically added to the next order. So...if people take a cue from this video and run out and buy fish from WalMart they will indeed save a percentage of the fished purchased. However, a huge number of fish far surpassing the number of rescues will either die or at the very least be subjected to horrible conditions, disease, and malnutrition. In theory your video could have killed hundreds, if not thousands of fish since being published in May. Your heart is in the right place but you didn't think it through....

      That’s what must be done, the more you buy, the more that will suffer in the future. Unless your going to go to Walmart everyday and buy every single one of their fish (and trust me if they are making good sales on the fish they will restock every day). People should instead take action against them selling fish at all, like peaceful protests etc.
